Arrow Wrong Turn

I saw Wrong Turn couple days ago for the first time on TNT; and I read some comments you guys had on the movie in some other threads, and really?? You guys all here agree that it was a good movie?? wow! I've been a Eliza fan since I was 14 and saw her in True Lies, I thought "man, she's a hottie" Then I saw here on Bring it on, and then The New Guy, and then I thought "my God, this girl just keeps on getting hotter and hotter!" But I'm enough of a fan to critize what I like, and I gotta say Wrong Turn . . . . .Ouch! But really, no one else here thinks that movie was bad, b/c if I'm the only person whom feels this way, that'll be cool. Maybe I just have a weird taste in movies, but first off, I hate movies with humans eating humans, the worst plot, I thought. and second, how is Eliza's acting good in that movie? I must've missed it. I personlly thought Eliza's best movie was The New Guy. I never even caught one episode of Tru Calling, 'cause that's how much of a fan I am of her's. I knew that show would be horrific. But Wrong Turn . . . Man, was that movie bad. literally one of the worst movies ever, in my opinion. Don't hate me 'cause I didn't like it, I just wanna know what you guys liked about it?

Oh, and I know I misspelled 'TURN' in the topic, but there was no way to edit it. So, make fun of me for that if you'd like.

WoW, kinda harsh at times in your post, don't ya think? I don't think anyone can hate you for your opinions... but I do disagree with you. It all comes down to your tastes and such. I personally love horror movies. Ok, so maybe the inbred thing was a bit weird but hey it's not to far fetched. Have you seen "Jeepers Creepers?" That's the kind of horror movie I hate, when it seems impossible.

Again, about Eliza's acting, I thought she was great in it but everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Actors effect people different, when they can make me feel what they are trying to portray, to me that's a good actor. Whether they are generally seen as "one of the bests" or "one of the worsts" means nothing to me, because usually I tend to disagree. If I can watch a movie or whatnot and feel sad, scared, happy or whatever emotion is suppose to come through then they've done there job. Only a few actors tend to do that for me, others are complete jokes, but again different folks different strokes.

Tru Calling was good and so was Eliza in it. She tends to play strong female characters which is always great to watch and a bit empowering. Tru was that type of character and Eliza played her perfectly...unfortunately it didn't work out. I'm not sure why exactly, not the best writing...people just suck and didn't give it a chance, not sure. But I do think you missed out, you should have at least watched it and gave it and Eliza a chance!

It almost seems like by your post that you are more of a fan of her looks then acting in general...I could be wrong. But maybe that's why you weren't so impressed by Wrong Turn, because she wasn't riding a bull like in The New Guy...haha. She was tied to a bed though...I guess that didn't impress you much, lol. I don't know what to tell you, really. Because honestly, this line doesn't make sense to me: "I never even caught one episode of Tru Calling, 'cause that's how much of a fan I am of hers. I knew that show would be horrific." Question for you: how much of a fan do you have to be not to support her just because you think it's going to be bad??? ::giving you a puzzled look::

Eliza is human, she's gonna make mistakes or maybe movies you don't really like or have an interest in. It happens, but the least you can do as a fan is just support her and move on. So, you didn't like a few of the more recent things she's done...well wait until her news movies come out and watch her impress you! If she doesn't then I really think you just like her because she's "hot." Which she is gorgeous can't argue that, when I met her last Oct. I couldn't take my eyes off her...and I'm a straight female. lol. Although some of it was I couldn't believe she was right there.

I can't speak for everyone, but I liked Eliza's performance in Wrong Turn. Not necessarilly the movie itself

I'm not saying anything anymore as I guess I'm too controversial to express my opinions so I'll just sit back and observe.

I can honestly say I would've liked it even without Eliza. it all depends on what kinda movies you like and appearantly this wasn't your cup of tea.

I sure liked it tho

Each to their own. No-one's wrong here. But why didn't you watch the pilot of Tru? Just to see what it was like.

I love almost all horror movies, so I probably can't judge fairly, but let me tell you I've seen a hell of a lot worse.

