| Junior Member ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Tru Calling won't be back on until March 4th at the earliest. Fox is airing movies both Feb 19th and Feb 26th. That's a sweeps month, where ad rates are set. So Fox is airing programming on Thursdays that typically does better than Tru/reality shows so that they can get more money when they do air Tru/reality shows in March-May. Otherwise they'd be loosing money airing them since the ratings Tru has doesn't bring in enough ad revenue to support airing an expensive scripted show like Tru. Plus Fox is moving their new hyped reality soap opera, Forever Eden, to Thursday at 9pm starting March 18th. That will receive a lot of attention. In March, Friends will be probably mostly reruns, and CBS won't have Survivor on for several Thursdays due to NCAA Basketball. So that's the time for Fox to promote their new & improved Tru Calling starring Jason Priestley. It would just get buried in February. Also, there's no Tru Calling March 11th due to the Image Awards. So American Beauty will probably air March 4th, then Daddy's Girl (the first Priestley episode) will air March 18th along with the timeslot premiere of Forever Eden. | Junior Member ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | In in way it's not so bad, since it gives Tru a real chance in March-April. But I agree it is hard for viewers to find and follow the show. I'm figuring that Fox will air Episodes 14-20 from March 18-April 29th. Then Fox puts on junk or movies on Thursdays in May to avoid all of the Friends finale hoopla and the final episodes of All Star Survivor. So hopefully Fox will air an uninterrupted string of episodes. But the worst thing about all of this is that Tru Calling wraps production on March 23rd. They'll start pre-production on the final episode before Episode 13 even airs. Knowing Fox, they'll have them do another cliffhanger type ending (like what happened last year with John Doe) and the show will go into summer hiatus not knowing if it has or hasn't been renewed. | This hiatus isn't so bad...for practically every Angel season so far we've had an almost two month gap between new episodes. This one isn't even a month. But thats for already fans of the show, FF and Foo are right that it'll be hard for new fans who won't even see it on the air for a few weeks and will have no clue where/how to find it. I hope Forever Eden helps out Tru Calling. At least it will be aired with an original episode of SOMETHING other than specials like Wedding Outtakes. I'm sick of seeing it teamed up with encores of Fat Fiance or whatever it is and The O.C. It'll be with new episodes of Forever Eden. And I'm REALLY hoping there won't be a huge cliffhanger ending...I don't expect a second season sadly, and I don't want to end up like the John Doe fans not even knowing what the hell happened and never actually finding out. Too bad the cast and crew wouldn't be able to know beforehand so they could write a finale that had closure for the show and characters. And a lot of people are condemning Jason joining the show, but I think it could help in the ratings. Hes a bad actor, but I've watched movies and even some shows with horrible actors. I can handle it. I just hope/think his character will add something extra to the show, and change it for the better. The worse thing will be if it goes over horribly and it actually turns off fans completely. [ February 14, 2004, 07:34 PM: Message edited by: Andrew ] |
