Yep, it's true. They will have a much tighter budget though, so will be interesting to see how the show will look. Personally I'd really like to see Joss write more (actually ALL) of season 2 episodes, and Fox to actually air all 13 would be nice too.

From what I've read Dollhouse is getting an intial 13 episode order with the option of more episodes if required. Since they're planning on premiering it in the fall, I hope it does get more eps. Thirteen is never enough.

Most shows premiere in September. So I would expect the new season around there.

I've been following a lot of the press on this, we are indeed fortunate (read: d*mn lucky!)to have Dollhouse returning; however, there appears there will be some big changes:

For one thing, it appears it will stay on Friday nights in the US which is still a problem. But it may move to 8 PM to become a lead-in for another show they might pair it with. Apparently, there's another 13-episode order, but it could be expanded later.

Another report I read mentioned they would probably start shooting in July 2009 and that it might not return until mid-season (not fall), which is possible considering the lead-time needed to produce new shows. I'm hoping that's not the case as it would lose a lot of momemtum that the show is getting from the press about it's renewal.

It also may be based around the mythical 13th episode, "Epitaph One" which you lucky Brits will probably get to see immediately following the current shows running on your Sci-Fi channel. FOX Broadcasting Corp are currently screening the unaired 13th episode of Dollhouse at their offices as part of their upfronts preparation. I'm envious already!

Also, the show will be shorter in time as the "Remote-Free" experiment has been discontinued; this could be a mixed blessing. While they have less time per episode to tell the story, as I recall Joss told a pretty good tale every week with "Buffy" and "Angel" (and "Firefly") with the same time constraints by spreading the story over more episodes (sneaky devil, that Whedon!).

It could also mean there might be less screen time for Eliza

but it would also expand the other characters and make her character more relevant, too. Remember, she's also a producer, this could give her time for other projects as well.

I'm hopeful but cautious.

I think the best episodes this past season focused on the entire cast, I know less Eliza sucks but it might be better in the long run. Anyway, this is great news, wasn't sold on the show initially but I thought the latter half of the season was great stuff for the most part.

Thanks for all the posted updates you all. I dont have a computer so the luxery to surf the web is somewhat gone. Already as it is I'm typing all of this with my psp so this....isnt fun.

It's a good idea expanding on the other characters, this was why Buffy was such a great series as Jodss and co gave great stories and lines to the Scoobies. Then introduced us to another Slayer
