spoiler Brothers & Sisters Season 2 Spoiler Thread #1

"Brothers & Sisters" is a compelling, new one-hour primetime drama from executive producers Ken Olin and playwright Jon Robin Baitz about the California-based Walker family. In the series, we meet a collection of incredibly intertwined and somewhat damaged adult siblings who embrace one another unconditionally while striving to reflect the perceived perfection of their role model parents. In the days ahead, they will navigate waves of temptation, deception and grief.

"Brothers & Sisters" follows the Walkers through the maze of American life today -- the pressures, limitless options and the struggle to grow beyond our backgrounds into ourselves. Through these fascinating siblings -- Sarah (Rachel Griffiths), the corporate VP who returns to the family business so she can give to her marriage as much as she does to her career; Tommy (Balthazar Getty), the loyal son yet charming womanizer; Kevin (Matthew Rhys), the gay lawyer cautiously learning about love; Justin (Dave Annable), the baby of the family, grappling with war trauma and addiction; and Kitty (Calista Flockhart), right-wing radio host turned TV pundit who has always been Daddy's little girl -- the show explores what it means to be a family in the 21st century, and how these brothers and sisters balance their own lives as they strive to accept their parents as people -- flawed, contradictory and forgivable -- rather than just as a father and mother.

The parents are Tom Skerritt as William Walker, the larger-than-life patriarch and president of the family business, and Sally Field as Nora Holden, the opinionated wife and mother to the five Walker siblings. Then there's Ron Rifkin as Saul Holden, Nora's dandyish brother; John Pyper-Ferguson as Sarah's husband, Joe; Sarah Jane Morris as Tommy's wife, Julia; and Patricia Wettig as the mystery woman who could bring the Walkers and their company down.

“Brothers & Sisters” stars Calista Flockhart as Kitty, Rachel Griffiths as Sarah, Sally Field as Nora Holden, Ron Rifkin as Saul Holden, Patricia Wettig as Holly, Balthazar Getty as Tommy, Dave Annable as Justin, Matthew Rhys as Kevin, John Pyper-Ferguson as Joe, Sarah Jane Morris as Julia, Emily VanCamp as Rebecca Harper and Kerris Lilla Dorsey as Paige.

Ken Olin, Jon Robin Baitz and Greg Berlanti are executive producers. The series is produced by Touchstone Television.

************

Episode 2.01
Holly has a down-on-her-luck friend (or perhaps relative) staying with her. Abby is a recent divorcee who got the car in the settlement but the car is currently being held hostage by the mechanic for a huge repair bill after an accident. Not having a car is her excuse for not job-hunting. (Sounds like a freeloader to me. What goes around comes around, Holly.)

Later Abby meets Kevin at the Walker house. I think she's probably there to see Rebecca. She figures out from his BMW, expensive suit and haircut that he must be Bec's lawyer brother (meaning he has money). This causes her to come on to him pretty strongly, 'cause she hasn't yet figured out he's also Bec's gay brother. When Kevin informs her of this she acts like she was just joking.

Isaac Diller is a new McCallister campaign staff member. (Perhaps the campaign manager?) He tells Kitty that the Senator needs to show strong support for the war in Iraq, but she should "straddle the fence" as a campaign strategy when she talks to the press. Kitty is not pleased by this strategy. Isaac brings the flattery, telling Kitty that she brings intellect and savvy to the campaign as his wife never did.

Nora and Isaac are in a bar, waiting to see a performance of "La Traviata." Apparently Nora has a blog in which she discusses her views on Iraq. He flatters Nora about her writing and says it's too bad her opinions are opposed to the campaign line because they could use someone like her. It becomes apparent that we have another situation like the first Dave the Contractor "date." Nora thinks it's a date but Isaac makes it clear that he's doing a background interview about Kitty for the campaign and that going to the opera is a "just friends" thing.

Question: You can tell me your hush-hush Brothers & Sisters news. I can keep a secret.— Lindsay
Ausiello: OK, but I have to be a little cryptic about it, so dust off your thinking cap. (Spoiler alert) According to extremely reliable sources, there is a huge story coming up this season involving half siblings Rebecca and Justin. Coincidentally, I hear producers are well aware that there is palpable chemistry between Emily VanCamp and David Annable. Them's the dots. Get busy connecting 'em.

Question: Oh. My. Gosh. Now I have to know which series regular is leaving Brothers & Sisters! Pretty please!— KK
Ausiello: You're in luck! The answer is contained in this week's Ausiello Report vodcast!

