I'm so excited and relieved that the show has been picked up. Eliza is an incredible actress and the show is amazing. I hope we get a great 2nd season of many more to come.

The only thing I'm finding sad is the Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles fans that are angry about losing their show and are taking out their anger on Dollhouse with nasty commentary about both Dollhouse and Eliza. It's so unnecessary and somewhat cruel and childish.

While I'm sorry to see TSCC go, and I thought it wasn't a bad lead-in to Dollhouse, I fail to see why knocking another show will gain anything. Fox made a business decision that it was less expensive to produce Dollhouse in-house in Fox than to buy from Warners like they had to do with TSCC. And, they were getting less rating numbers than Dollhouse.

Here's some neat figures from Fox:

DOLLHOUSE ranks #1 in its Friday 9pm time period among Adults 18-34 and Men 18-34 and #2 with Adults 18-49, Adults 25-54, Women 18-34, and Men 18-49/25-54.

DOLLHOUSE delivered FOX’s highest-rated Friday series premiere in over four years (since 1/14/05) among Adults 18-49 and Adults 18-34.

DOLLHOUSE delivers an educated audience, surpassing its Total U.S Adults 18-49 average in “Adults 18-49 with 4+ Years of College.”

DOLLHOUSE averages a +40% increase from Live + Same Day to Live + 7 Day, making it the #1 most time-shifted show on network television

Essentially, Fox looked at the DVR re-play ratings and found they were getting a greater audience than the actual ratings on Friday nights.

One television writer suggested Joss might be smart and go after Summer Glau to become one of the Dolls, and it's not a bad idea. She could even be a guest star or a new Big Bad!

Here’s an interesting bit of news, direct from the Fox news release. We all kinda guessed at it but now we know for sure:

“Former FBI Agent PAUL BALLARD (Tahmoh Penikett) determined to solve the mystery of the DOLLHOUSE and find the missing Caroline, accomplished his goal in the first season finale and was convinced (or was it coerced?) to become Echo’s new handler.”

I agree with you about the TSCC fans, they are posting bad things about Joss, the show and Eliza on the Dollhouse website and it's making it harder to be excited because they are frustrating the hell out of me

Thanks Tru. I've seen the pilot and I really enjoyed it. I thought Eliza was cool, and thought she was like a kid when she had her memory wiped. You know, looking at everythiing through wonder. Also I wonder what happened to Amy's character as well? Nasty scars.

I intend to do just that Tru! I want to try and keep it spoiler free as possible for me! If it's Joss's idea over her scars, you know it won't be straight forward, which makes it more worth while in the end!

Joss Whedon recently hold a keynote concerning the topic "Defining American Culture". He reveals that he had planned a Faith spin-off.

He also revealed that he had never intended to do a TV show as his next move in the first place, that several years ago they were planning a Faith spin off show from Buffy the Vampire Slayer when Eliza Dushku chose to do Tru Calling instead. At this point Whedon shook his head and remarked jokingly, “We try to help the girl make good decisions.” At a dinner with Eliza about a year ago, the idea for Dollhouse “popped into my head and I knew that it had to be Eliza.” This, for the Whedon fans out there, is also why he is again working for Fox after they canceled Firefly. Not only are the people who used to run the television division no longer the ones in charge (see the fact that they renewed Dollhouse) but also that Eliza was still under contract with them so if he wanted her, he had to go through Fox instead of another network like FX or Sci-Fi (I refuse to acknowledge it as SyFy) which may have been more hospitable.

This confirms earlier reports we’d had. Interesting that Joss was planning the spin off; Faith’s character was electrifying and I’m sure it may have been a success. But, I believe that at the time, Eliza was thinking she didn’t want to get type-cast as Faith, and FOX suits at the time persuaded Eliza to do “Tru Calliing” which I enjoyed. It too had a lot of potential that unfortunately never got explored.

I believe this is a key reason Eliza is a producer of “Dollhouse”, and I think that also came out of the gouda-cheese pizza meeting with Joss. I’m betting he told her the only way to take control of her career is to co-produce the show.

In my opinion (and apparently, Joss’s), Eliza is smart enough to realize she can’t carry the ball alone with the “Caroline/Echo” storyline thread. She realizes the backstories of Paul Ballard, Boyd Langdon, Sierra, Victor, November/Mellie (I STILL think she’ll be back!), Dr. Saunders/Whiskey, Olivia and Topher can be a goldmine of story development.

Given time, Dollhouse could be a richly developed showcase of talent.

As for the ep, it's great we're starting to see Echo question who she is. And also it was interesting to see the mysterious Alpha introduced as well. I have a few idea's of why he left Echo alive, but I think they maybe all wrong. And please don't tell me either! I'm looking forward to the next one now!

I just realized that in my previous post, I noticed I may have given away a tiny bit of spoilerage, for which I apologize to andrew and others who may have not seen all the episodes of Dollhouse.

So said, we must all remain vigilant when posting that we don't give away too many plot details for upcoming episodes so that others may enjoy the show spoiler-free.
