I thought you'd might Simon. I wonder to what she was referring to when she mentioned the props?

Yeah that would be a good start. But I'm not into (to quote Eliza being Buffy in Who are You?) ''bondage fun''. But it is Eliza.... I guess I've said too much!

Hi,

I'm new to the boards here. I can't find it anywhere, but I'm going crazy trying to find out about how when and where I can see "Nobel Son." Is it only out at independent theaters for a brief time and is coming to DVD soon? Or does nobody know when it will be watchable by anyone? This is driving me CRAZY, can someone tell me? PLEASE can somebody tell me?

Nobel Son premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival on April 28 and received brilliant reviews, really great ones. But that's it.

We're just waiting now. Recently there was an article out saying that Voltage Pictures had acquired the rights for distribution internationally, but it's not a really big company, so I don't know.

"On Broadway" is being screened at many festivals non-stop, "The Alphabet Killer" will be released in October (every single site says that yet I have no idea who's distributing it), "Open Graves" was being sold at Cannes so we don't know if anything happened but we should be getting a trailer anytime now, and "Sex and Breakfast" is scheduled for 2008.

Thank you two for being so welcoming. I have another Nobel Son question that I think ya'll might not know for certain as well, I'm sorry to ask such tough ones. But do you know what the band(or singer) is that is playing the song in the background of when Eliza strips? It sounds like Marilyn Manson, and does anyone know the name of the song?

Or shucks, I'm asking stuff that's too far away to find the answer for.

I think the entire movie is composed by instrumental techno/electronic music created by Paul Oakenfold.

I'll go with you guys. Wasn't it said somewhere when the film was being made that he was doing the sound track?

Mark Adler and Paul are the composers as I understand it. And it's on Perfecto Records, Paul's record label. Apparently it's 'out now' but I've not seen it to buy anywhere.

It's all in this thread...

Quote:
Just read this about the movie's soundtrack, written by the composer, Mark Adler.

Quote:
I've just finished co-composing the score for NOBEL SON with producer and re-mix artist Paul Oakenfold. The result of our collaboration is an edgy track combining techno/electronica grooves and agitato strings. Alan Rickman plays researcher Eli, who wins the Nobel Prize in Chemistry. His trip to Stockholm with wife Sarah (Mary Steenburgen) is cut short when his son Barkley (Bryan Greenburg) is kidnapped and held for ransom by Thaddeus (Shawn Hatosy). Thaddeus reveals himself to be Eli's illegitimate son, who now wants to displace Barkley as Eli's "genuine" son. The two brothers start a fight that involves not only money but also Barkley's girlfriend, City Hall (Eliza Dushku). Danny Devito plays an eccentric neighbor and Bill Pullman is the detective trying to get to the bottom of it all. This is my fourth collaboration with director Randall Miller, who co-wrote the script with his wife Jody Savin. Watch for a theatrical release this fall.
Original post here

This is what Variety said about the soundtrack:

"...enjoyably titillating black comedy should elate Rickman fans while pleasing aficionados of extra-flakey caper flicks...Tech credits maintain the film's momentum throughout, Paul Oakenfold and Mark Adler's techno-beat rhythms pumping up the action with occasional breaks for irony."
