They can really do stuff in these novels (comics sounds a little childish here) that they wouldn't be able to do on the show. I also thought...(whitened out as potential spoiler) that the start of part two was a great flash back to Graduation Day part2 and Buffy and Faith's relationship. It may also explain that cover for part 3 as well. Yeah Part 2 was great, okay not as strong as the first, but the story had to be layed out in part 1. Part 2 carried on and it looked into Faith's relationship with Buffy and how that could be potentially like this one with the slayer she has to kill. Plus I did think for a moment Faith (or should that be Hope? ) did have amnesia from the fight with the gargoyles, and was going to forget who she was. That could have been interesting. Plus I'd love to have seen Eliza in that dress and heard her English accent. Looking forward to part 3. Don't have to wait too long now. I hope. |

| Junior Member ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Oh my...my issue#8 came today and...oh my! I am wishing this could be made for screen more and more with each issue - the next and last of the arc will be unbearable at this rate! I guess thats bad cos, you know, unbearable but also great cos, you know, means its great! lol ![]() I am in love with the top left panel on the last page - that's just......words can't describe the feeling I got from that single little box and the visual in my mind of how it could be on screen. Florrwoarft (read softly)! I think that sums it up best lol! (P.S. I'm gonna try making a fanart based on that panel - dunno if it'll look any good but I just can't not try it's that great! ) |

(I might have to take back my fanart comment though - its harder to source an appropriate pic than I expected lol )Last edited by ThisYearsGuy : 11-11-2007 at 12:11 PM. |

I'm still wondering about Who's come up with Eliza's music taste: Artic Monkeys, Stone Roses, Amy Whinehouse and The Clash (side note, anyone see that as a possible BIO reference? I know it could be a little extreme, but I thought it was). I thought she'd be more rock 'n' roll - Well the Clash are a great band. I thought the best bit was the twist with bringing Buffy to England and having her fight Genevieve, via magic and then Faith scrapping with Buffy and having her do what's on the cover is great and scary. One question, is the voice in Faith's head her own, or is there someone else at work here? |

| Junior Member ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Andrew, I think the voice inside Faith's head is her own. As you may remember, she tossed away her communicator before she entered the mansion, and she's not in contact with Giles I believe what bothers Faith the most is that no matter how hard she tries, she's always second best to Buffy, which was one of the themes that caused her original rift with Buffy and the fact that she was excluded, perhaps accidentally from the Scoobies. Even when she rushes in to help Buffy, Buffy thinks she's the enemy, attacks her and when Faith tries to explain, Buffy declares "Giles never trusted you." Technically, Giles misled Faith by claiming killing Genevieve would prevent an apocalypse when he actually is apparently trying to prevent Buffy's assassination. Genevieve's plot to kill Buffy seems to Faith to be a reinforcement of the "Buffy as Chosen ONE" theme which rightfully should have been Faith's after Kendra's death and Buffy's first death. There is still a lot of pain in Faith's psyche. I loved Faith's primal roar when she'd finally had enough of Buffy's tirade. I actually cheered her jumping Buffy! But the most telling part is with her inner demons screaming at her to drown Buffy, she ends by pulling her out and telling her to SHUT UP! Faith then breaks my heart by saying, "Please shut up....I wish you'd just go away." You could tell she knew her cover was completely blown, and perhaps her last chance to retire as a slayer. That act took a helluva lot of courage. She seems to be in deep trouble now, I hope that Buffy will return the favor and rescue Faith. Last edited by Tru Faith In Eliza : 11-15-2007 at 09:29 PM. |

