| Junior Member ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Buffy's first season didn't do that poorly. It did about the same as Tru Calling, and built considerably in reruns over the summer. The hype leading into Buffy Season 2 was enormous, even more than the hype for The OC now. If you compare the Nielsen ratings: Buffy TC Pilot 2.8 3.2 Season 1 Finale 3.4 2.9 Also, a lot of people online back in 1997 complained they couldn't watch Buffy since they didn't have a WB station in their area too. There weren't that many WB affiliates then. As for TC on the WB, the WB did pickup Jack & Bobby for a full 22 episodes. But the ratings for J&B are in doing horrible. The ratings for the Mountain are even worse. The WB is doing a last ditch effort to save The Mountain by adding James Marsters as a potential reoccuring cast member. One Tree Hill has doubled its number of viewers since last year, so the WB will probably want to try to stick with these shows to see if they can repeat that. But the ratings keep sliding, so who knows. For midseason, the WB has done two pilots - Global Frequency (which had that whole Amber Benson controversy) and Rocky Point (another Hawaii show starring the guy from Tarzan). It was expected that those two shows would get series orders, but they haven't so far. The WB also has Summerland coming back for a 2nd season sometime in early 2005. The WB's whole Thursday lineup has crashed and burned. TC might be too expensive for the WB on Thursdays, unless 20th gives it to them for next to nothing. The question is whether or not the WB would rather go with one of their pilots, stick with J&B and The Mountain, or pickup TC. So until we hear that the WB has picked up Global Frequency or Rocky Point, and if the ratings for J&B and THe Mountain continue plummit, the WB might take a chance on a proven show rather than risking more failures.
