They have been discriminated against for many years, and I think Eliza has always supported them and other human rights issues. Love how she just makes up her mind and DOES it! |

These were just a handful of the celebs among the 2,000 or so people who hit the streets of L.A. last night to rally in support fo gay marriage. Who else was there, and what did they have to say? Read on to find out… Perez Hilton held court at a NO H8 get together at Fiesta Cantina in West Hollywood. "People need to come out," the celeb blogger said. "That's one of the biggest things. There are so many people in Hollywood who I wish would come out, but they remain closeted. It's about visibility and being vocal." New papa and Fall Out Boy rocker Pete Wentz had a message for the parents. "The most important thing to teach your kids is that people are people," he said. "It doesn't matter where you're from or who you are, if you're a good human being. I'm going to teach my child not to be a prejudiced kind of person." Kelly Osbourne, who came along with fiancé Luke Worrell, said protests and rallies are necessary. "Eventually people are going to get sick of hearing us and they'll give us what we want," she said. The night did have its lighter moments. Dollhouse star Eliza Dushku talked about her lesbian cousin's wedding in Harvard Yard. She laughed, "Two brides are hotter than one." theres a video there as well |

She only smiled a bit when one of the other ladies stood by her for a few minutes. She most definitely did this from her heart. I'm proud for her for putting her celebrity aside for a cause she believes in. Update: Found this video, Eliza gives her thoughts at the rally at the very end of the clip; http://www.gossipgirls.com/shanna-mo...profile=315793 Last edited by Tru Faith In Eliza; 05-30-2009 at 07:53 PM.. |

Proposition 8 was put on the ballot to amend the California state constitution to ban same-sex marriage in California. Essentially it took away civil rights for part of the population, the right to marry who you choose. The voters passed Prop 8 narrowly in 2008, but it had a challenge in the California Supreme Court due to the civil-rights issue. The ruling came down upholding the Prop 8 and that's what the recent protests were about. Proponents of same-sex marriage hope to try to introduce new legislation to reverse Prop 8 and put it once again on the ballot. A number of US States have successfully passed this proposal Iowa(of all places!) Massachusetts and I believe Vermont...and New York State is considering it. I don't want to editorialize here, but I believe in simple human rights. Last edited by Tru Faith In Eliza; 06-01-2009 at 06:52 PM.. | |

Being from the UK, I've not heard of this, we've got our politicians being guilty of fiddling their expenses here. That's a whole different topic altogether. So thanks again Tru for your help here. |

And, yes I did hear something about your politicos and their expenses, Andrew. I'd like to send Eliza over to help you out on that, but she's a little busy at the moment.... ![]() |
