| I know Eliza shares the same manager as SMG and a few other big names, but also have this vague impression that she belongs to this pretty huge & competitive artiste agency in the states. I can't remember the name but I think it has the word 'creative' in it. Is she still with the same manager or did she do a switch somewhere? I love TC but I really miss seeing Eliza on the big screens. Don't ask me what that has to do with my question though LOL. Anyone with any information? |

| ICM = International Creative Management. SMG switched agencies a couple of weeks ago though. She is now with William Morris. So that means she'll have a different agent. I'm not sure if that would mean a change in manager also or not though. Or maybe agents and managers are sometimes the same person. I don't know. It all gets a bit confusing. |

| In that case, ignore my comment about ICM. I just made that assumption because I thought I'd read that she also had the same agent as SMG at one stage, but maybe that was just confusion with the manager thing. ETA: I found the following quote: Quote:
Changes in agency often come about because the agent repping a star changes company, and so the celebrity moves with them because they want to continue to work with that person. So yeah; very confusing and very hard to keep track. [ June 14, 2004, 01:20 PM: Message edited by: Impossible ] | |

She used to be their agent at ICM until a few year ago when she formed the management company, The Firm (fka AMG- Artists Management Group). She also manages Adrien Brody and he thanked her at the Oscars. Eliza and Sarah were then repped by Eddie Yablans at ICM. Growing up, Sarah and Eliza had the same manager too. I forget her name, but she only managed child actors. In 2002, Eliza left ICM to go to CAA (Creative Artists). Last week, Sarah left ICM to sign with WMA (Wm Morris). Agents typically get 10%, manager 20%. Managers are on your side, agents are just there to get you work. [ June 14, 2004, 04:23 PM: Message edited by: Faith_Fan ] |

Really, just from a whole bunch of articles about Eliza and knowing a lot about agents and managers and all of that. I used to work at a company on Wilshire Blvd that ran entertainment industry websites that deal with this kind of stuff. |

| While I was looking for the answer to this question, I came across a bunch of articles discussing how the big agencies e.g. ICM, William Morris etc, etc had put up their percentage from 10 to 15% which was in line with other agencies. So it looks like it's commonplace for agents to get 15% these days. So agents get 15%, managers get 20%, then there are business managers once stars are fairly successful (something which I'd imagine Eliza has), attorneys and publicists. Then on what they have left, they have to pay income tax. It makes you realise that while television and movie stars are still making a bunch of money, they're not making nearly as much as it seems when you see the figure for their gross pay on a project. | Hey thanks all of you for these information. I always had this impression that the agent takes a 20%-30% cut.. but that was under the assumption that the agent also plays the role of managing the artiste. Great & interesting stuff. Anyways heh it is confusing how she's represented by one firm and yet managed by another. Im imagining there'd be clashes of many people's interests.. But yeah remember her mentioning once in a Q&A article that there was something she wasnt really sure about and would speak to her publicist. With so many people involved I wonder how much of each film/role's decision is really purely Eliza's own fancy. (apart from the commissions taken off her) [ June 15, 2004, 11:36 AM: Message edited by: trubratgal ] |

| Junior Member ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Sometimes agent's fee is taken care of by the production company or studio if you're a big star. Of course, it's the working actors making scale that could use that type of help, but that's the way it goes. High profile actors do get paid well, but they don't see much of it. There's so many expenses. Living that Hollywood lifestyle is so expensive too. Not that it's anything to complain about since they're living better than most of us, but there's a lot of people making money off of actors. |