For me Wrong Turn was one of those movies that was so bad it was actually good. It seemed kind of predictable, and the way they made the Mountain Men practically invincible was quite humorous. I really liked this movie.
The original poster didn't seem too crazy about Eliza's acting in this movie but I felt her acting was as consistent as it always is. I thought she did a great job.
Like andrewr mentions "No-one's wrong". It's just differing tastes.

Whew! I asked for your feedback and I got it. I also appreciate no one ripping me apart for saying it was a bad movie. But I agree, we all have diff. taste, and this movie definitely wasn't my cup of tea. and as for me never catching an episode of Tru Calling, I'm not just a fan of Eliza 'cause she's gorgeous, b/c if I were then I would be watchin the show, I just personally hate it when I see celeb's I like and celeb's I know whom are capable of quality material, give in and commit to sitcoms. Which is why I wasn't crazy about Eliza doing a show on Fox, which is why I'm not crazy about Jen Love's show Ghost Whisperer. I just feel them two are too good for sitcoms, but a good point was made by LoveAndElizaFan; As a fan, the very least I could do is support them no matter what it is.

I'm still not gonna watch either show though, LOL. I rather watch them on a big screen, but hey, that's just me.

Neither Tru Calling or Ghost Whisperer is a sitcom. Weren't you aware of that fact or did you just meant something else?

I meant television shows in general. I know there's no live audience for Ghost whisperer, I just meant, I don't think they should be doing television shows with their talents. They should only be doing movies, Damn I need to hurry up and finish college and become a director and just cast those two in all my movies. Hmmmmm, Eliza and Jennifer love Hewitt in a movie together?? Dare I say Brokeback Mountain sequal?

hehe, I'd watch that movie.

I liked Wrong Turn - movies like that are never great art, but I thought it was quite effective and Eliza had the right amount of moxie for the "survivor girl" part.

Also I'm happy to see the stars I like on TV. Doing TV work doesn't have the stigma it used to - look at Kiefer Sutherland, or Donald Sutherland or Glenn Close or Gary Sinise... the list goes on and on. It's common to mix movies and TV now. Plus a TV show means regular doses of their goodness.

Usually, I would agree that movies are better than t.v. shows, but Eliza's most accomplished projects were by far Angel and Buffy. Even JLH may never have been better than in Po5.

I don't know how you can rip Eliza for her acting in Wrong Turn... The scene where she's hiding under the bed... The scene where she's tied down... the one where she's in the tree acting as bait and shaking with fear, and her voice is raw with terror... she's nothing short of amazing.

I agree, that scene where she is under the bed hiding was some of her best acting IMO. Even if the nasty director did upset her to get it :(

I'd have to agree w/most here: you have to be someone that appreciates the lesser qualities of a B horror movie or slasher flicks to really get into WT. If you're not into that genre, you can't really complain when you expect an award-winning performance if that's what you may have thought. But, then again, I'm one who goes to movies moreso to be entertained rather than learn stuff w/my neanderthal brain unless I'm in that particular movie mode.

Default Wrong Turn moment...

Just a funny story I had to tell:

I had a wrong turn deja vu yesterday driving down from Albany to Mount Pocono, PA to fill in for a manager's position here. Once I got off the main interstate to head into the head of the Poconos, it was really reminiscent of WT in that the houses/cars I saw were few and far between. The houses looked kinda back-woodsey, so to speak. I even had fun trying to swap CD's in/out of the player like the guy in the movie did around the winding curves. At one point, I started taking mental inventory of survival stuff I had in my trunk in case I wound up off the road in a back alley ditch somewhere, as neurotic as that sounds. Glad I came here while it was still light out...

Made me wonder if Eliza spent any time touring real back roads drives to get the isolation feeling down for the role. I had it in ~5 minutes.

There's some area's near you around Altamont, Berne, etc that are just like that. You can almost here Dueling Banjo's playing from behind the trees.

^Lol Bill. Glad you made it to your destination. I bet if you hadn't seen WT you may not have thought about it much. Good to know you were thinking about the survival gear.