Question: Connecting the dots you gave us last week about Emily VanCamp and David Annable is leading me to scary places! So I'll ask another Brothers & Sisters question instead: Do you have any scoop relating to everyone's favorite sarcastic gay brother, Kevin?— Lisa
Ausiello: (Spoiler alert) I don't think we've seen the last of Reverend Jason, despite Eric Winter's unfortunate detour to Laughlin, Nevada.

Question: Please tell me Dave Annable is not leaving Brothers & Sisters!— Sandra Oku
Ausiello: Dave Annable is not leaving Brothers & Sisters. But someone else is. And he's a series regular. Well, he was a series regular.

"Brothers and Sisters" is adding a possible love interest for Sally Field -- Isaac, who is none other than Sen. McCallister's (Rob Lowe) presidential campaign manager. He's a major power player, charismatic, feared and respected, and deemed a political "shark." They've been looking at African-American and Hispanic actors to play Isaac, but no casting yet. And there might be love on the horizon for Sally's drug-bedeviled Afghanistan war vet son, Justin (Dave Annable) on the show as well -- a new recurring character named Abby. She's a friend of his half-sister Rebecca's (Emily VanCamp) -- smart, charming, beautiful, self-absorbed and sexually manipulative. Well, can't win 'em all.

Remember. these are just spoilers. some if these things may not happen or change before season 2 starts.

Question: Can you spill anything on Brothers & Sisters? Also, how was your visit to the set last week?— Ashwini
Ausiello: Not much scoop was procured during my set visit, unfortunately. For starters, the cast just started shooting and, as they reminded me, I know more about the coming season than they do. (It's true.) And secondly, I spent almost the entire time shooting the you-know-what with BFFs David Annable and Emily VanCamp, the latter of which, believe it or not, I had never met in person. Needless to say, there was much mutual fawning to do. Wait a second, I did uncover a little scooplet on the set: Nora and Kevin are converting to Republicanism. At least that's the story they'll use when a right-leaning cop pulls them over for speeding. In other news, Luke MacFarlane is returning for a string of episodes, to keep Kevin company until Viva Laughlin's inevitable cancellation frees up Eric Winter.

Exclusive! Brothers & Sisters Gets Supersized Season Three, Surprising Twist
Season three is a go! That's what we've been told, but sources on the set of ABC's addictive drama Brothers & Sisters have even better news: The series pickup for the 2008-09 TV season is for—drumroll, please—27 episodes. Yes, five extra whole hours of the best dang family around, the Walkers.

Oh, and speaking of that holy "W" moniker, I have a little inside intel on the upcoming storyline that will rock your world (at least it did mine!) when the show returns April 20.

From what I hear, producers are most definitely steaming up some kind of love connection between Rebecca "Walker" and Justin "Walker"...So clearly, one of those two gorgeous kids pictured above is actually not biologically linked to William or Nora. And even better? You don't have to wait very long to find out. I'm told the bio line is answered definitively in one of the first three episodes back—and the chemistry can't be missed. All together now: Gaaaaah!

[Bonus: We know these two have real chemistry, since Emily VanCamp (Rebecca) and Dave Annable (Justin) were dating each other in real life until recently.]

From everything else I hear, there will be lots of good juice when B&S returns this season for all the Walkers, including a deep love affair for Nora (yay!), wedding bells for another Walker and a reappearance of William Walker in episode 16.

Question: Give me something on Brothers & Sisters — preferably something extra scoopy. — Aidan
Ausiello: Two significant, albeit recurring, characters will not be returning in the fall.

Question: Are we really going to have to sit through a Rob Lowe presidency on Brothers & Sisters? — Gail
Ausiello: Not if Crossing Jordan's Ken Howard has anything to say about it. He's just been cast as McCallister's chief rival for the Republican nomination, and let's just say he makes Robert an offer he might not be able to refuse.

2.13 Separation Anxiety
"Separation Anxiety" - Kitty and Robert make a life altering decision when the Presidential race takes a dramatic turn. Meanwhile, the Walker siblings are shocked by Nora's reaction to a surprise proposal from Isaac, and Rebecca further investigates the identity of her father.

"Double Negative"- Robert is seriously contemplating a future in politics, Kitty's fertility treatments become increasingly more aggressive, Kevin has an epiphany about his relationship with Scotty and Rebecca reveals information about her paternity test. Meanwhile, contrary to Sarah's direction, Saul makes a very risky business move that could affect the future of Ojai Foods.
