| Wow. Great episode from start to finish. Definately my favorite episode of the series so far. Loved how Tru's dad returned and set up a real story arc...everything fit so well in this episode. And Eliza was amazing in the alley scene when Tru was talking about her mom dying...some of Eliza's best work yet. Definately loved how it broke away from your average TC episodes...interesting subplots like who killed Tru's mom and how Tru is dealing with her death all these years later. And I was actually intruiged by Jason Preistley's character. All in all, I loved the episode and great great work Eliza. |

| Member ![]() | Let’s review… I totally agree with you, Andrew. This was the best episode of the show so far. Magnificient work by Eliza. And yes, Jason Priestley was very intriguing. But enough copying your post. The epsiode was not only one of the best storywise, it was also shot very beautifully and tightly gripping a times. Jesus Trevino is not a new name to me as director of TV shows, and he has always found some nice ways to visually steer an episode away from the forumula without destroying the general mood of the show. It also featured a very haunting music score in certain scenes, especially the prologue (which was terrific and perfectly setting a darker tone for the episode to come), the scenes with Tru and her father at the morgue, and just before Tru got attacked at home. It created a atmosphere that underlined the emotional depth very well. (Altough I kinda get a little tired of the always present “drumroll” type of score during action sequences and the seconds before the calling happens.) The story and it’s character arc was quite impressive. The Davies Family suffered a lot of darkness in their lives, and everyone has obviously a lot of unfinished buisness to deal with. The main problem with all the family members is that they grew apart very early in the kids’ lives. Nobody was ever able to see how the other felt, especially towards the death of their mother. So as sad as this sounds, only a similar emotional experience could bring them back together. The death of another loved one is not only a tragedy here, but also an opportunity to start making things better. It doesn’t mean that the issues will be easily solved now, but Tru and her relatives got a better idea of the things that actually went wrong and drove the family apart. The scene at the morgue with Tru and her father was a first step. When Tru watched her father going in, you could easily see her waiting for the calling, but, and that’s even more important, she asked herself why her mother didn’t call her… But the answer to that question will not be an easy one. Maybe her mother knew that her husband was the one who hired the killer. And so she didn’t wanna get Tru in danger. Or Tru was simply too young to hear her calling. Bet Jack might carry the answer, and the fact that he was dead already makes things very interesting. And not to mention the fact that Tru’s father is the one behind his wife’s murder. That will give room for very emotional and psychologically intense moments in future episodes. All in all, a perfect Tru Calling. Jason Priestley never stroke me as a bad actor (I loved his work in Eye Of The Beholder). 90210 was just not the show to develop a wide acting range. But here he can play a character with a lot of potential, and mystery. And I’m sure he will pull it off just fine. Don’t see him as Brandon Walsh anymore, see him as Jack Harper, and maybe he will surprise you. ;) I don’t have to mention Eliza’s stunning work of acting to you, but she just gets better every week. She has this inner balance of strength and vulnerability that makes her so lovable, and all her roles so deeply human and natural. It was there as Faith, but now as Tru it’s an even bigger asset. It’s a quality that will bring Eliza very far in her career. She acts, but she really makes us believe she doesn’t. See ya next week! It’ll be hard to top this one. Greets Lambsilencer |

| sorry to bring back an old thread, but i'v been downloading the TC epps recently, after finding that 'm too impatient to wait for them weekly (only to find they get delayed anyway!) So yeah i'v been downloading them from longest day up to daddy's girl, i just finished watching this epp and i just felt compelled to talk about it! What an amazing episode!! WOW!!! everyone was right this series does get better with each episode, and i take back every bad word i said about the show at the begining of its season. Tru's dad, i'm just baffled, i have to admit when i saw him talking to that guy in the alley, the very first thing that went through my mind was that he paid the guy to kill tru's mum, but when i found that out at the end?!!!whoah, that knocked me for six! I just wanna know why he did it now, and god does my heart go out to Tru, Harrison, and merideth. I really hope they go into the details of what was going on between her mum and dad. The only thing i can think of is money. But it just doesnt sit right for some reason, i think theres more to it. Jason did a great job with jack, i was a little bit suspicious at times with his character, i'm not gonna trust him entirely yet. But yeah, i would say this is easily one of the best episodes yet, although somehow i dont think it would have quite the same affect if the previous episodes didnt build up to it so well. I really hope this show does well in the UK, i think its still a little on the quiet side, is there anywhere on the net where we can see viewing figures for sky one's shows? |

| Okies.. i so need to go get this episode. Gonna go get it now.. but I simply felt compelled to reply to lambsilencer. That comment about Eliza's portrayal of strength and ability to hold her own and yet exude a certain vunerability is one added asset to her as an actress. And its amazingly sexy too, for lack of a better word Edited to gush: Aww... All her crying in this episode broke my heart. I love the way she played this episode.. was great to see how she negotiated being bitter and yet vunerable. My fave 2 seconds in the whole episode was when grown up Tru was wiping a tear from her face while hiding in the cupboard and the guy opened it holding a gun. The fear, strength AND the child-likeness at that instant was just.. *gush* [ June 29, 2004, 03:55 PM: Message edited by: trubratgal ] |
