There is absolutely nothing you can do to save it. Instead, they wanted the fans to send their appreciation to the cast and crew. SupportAngel.com/RenewAngel.com did nothing to save Angel after that. All they did was start collecting messages from fans to the Angel cast and crew. (Of course, then SavingAngel.org stepped in) With Wonderfalls, Tim also insisted that there was nothing that fans could do. Not to waste our money on a Variety ad. Since barely anyone seems interested whatsoever in a Save Tru campaign, I thought I'd go with the Mutant Enemy approach and do the messages from the fans. As for the cake, when fans sent the cast and crew of Angel and Firefly cakes, that was the biggest thing to them. If I can do something to brighten their day, that's all I want. I care about Eliza. Remember what Joss said about Angel's cancellation - he felt like Buffy in the first act of The Body. I compare that to talking to Joss at The Saturn Awards, with the crew from the Save Angel rallies there, and that's the only thing I want to do for Eliza. MutantBoosters.com is collecting a book of postcards to be presented to David Boreanaz at the Halloween Buffy con in the UK. I'll see if they'd be interested in doing something for Eliza. Responses to fanbooks and postcard books are often underwhelming, just like your Tru campaign. I was one of a number people who worked on cheeb's fandisc earlier this year and most of the content that ended up on the disc was graphics and fic that was on cheeb's site originally. Starting something new up is just going to spread our fanbase even thinner, if you really want to help out it would be better to just publicise current projects like I'm trying to do. |

I'm getting worried, since The WB picked up Jack & Bobby for a full season last week (despite ratings as weak as Tarzan's). The last I heard, The WB was their main target and 20th was trying to work out a deal. Sounded like more than a courtesy call. If that didn't work, UPN would be next, so I've been trying to find out if UPN is the new target. Last year with Angel, UPN said they weren't picking up any other failed shows. Their new lineup isn't doing that well, but they've got some great new dramas and have been successful with reality shows, so that's probably still the case. I was hoping before The WB cans J&B, replaces it with Tru, since J&B and Charmed don't appeal to the same audience. But The WB is holding on to J&B, they have three midseason replacements to replace The Mountain with. Tru's too expensive for Scifi or FX, so UPN would be the last chance. I'm not sure Eliza will say anything about it at the London Expo (otherwise I'd fly out there, but I have a martial arts tournament that weekend). I get the impression 20th has a gag order about the whole situation with Tru and Eliza probably won't be too keen to bring it up, especially overseas. |
