Yes, it is! Thirteen is one of my favorite movies ever. Pretty Persuassion is also right up there. I would love for Eliza to do some Evan-type roles. Sex and Breakfast sounds like something Evan might do, actually! That was my first thought upon reading the description of that movie.

Interview with Bryan Greenberg from 7 August in which he talks about Nobel Son a little.

Quote:
You’ve also done another film which is coming out in cinemas soon, haven’t you called Nobel Son?

Yeah, I’m going to see it next week. It’s an independent movie and also has Alan Rickman, Danny De Vito and Eliza Dushku in it. I play the son of Alan, who’s a Nobel Prize winning chemist, and I’m this introverted character, who’s doing my PHD thesis in cannibalism to piss him off. I just stay in the coffee shop all day drinking the free milk, reading books on cannibalism and playing Gameboy all day. It’s that kind of character. It’s fun; it’s a fun ride. It’s definitely a dark movie.

I believe you are also a singer and musician as well. Is it true that you got to sing some of your original songs on One Tree and have got an album coming out soon?

Yes I got the chance to do a couple which was great. That’s kinda what I’ve been doing with my time now is recording an album. Actually with the film Nobel Son they’re letting me put a song on the movie as well, which is cool. (Laughs)

Also, in an interview back in June, Paul Oakenfold said this about the movie

Quote:
"It's like 'Pulp Fiction' meets 'Snatch,'" he says of the movie, directed by Randy Miller. "It's kind of an MTV demographic, and they wanted more electronic music than traditional scores."

And now this!

According to the official band website for Emjay & The Atari Babies the release date for Nobel Son is 25 November!

Quote:

It's not on any release schedules.

http://www.boxofficemojo.com/schedul...weeks=4&p=.htm

It probably will only be in a few theaters, probably NY & LA. It would be next to impossible to get more than a handful of theaters for a film like that at that time since there are so many major studio films out then (there's 8 films being released that week). Especially since there isn't a trailer out yet and theater owners aren't going to want to pull bigger releases for something that's had no hype whatsoever.

Faith_Fan - but why does that list stop at Wed 22 Nov? Are no movies released the following weekend at all? One problem with the report on the Emjay website is that the 25th is a Saturday, and don't movies open on Fridays?

Looking at the list you linked though I'm not seeing a lot of small arthouse / indy movies listed, or am I reading it wrong?

Anything that's in bold is a major release. The rest are limiteds.

Most of the studios are releasing their films that week on Wednesday (Nov 22nd) because the 25th (Friday) is Thanksgiving.

I was hoping this would be a bigger release, and putting it out that week is going to possibly doom it.

There's so many smaller films being released around that time by the arthouse studios (Sony Classics, Fox Searchlight, Warner Independent, Picturehouse, etc) trying to build Oscar hype, that it's going to be hard to get any attention for a movie lacking a big budget advertising campaign.

Considering we can barely find any info about Nobel Son, there hasn't been an advertising campaign and it's three months before release. No website, no trailer, no poster, no screenings at film festivals. WTF?

I was hoping it would too, as my colleague will be there and was going to get the scoop for us all here. Bugger.

Faith_Fan - thanks for explaining that. It does seem kind of weird that 2 sources connected to the soundtrack seem to be under the impression the movie will be out in November, but I guess (as ever) we'll have to wait and see.

I know this is totally off topic to Nobel Son but when I read that I totally chanelled Bring it On!

"The UCA just posted the list for the nationals and East Compton arent on it"

I think that is the line.....anyway I read that and while it is bad news that it isnt on the list it still made me smile

That sounds like the right line Tash. That's where Eliza comes into the gym to tell the news.

IMDB was listing Nobel Son as "in production" until today, but now it's back at post-production and on the status it says that the movie will "be released early next year".

Also, someone at the Nobel Son boards on IMDB claimed that they saw the movie and that City Hall "rocks", appears a lot and is one of the main characters lol

I dont really want to start the whole nudity debate again but this one has me a little confused. What does everyone make of the comment on IMDB that Nobel Son is rated "Definately R. Eliza shows some skin!"?.

I usually dismiss this kind of comment on IMDB out of hand, but I'm fairly sure its either from one of the producers or someone who works for the production company.

They also said that 'City' Hall's real first name is Sharon.

But that's the right order for a film being made... 'in production' and then 'post production', where they make all the edits etc...

As for the 'showing some skin' remarks on IMDB, they are the kind of threads I avoid like the plague lol, but I checked it out on Ben's recommendation and when you look at the other topics that poster has contributed too I'd say they were definitely connected to the movie's producers.

It moved from 'post production' back to 'in production' for a few weeks before being changed back to 'post production' again. I wondered if that meant they'd had to reshoot some scenes, which could explain the delays in getting it released?

Ben, can you link to the post on IMDb about the nudity?

Edit: I found it, don't worry.