I thought that when she attacked Buffy, it made sense. As it's been echoed throughout the series in the comics and back to season 3. Heck in season 7 Faith had redeemed herself, helped to re-ensoul Angel, and Buffy still didn't trust her. I guess her attacking Buffy after saving her was just her snapping after what Buffy said and that she's not been recognised as a proper Slayer. Like you said, Faith's never really been accepted by the Scoobies, and feels pushed out by it. I don't think she's blown her chance to retire, Buffy's still got to talk to Giles. And I wonder if she'll stop the axe in the same way Giles did from the Bringer in season 7? Plus I'd love Faith to return again at some point, as she's as much a part of the Buffy world as Xander and Willow. I do wonder if they'll keep the tension between Faith and Buffy going? I hope so, as no matter how great Buffy is, Faith's her equal. And I guess that does annoy Buffy too. |

| Junior Member ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Okay, in a word? Woocoowowblimeyhoo! ...... Hmmm something tells me I'm gonn need more words... DO NOT READ IF YOU HAVEN'T READ ISSUE 9 YET! SERIOUSLY! I MEAN IT! ![]() Firstly, I have loved this arc sooooo much - best comic arc I have ever read. No question! Secondly, Issue #9 specifically - Now I think it was a great end to the arc although it felt short - which is bizarre since they gave an extra 2 pages to this issue to round things up lol. Trafalgar lives in a hutch! lmao cute I loved the moment when Gigi went flying towards the axe - shoot, that made me hold my breath. Ouch! I really like that they made Gigi and Faith get along beforehand because that made this much more powerful. Go Giles! He makes a great partner to Faith and OH MY GOSH, Joss, pleeeease consider a one-off Faith/Giles tvmovie, cos I want that even more than ever after this issue! GILES: "Maybe I could be the Steed to your Peel" Faith: "God, I hope that's not as gross as it sounds" LOVE that moment - This issue was the first one where I bought both covers - that Avengers one just makes me smile! And isn't this promising: "A war is coming, but perhaps there are battles you and I can win before either of us has to take to the field" Here's hoping we'll see em back for said war! wink wink And, a final note, Twilight looks smart, man! UPDATE - I was expecting to see the cover scene inside but I'm actually glad we didn't - the cover is enough for me to visualise Faith burning that dress to cinders - Beautiful! | Junior Member ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | TYG, this was such a great conclusion to the Faith arc! I usually bring my books home to read but this time, I picked it up at the comic shop and actually had to pull off the road and read it immediately! Spoiler below, use care: I loved how Faith drop-kicked Gigi across the courtyard! And all the time, she's still trying to persuade Gigi that Roden was using her the way the Mayor had used Faith. Faith HAS changed. She feels deep regret and weeps when she is forced to kill Gigi. When Roden offers her the chance to destroy Buffy, she plays Roden and distracts him long enough to allow Giles to finally terminate him. I think a large symbol of Faith's redemption and maturing as a slayer is when she says to Giles "...I think I'm done taking orders even from guys I dig." She even turns down her "honorable discharge", and realizes from her own mistakes that she and Giles are going to have to seek out other slayers that had her problems and as Faith says, "help walk a few bad girls back from the brink." I found it interesting that Giles knows how difficult this would be for Buffy to have to deal with the neccessity to terminate another slayer; that could have cost Buffy her life had she hestitated. He realizes how much danger Faith is in after Willow magicked Buffy out and he makes Buffy realize it when he says "And you left Faith behind?" And once again, we see a frightening glimpse of "The Ripper" as he displays the cool fury that allowed him to kick Ethan Rayne's @ss, stop a Bringers battleaxe, throttle Ben/Glory and burst Roden with his own containment spell. This is one very tough and dangerous Watcher, as Faith so aptly puts it with "Conan the Librarian." This is pure Whedon thoughtful plot and dialogue, if this is where Buffy would have gone, it was way too big for television. Man, I could just imagine this on a movie screen! Also, for anyone still keeping up with Season 8, do you reckon maybe Faith and Giles will be the ones to deal with Simone? Could be interesting! |

| Junior Member ![]() ![]() | Mmmmm Batsu ship is exciting, but what is also exciting is that I just read that our all time fav Doug Petrie is writing one of the stand alone eps. http://www.whedon.info/Joss-Whedon-B...mic,26286.html |

| Junior Member ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Yeah I got excited about that too! I hadn't considered before now but since it's meant to be a set of 5 different writers doing each issue from a different character perspective, I wonder what the chances are that Petrie might do a Faith perspective? That'd be awesome! ![]() |
