Talking with Star Mag during "Happy Endings" promotions, the actor said "We all caught up - Jim [Cameron], Jamie [Lee Curtis], Eliza [Dushku], Bill [Paxton] and myself - to talk about True Lies 2 about a month ago in Cali. We're doing it. Definitely doing it. I'm revved. Unlike Terminator, which I think they're doing without Arnold, Jim's prepared to wait for the big guy. So am I. I've been waiting for ten years now - I'm sure I can hang on a few more months". Source Fingers crossed! [img]graemlins/thumbs.gif[/img] [ July 14, 2005, 04:41 AM: Message edited by: Keri ] |

Arnold's term isn't up as Governor for another year and a half, and he'll be running for re-election for another 4 year term. Considering how much political heat Arnie's taking right now with the teacher's union putting ads on every 10 seconds calling him every name imaginable, I can't see him taking off a few months as Governor to film a movie. He'd be roasted alive and wouldn't have any chance at re-election. They're going to have to do it without Arnold. [ July 14, 2005, 05:16 AM: Message edited by: Faith_Fan ] |

So that's at least 1 1/2 years away, or at the most 5 1/2 years. But then you don't know what Arnold's plans are post-Governor. Will he go back into acting, or pursue a higher political office? Or will he have pissed off all the liberals in Hollywood so much that he'll never work again? That article suggests the script has been re-written, which is good since in the old True Lies 2 script, Dana was not in it. I'd love to see them just write out Arnold's character and have it star Eliza and Jamie. But... The sans-Arnold T4 keeps getting pushed back and back and could end up being straight to DVD, so it looks like Arnold would need to be involved with TL2 to get a greenlight. James Cameron has a good reputation in directing great films. It would be nice to see Jamie Lee and Eliza working together again, isnt Jamie Lee, Eliza favourite actress? |

I would love to see a True Lies 2 based on Jamie and Eliza, but I don't know how well the general public would react to that. They might just write it off as some lame sequel that couldn't get its big star back. I think it'd be far better without Arnold, but once again, the studios have to think of what would be most popular among the masses, since an action film kinda needs to make a lot of money thanks to production costs and all that. I don't think anyone would want Eliza to have to carry a True Lies 2 all by herself and have it end up completely flopping at the box office because people wouldn't even give it a chance. |

| If Eliza came out against Arnold's election bid so heavily, why would she want to work with him again? I can see him putting aside her rhetoric, maybe, but if she's as fired up against him as she sounds wouldn't she say no? Maybe money will talk as usual and override that? |

| Junior Member ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Part of the reason this is bothering me is that I'm a supporter of Gov. Schwarzenegger, and I'd honestly rather have him get re-elected than Eliza get to do True Lies 2. The future of the state of California is far more important than a movie. Arnold even doing a cameo in TL2 while campaigning for re-election would probably tank his numbers even farther. John & Ken on KFI (the most listened to talk radio show in the country) would rip Arnold to shreds if he did TL2. Without Arnold, there is a very low chance it would happen, realistically. James Cameron can't bring in budgets under $150 Million for a movie. Keeping under $200 Million would probably be hard for him now considering inflation. I can't see Fox greenlighting a $150M - $200M movie starring Jamie, Eliza, Tom Arnold and Bill Paxton and no Arnold. It's been 9 years of Tom Arnold ever chance he gets pimping True Lies 2, which is the only chance he has at ever getting a decent role again. There has got to have been 100 threads now on Fanhost with a quote from Tom talking about the movie happening and then nothing actually happens. TL2 was suppose to have come out in 2003. | Junior Member ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | At this point with the Faith spinoff, the problem isn't whether or not Eliza and Joss both want to do it, the problem is whether or not any network wants it. Both of them probably are willing to do it now, but it's doubtful any network wants a Buffy spinoff. UPN doesn't. WB doesn't. Fox doesn't. There aren't any networks left. Doing a high profile movie like TL2 would probably help the Faith spinoff's chances, convincing networks that Eliza is capable of headlining her own show. If TL2 is directed by Cameron, it will take 9+ months to film, so Eliza couldn't take any tv series while she was doing that. [ July 14, 2005, 11:23 AM: Message edited by: Faith_Fan ] |

We all know Eliza is a liberal but she's never pushed her own political agenda, even when she was campaigning for Rock the Vote. Anyway, be it 2007, 2012 or whenever, any True Lies action is exciting to me. If we ever get to see it, it could potentially be the biggest role of Eliza's career. Bigger than Faith. | |

It would be nice to see a TL2 with a bigger role for Eliza, in that she's more action orientated. But it's only another rumour in a long list of ones related to this subject. So for now, I'm not getting excited about this, until something more concrete comes along. |

| Senior Member ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Found this article at Trufan-Eliza, it's from a few months back but it's new to me... Tuesday, May 17, 2005: Cameron Ready for True Lies 2? Will TL2 be Arnold's big Comeback? According to Variety.com, James Cameron's sequel to "True Lies" is NOT dead! So which True Lies preacher would be more happy to hear this news: Tom Arnold or ABKing? Cameron - who is currently filming Battle Angel - has plans to direct True Lies 2 after Arnold finishes his term as Governor of California. True Lies 2 will be under his Lightstorm Entertainment and reimagine it more as 'a James Bond type film and not a pre terrorist action film', which after the events of September 11, Cameron decided he definitely didn't want to make. Cameron is hoping that the full cast from the first film would return for the sequel. Arnold Schwarzenegger has already expressed interest apparently. There's no start date for the film as of yet. |
