Eliza Dushku (Tru Calling) and Mike Vogel (Poseidon) are toplining the English-language teen-thriller Mamba, according to Variety.

The eight-week shoot begins next Monday in northern Spain's Basque Country under first-time Spanish director Alvaro de Arminan.

The movie is based on a screenplay written by Roderick and Bruce Taylor (The Brave One) and Cuadri (The Heart of The Earth).

Mamba turns on a group of surfer students who discover an old satanic board game called Mamba. Every time one person loses in the game, they suffer dire death.

International cast also includes Germany's actress Naike Rivelli (Casanova) and Spanish actors Gary Piquer (The Feast of The Goat), Alex O'Dogherty (Alatriste) and Martxelo Rubio (My Hero).

MADRID — North American thesps Eliza Dushku ("Tru Calling") and Mike Vogel ("Poseidon") are toplining the English-language teen-thriller "Mamba."

Structured as a domestic Spanish co-production, the around Euros 5 million ($6.4 million) pic is produced by Ma-drid/Andalusia-based Manufacturas Audiovisuales and Basque company Abra Prod.

Manufacturas owners Juan Carlos Orihuela and Antonio Cuadri have teamed with Billy Dietrich to produce the film. Abra Prod's partner Joxe Portela exec produces.

Pic is based on a screenplay written by Roderick and Bruce Taylor ("The Brave One") and Cuadri ("The Heart of The Earth").

This movie sounds... amusing. And also like it's been done before. Wasn't there some other movie about a board game that kills people? I swear I've heard of something like this before. I bet Eliza will have fun in Spain either way!

I think you mean Jumanji with Robin williams but nobody died in that Or maybe you meant another one. But there was a new movie about a video game where the people that got killed in the game died in real life the same way. I forgot the name of it. Samaire Armstrong was in it if i remember it right

Yeah, I agree about Blue Crush meets Jumanji. I thought of Jumanji immediately when I read about this film. I wonder if Eliza will actually be surfing in this. I remember reading that she tried to surf, but ended up crashing into some rocks and broke the beautiful board her South African friend lent to her.

After moving out to Hollywood a couple of years ago, Eliza's finally letting a little bit of the West Coast's vibe sneak in on her East Coast tough-girl personality. "I actually tried surfing for the first time recently," she says, sounding oddly guilty. And how'd that go? "How'd it go? I broke the surfboard," she says. "It was this beautiful fiberglass thing from South Africa that I'd borrowed from a friend, with his name engraved on it. Bam, right into the rocks."

I've just spent a lot of nights bored and reading every Eliza interview ever was a good way to pass the time, heh. That's the only reason why I'm knowledgable! And I'm good at retaining information, so all that reading stuck with me. I should be an Elizaologist.

Personnally, I'd be EXTREMELY surprised if she died in the film. They called the film a "teen thriller", which usually describes horror movies with low artistic aspirations. I assume, if Eliza really is toplining the film, that she plays the girl that doesn't get naked and doesn't get killed.

The fact that it's filmed in Spain may make it a little more interesting, though.

It makes me think she's more serious about her career than perhaps we'd thought she was. All these indy movies and the short made me think that was the direction Eliza wanted to take, but now a role in a teen thriller? Tells me she knows her market well
