New project:The Thacker Case

Gabriel Mann, Eliza Dushku and John Savage are set to star in the indie film "The Thacker Case" based on the real-life 1983 wrongful death case of Kevin Thacker.

Robert Dean Klein penned the screenplay based on the story written by attorney Stuart Pepper. Brian Jun is directing.

The story centers on around the mysterious death of repeat drunk driving offender Thacker and the discovery of his body in an alley behind the Marshalltown, Iowa, police department after his latest DUI arrest.

Mann will play Pepper, a young up-and-coming attorney who launches his career by landing the controversial case, which required him to wade through law enforcement corruption and cover-ups. Ultimately, Pepper gained national attention from the case.

Dushku will play Monica Wright, a young attorney and Pepper's loyal assistant.

Savage will play Thomas Thacker, Kevin's father, who enlists the help of Pepper to discover the truth behind his son's death.

Shooting began this week in Los Angeles and Iowa. Mark Roberts and Lorena David are producing via their Roberts/David Films with Stuart Pepper serving as executive producer.

Mann ("The Bourne Supremacy") is repped by Innovative Artists and Justin Grey Stone of Untitled Entertainment.

Dushku (TV's "Buffy the Vampire Slayer") also is set to star in Randall Miller's "Nobel Son," is repped by the Gersh Agency.

Savage ("Thin Red Line") is repped by the Chasin Agency and Marilyn Atlas

Another film that Eliza's doing that's based on a true story. And she's still involved with the law. Now she's a lawyer, which will be interesting to see. And it's another 'straight-laced' role she's playing after being a cop. Maybe the press will drop the 'bad-girl' image they associate with her.

Wow, this is great. Did Eliza switch agents/agencies? Because it seems like she is BUSY in the last 8 or 9 months. Finally, it seems she is getting better and more interesting scripts...2008 is gonna be an Eliza film fest!!!

I think once Dollhouse is in production and on air then I thnk we will start to see these films bombard us.

There will be so much Eliza in such a short space that I think we will die from an overdose...what a way to go though huh!
