| Junior Member ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Thanks for the update - great to hear Faith's issue is looking tight! I am actually alright with it being pushed back - closer to my birthday lol. I like the new cover art - Buffy's outfit rocks (check out the B buckle lol) and Willow looks good and like she should. - not so sure on Xander's new image, slightly oppressive lol. |

| Junior Member ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | PORTIONS OF IGN INTERVIEW WITH JOSS WHEDON (EDITED FOR BRIEFNESS, HERE) “(Joss Whedon is) writing the first four issue arc as well as a one-shot in the fifth issue. Brian K. Vaughan (Y: The Last Man, Runaways) will be taking over after that. Whedon will return for various stories and arcs throughout the season, particularly to end the entire storyline….. …Whedon: You know, I was talking to Brian Vaughan about his arc. Halfway through the conversation, because we were like, "This could be cool, that could be cool," and we said, "Wait. Let's just stop. What are we saying here? What do we need to say about Faith that we've never said before?" And these are the exact questions I'm asking when I'm running the show……..You need access to the kind of world that she lives in that you could never have on TV. You need things to have a giant scope. People need to swing from the rooftops, and do the hero stuff, to keep a level of visual excitement that you have to achieve without the actors - without the actual people in front of you…. IGN Comics: Will this season be as dark and moody as Seasons Six or Seven? Whedon: No, you gotta bring the goofy on… a little bit. The goofy is where an enormous amount of the fun lies. Like the show itself, the series will ping pong. It will go from Greek Tragedy to French Farce between issues and sometimes between panels. Having the characters just talk, just yak at each other, is just so glorious for me. I love their voices and that's always really fun. But Brian is doing the Faith arc and that's not without the darkness…… IGN Comics: So Brian K. Vaughan's arc is dealing with Faith. Can you share any more details…? Whedon: Um, not a lot, because I don't love to go into details and this is pretty far down the line. Brian and I came at Faith from a very psychological standpoint. We sort of found the story inside of that. It is a little darker, but I've read his first script and it's also hilarious. His Faith voice is, for a guy who's never written the show, he just swung and hit the lights. It was surprising, but exciting. ….Ultimately we get to, for us, as emotional a place as what Brian and I started out with. We work sort of from the outside in…Brian's is more of a side bar because people really do want to know about Faith. She's one they care about a lot. I''m not the greatest at editing, so READ THE ENTIRE INTERVIEW HERE http://comics.ign.com/articles/769/769619p1.html And from Wizarduniverse.com comes this: BRIAN K. VAUGHAN WHAT’S YOUR STORY ABOUT? [Fellow Slayer] Faith is going to be the star of my four-issue arc, which is totally thrilling to me, because I love her. I’m going to be writing issues #6-#9. I believe that turnabout is fair play; since Joss is following me on [Marvel’s] Runaways, I owed it to him to jump in after he took off. Last edited by Tru Faith In Eliza : 03-03-2007 at 04:01 PM. |

| Junior Member ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | WOW I LOVE the sound of this: ![]() "Expect that. A fair amount of stuff that would have stretched the FX budget on the show. And Faith. Expect Faith, with some of the snappiest, smoothest dialogue to ever roll off her tongue." But oh how I'll want to hear Eliza say it! lol ![]() Here's the link: http://new.ifmagazine.com/feature.asp?article=1963 Last edited by ThisYearsGuy : 03-13-2007 at 01:49 PM. |

| Junior Member ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | The only problem is, I don't expect to see Faith until about issue 5 or 6. And according to the iF interview, it's going to be published at the rate of about one issue every 5 weeks. That's 25 to 30 weeks from now, or about 7 months before the Faith issues start. They're expecting the entire Season 8 of 22 (+...?) issues to take two years to publish, whereas the show was nine months per season, and it may stretch as many as 30 issues. So, have patience, we waited 3 years for Season 8, and now it's here. As Bette Davis said, "Fasten your seatbelts, it's gonna be a bumpy ride." |

| Junior Member ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Well I got Issue #1 and I have finished it - its too short lol cos I want more! Thats a good thing though lol ![]() Faith fans will like a line on the sixth page! ![]() (I'll add what the line is and who said it hidden below - not at all spoilery in terms of storyline but I got a smile from reading it so perhaps some wouldn't want me to blurt it out before they get a chanceto read it themselves - just highlight if you wanna read) In relation to B being able to safely enter a building: Xander: You're five-by-five, Buf!" Seems like its catching on! ![]() Can't wait for the Faith arc now - I think it might be England based since that seems to be where one of the writers implied she might be (now that Sunnydale has gone) at the Q&A thing at the back of the issue. Not certain yet though obviously. ![]() Last edited by ThisYearsGuy : 03-22-2007 at 04:58 PM. |

| Junior Member ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Lol seems its only me so I apologise for posting 3 in a row - but when there's news there's news lol! An excerpt from a new interview with Georges Jeanty: After this arc there is a stand-alone story that Joss wrote. I won’t be drawing that one but I will be back on the next four issue arc that centers around Faith. That will be written by comic writer Brian K. Vaughn. I'm really excited about drawing Faith. I really like her as a character! Other than that I can't say much more only because I don't really know more. http://buffycomics.hellmouthcentral....rgesjeanty.htm I am really excited about him drawing Faith too - his work in issue #1 was superb and I am hopefully gonna be getting #2 in the post tomorrow! ![]() Also, there's a 6 page sneak peek on the making of issue #3 on the Dark Horse website if anyone is interested - spoilers very much abound but its a really interesting insight into the production! ![]() UPDATE: Rather than start another post I thought I'd just edit this one. I just got done reading issue #2 (sidebar: it rocks! ) and there is a mention of Faith's arc at the "Slay the critics" letters section at the back:(It's in the comic itself so its official but I will add in some very slight spoiler warning for anyone not wanting to know anything) As for Faith, I'm glad you asked. For those who haven't heard, Faith is gonna be the star of the second major arc of Season Eight. Written by one of the best writers in comics - and recent addition to the writing team of Lost - Brian K. Vaughan, and drawn by Georges, issues #6-9 follow Faith on a very unusual mission, from the Hellmouth in Cleveland to even more unfriendly environs in England. | Junior Member ![]() ![]() | Issue two of the long way home has already sold out even after an increased print run. So it will be interesting how quickly the faith arc sells. I cannot wait, although no doubt will be reading about it online because I cannot believe that already the comics sell for 30 bucks each for a first edition. |

| Junior Member ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Time for some news! Ok now this article I am linking to has SPOILERS! They aren't VERY specific but they do talk about upcoming scenes. http://www.wizarduniverse.com/magazi.../004478171.cfm I'll hide my comments in case anyone doesn't want to know anything at all. When I read "and a Slayer gone bad (in Vaughan’s issue #6 slated for September)" I got a bit worried about old habits coming back to haunt but then I saw that "bad girl Faith do her “My Fair Lady” impression to take down a high-society Slayer gone rogue!" and all was good - and pretty excitingly poetic eh?! | Junior Member ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | More! "That said, Brian will be doing his thing in terms of storytelling, so rhythms and setups will be very BKV. But when you hear Faith talk, you'd think Joss—or Drew, or Jane [Espenson], or Stephen [DeKnight]—were writing her. In Issue #6, there are lines so perfect that Joss was compelled to comment on what a great Faith line this or that was." http://www.stakesandsalvation.com/20...ott-allie.html |
