Once someone has the disc, I can point them in the direction of a program that will tell them which region it is. |

As for the XBox360, I have a disc for the PS2 which unlocks the DVD player, and I know there was a similar product for the XBox. No idea about the 360 though. Like Matt says though, if S&B is region free then we shouldn't have any problems. | |

The opening sequences seem to have the actors finding their characters, this added to their portrayal of disconnection from what they wanted and to the audience’s disconnection from the characters, leaving us both feeling alienated and out of sorts. I guess it did set the tone for the movie though as it was an angsty foray into the world of sexual unknowns and awkward moments. This certainly is a movie that makes you empathize with the characters, you feel awkward when they do and bad right there with them. Although at times they seemed very natural at other times it was hard to rationalize, decipher or guess their motivations at all. Alice (Ellis) as I have fondly named him, (because it really sounded like that was his name) is not at all feminine but is an interesting character and very likable even when acting in a very unlikable manner. Renee, very nicely portrayed, also another likable character; that we can feel bad with and pray things get better for her. The psychiatrist does nothing to delve into or further the plot devices leading up to the sex nor does the one flashback scene, I can't help thinking once again that this film would have done better if it started with an exposition song, I've got to warn Buffy, there's every chance she might be next... oh wait wrong exposition song... whilst it may have been tedious it would have given some indication of why it was the characters did the things they did and why they were the way they were. Not much sleeping going on, talking and driving, awkwardness, more talking, more awkwardness, followed by awkward sex, G, C D, A, coda, could have been replaced by something much more real and in-depth than what brought us into the opening moments of the film – which wasn’t bad by any means but left us filling in the dots character wise. The other couple seemed nerdy and somewhat unsure of themselves they were very human but perhaps harder to relate to. With mixed feelings my brain spun out of control I felt bad for James because ultimately he was clinging onto the cracks in the foundation and he knew that he should let go but he couldn't... only to have his initial moment of clarity all but obliterated by a lack luster but sad epiphany at the same time as his partner finally thought she had hers. On the other hand, it was hard to conceive of what he thought his partner might be when one could conclude she was so far from what he was imagining in the first place. I felt bad for Renee and her budding actress friend, especially her friend. It felt like Alice's fantasy had turned out to be such a dud that Renee had all but given up on her own after it was seemingly ripped away first by Alice and then again by Heather. It was close, but no cigar... well cigars, but not a happy day in sight, nor a gay one, just some awkward sex with James which left me wondering why she said she wanted to do things with him when she actually didn't want to at all, one because she said so and two, because he neither had a girls name like Alice nor was he a girl. It didn't look pleasurable, but to give credit, I don't think it was supposed to be. Once again more delving and exploring at the start of the movie may have stopped me asking, Alice, Alice who the **** is Alice? After his little outburst which was directed at Rennee and Red, our fine Betty of the film. It made me want to delve deeper into his character and find out how it was that I could like him so much when he really was being an arse and what made him so insecure. The first could be that he was hot and endearing at times, the second I cannot answer. Despite all this the movie wasn't a bad one. Whilst it didn't do anything to make me ponder why people from the start of the movie would do what they did or why some couples continued to do so as alluded to by the therapist, it did make me question why people would sacrifice so much for something that was awkward and unenjoyable. It did stir emotions even without knowing the motivations behind actions. The characters did have many moments where they came to life and felt very real. The music was good. The movie left you questioning the overall message, if indeed there was one. Perhaps that human’s should use exploration to find themselves and be clear on what they want? Or that the end doesn't always justify the means and the end isn't always what we hoped for nor is the journey? New perspectives are gained from journeys regardless of whether we enjoyed them or categorized them as good or bad? Eliza could act her way out of anything with her eyes shut as long as it’s not called Soul Survivors? Who knows, but it did leave you wondering which is much better than not caring at all or wanting to rip your eyes out whilst mumbling about how that's an hour of your life you will never get back. There was only a tiny bit of eye gouging, after watching some sex, some talking and some breakfast that looked suspiciously like lunch. It was ok in my book :D Last edited by schmemmm : 01-19-2008 at 11:57 AM. |

I gotta say the highlight was the sneaky masturbating...also her getting ready to go to the appointment...when she was putting her shoes on and you saw her reflection in the mirror. I liked that bit too. And nothing can beat that voice saying 'I have always wanted to be with a woman' Last edited by Tash the Vampire Slayer : 01-19-2008 at 07:15 PM. |

But then again I am more of tv fan than a movie fan, it usually leaves for more character exploration which I like. |
