Reporting from Wizard World Convention at Philadelphia

I just got back from the Wizard World Philadelphia Convention. I stood line at the front for 3.5 hours for her meet and autograph. At noon Eliza stepped out of the curtain and took her seat. When she did, everyone applauded and can be heard throughout the exhibit hall. The press corps took first photos before the fans. Soon it was my turn to the table. Eliza was wearing a white jacket with a pink top and black pants. (I think it was black pants. I was paying attention to her lovely face.) :D I asked her how she liked Philly, and she said that she just arrived about 2 hours ago, but she is loving every minute of it. She signed the two photos I had and commented how unique my name was. We kind of empathized about how rough having an uncommon name can be growing up. I told her that David B. is in town visiting family. Eliza responded that she will “call that boy up.” After a couple photos, including a cheek-to-cheek pose, I was on my way happy. As I exited the signing area, I saw how long the line is. I looked like that there are least 1000 people there. The schedule is a bit screwy because from 1:00pm to 2:00pm she is scheduled for a Q&A session at an audience room before returning to the signing area for a couple more hours.

There was a lot of questions at the sessions so here are what I was able to get notes from:

- Eliza is working on an untitled project this summer before production of “Tru Calling” starts up for the second season.

- She was coming in from New York doing the Fox Upfront Events. She was excited from being picked up for a second season of “Tru Calling“.
During the filming of “Jay & Silent Bob Strikes Back”, Kevin Smith nicknamed her “Duck Shoe”.

- During filming of “Tru Calling”, she and Zac always cut each other down jokingly to keep the set light.

- When she and Jason Priestly first met on the set, Jason’s first words were “Good Rack”.
Eliza was promoting her non-profit organization for inner city camps. She encouraged all her fans to give whatever they can to the worthy cause.

- She talked about “Wrong Turn” and how she had to reach inside her to bring out every emotion, from fear to anger.

- Eliza didn’t see the Angel finale because of the Fox Upfront Events. :(

- She mentioned that she never cussed. I had to call her on that. So when my turn can around, I asked her if she is going to get Ashton for getting Punk’d. She laughed and said that she can’t do any practical jokes that elaborate. I further commented that she did cussed when she got Punk’d. Everyone laughed and Eliza jokingly said that the cussing was just a rumor. :rolleyes: She later acknowledged that it was the few times she actually cussed. On a back story on it, she was filming the Buffy finale and had 20 minutes to get back to the lot when she got Punk’d. Her first thought when she was told that the police were called, her first thought was “Can Mutant Enemy post bail on her?” Of course she was relieved it was a practical joke.

- It’s official, from her mouth! ELIZA IS SINGLE AND UNATTACHED!!!!!!! [img]graemlins/goofy.gif[/img]

- Eliza do not know the release date of her movie “The Kiss” and doubt that it will be released. She said that the director have the final cut and was not happy with it.

- Eliza is Danish-Albanian. She jokingly said that her last name mean in Albanian “incredible lover”. That both a big roar from the crowd. She then corrected herself and said that it mean “oak tree”.

- She would not pose Playboy anytime soon, but she does not consider posing for Playboy as an act of desperation. She also admired and loved Charisma Carpenter for going through Playboy, especially after having a baby.

- Eliza wants to have babies, but not right now. She is busy with film, TV, and promo trips that she has no time for a family. She is thinking that when she hits 30, Eliza will start having a family.

After the session, a big round of applause and standing ovation erupted when Eliza floated out the room with flash bulbs going offal around her. I didn’t go back up to the exhibit hall because I have accomplished my mission: pictures, autographs, and a good Q&A session.

That is my full report on the appearance of Eliza Dushku at the Wizard World Convention at Philadelphia. In a week or so, I will post some pictures after I watermark them to prevent Ebay scalpers. If anyone was at the convention and wants to add anything, feel free to do so.

Thanks for that incredible report!Now,we found out some new facts about her like she's single(she and Roman Diaz are not dating),she's working on an untitled project,and her last name Dushku means oak tree.Probably,I'm gonna search for some Albanian to English translated words.Thanks again for that report and waiting for 3.5 hours pays off,we can't wait for your pics from the event! Wow, thanks for the great in depth report. Glad to here that you had a great time and got a few good pics with her (tries not to be too jealous ;) )There's a few things I didn't know there, like when she got Punk'd being the last day of Buffy. Great to hear that TC's been confirmed, I just wonder what Eliza's response was to Jason's 1st words to her. I'm just wondering what the untitled project is. Could it be an Indie movie? Or a small role in a bigger film? Can't wait to find out. Thanks for all the info again.

Heh Im very excited to know more about her new project. I sure hope its some good film that will boost her career.. No way will Fox bear to drop this beautiful starlet. Thanks for the report! I first read it on the tru calling forum :D

Heh, Playboy, "Nice Rack" and "Incredible Lover", it all seems quite low brow compared to the Comic Con Q&A session. Guess that's what happens when you let a certain kind of Eliza fan into the event. ;)

BTW, that wasn't directed at you Freakface, you might be low brow but I don't know you.

Edit: I take back my nasty comment about Jason Priestley. Wizard's report from the convention says that Jason Mewes was the one who said "Good rack" to Eliza, not Priestley.

Sounds great! Put's a bit of a downer on B'ham though, we weren't even allowed pics with her. Ah well, thats what we get for being born in England!!
