At least the Buffyverse will be going out on somewhat of a high, I don't think this season has been near the series peak of last year but it's still been very good. Let's just hope the producers can wrap it up well, it really deserves to go out with a bang. |

| Member ![]() | No doubt Joss will ask UPN to pick up the show. And if they're smart, they will... ;) And if not, the WB is still discussing Angel TV movies after the show is done. So there can still be some room for Faith... I don't think we've seen the last of Angel after May. Greets Lambsilencer |

| Junior Member ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I'm getting the impression Fox isn't fighting the WB on this one either. I think the problem is that the WB doesn't have many timeslots available on their fall schedule for new shows, especially if they keep One Tree Hill for another season. Fox has a huge investiment in this new Lost In Space pilot (written/produced by Doug Petrie). Smallville/Lost in Space works well on Wednesday. Fox stands to make a lot of money on a Lost in Space franchise. If the WB wants to launch new shows following Smallville and Charmed, then there's no room for Angel. Thursdays is a possibility, but the WB typically gets such low ratings they can't justify airing a scripted show when they can air cheap reality junk instead. UPN is having huge problems bringing in viewers. Enterprise might be canceled, Jake already has been. But cheap reality shows like Top Model and black comedies do so much better than shows like Buffy or Jake, that you wonder if they will pick up an expensive show like Angel. I think it would take commitments from Sarah and any other Buffy castmembers who are available (probably Aly or Eliza) doing substantial guest appearances for UPN to be interested, and maybe they have made it clear they won't appear. It's just speculation at this time what's going on. Maybe Fox is talking to UPN. They own most of their stations and have a lot of influence with them. Angel makes Fox a lot of money in dvd sales, syndication, overseas distribution. Fox is loosing millions not having an Angel S6. The only reason News Corps was profitable last year was the profits from shows like Buffy and Angel (which is partially why Fox is desperate to develop new hit shows, ie Lost in Space). Or The WB could look at their finished pilot and say - these are going to bomb like Tarzan and Birds of Prey, we better have something to put on like Angel just in case. As I said before, I'm not letting Angel go down without a fight. At least it shows the interest in the show, and then maybe we get tv or theatrical movies. | ^Probably because it's cheaper...and it's only in its first year, so they would hope they could get maybe five years or so out of it, when Angel at best would be one more year. If you also throw in the fact that the ratings probably relatively close(seeing as Angel isn't doing that good)that's your answer. [ February 14, 2004, 07:31 PM: Message edited by: IKillChildren ] |
