Default News thread.

If you have any Christina releated news, film or otherwise, just post it up here!

I'll start with something serious, Christina has been selected to be part of a national campaign to bring attention to rape crisis programmes across the United States.

Quote:
ALBANY - Christina Ricci, star of such blockbuster movies as "The Addams Family," will be part of a national campaign that local officials hope will bring attention to rape crisis programs across the country and here in the Capital District.
Leaders from the Albany County Crime Victims and Sexual Violence Center announced they would be taking part in the Rape, Abuse, Incest National Network's effort to bring attention to such a painful subject.

Default Samsonite news!

Cool! I got this from my freind Frank:

Quote:
According to The Daily:

The collection, a throwback to the company?s popular travel collections from the 1960s, has been reissued for 2007 with modern materials and functionality, and updated for the busy traveler to include carry-on?s and spinners.

Ricci, who will host a launch party for the collection in Manhattan on March 29, will be doing a round of press to help promote it. According to a company spokeswoman, no campaign is currently being planned for this collection, though Cameron Silver, another co-host of the event, did consult on the line.
Though she's not modelling for them, which is annoying in a way.

Christina Ricci Signs Luggage Deal
Christina Ricci has signed a deal to become the new face of luggage brand Samsonite.

Christina Ricci, 27, will star in an advertising campaign for Samsonite's Black Label line, shot by photographer KT Auleta.

Christina Ricci will become the face of new Fashionaire line under the Samsonite Black Label brand.

Black Label line by Samsonite was designed in collaboration with Cameron Silver, owner of Los Angeles-based vintage retailer Decades, who acts as a consultant, and Samsonite creative director Quentin Mackay.

One of recent Samsonite faces is actress Isabella Rossellini, former face of Lancome, who starred in a campaign alongside her model daughter.

Christina Ricci has previously starred in advertising campaigns for Louis Vuitton and Reebok.

Also this about the party:

Quote:
By Sophia Chabbott and Caroline Tell
Christina Ricci has a passion for vintage. “I view fashion as art,” said the pint-sized actress, who co-hosted the launch party for Samsonite’s Fashionaire collection at the Gramercy Park Hotel on Thursday night. “Wearing Madame Gres is like wearing a museum piece.”

Putting her money where her mouth is, Ricci accessorized her Sophia Kokosalaki cocktail dress with vintage Jean Schlumberger designed Tiffany & Co. bracelets. Ricci brought on her own creative team to her shoot, as she is the star in the company’s global relations campaign for the vintage inspired line.

Christina Ricci gets 'Narnia' inspired tattoo
Tuesday Apr 3 05:00 AEST

By ninemsn staff

Actress Christina Ricci has revealed the origin of a fearsome lion tattoo on her back.

"It's Aslan, the lion God of Narnia, from The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe," she told the New York Daily News.

Ricci, who is now the face of Samsonite Black Label's new Fashionaire luggage collection, was talking to media at a party when asked about the frightening ink.

"It was a symbol of my hellish childhood," she said.

"I struggled through my oppressive teenage years, and when I turned 18, I escaped. Like Aslan, I was finally free."

When asked what happened in her childhood, Ricci bluntly responded: "That's not party talk."

The 27-year-old began her career as a child actress, and became famous through her role as the dark Wednesday Addams in the blockbuster flick The Addams Family.

Christina Ricci Would Take Green Croc Manolos to an Unknown Destination
Jeannette Park
March 30th, 2007 @ 2:09 PM - New York

It's with shame that we admit we do the celebrity brush-and-touch every now and then. Though verging on pleaseleavemealoneyou'reinmypersonalspace, it hasn't stopped us yet. So imagine our delight when one of our own was stuck in a revolving door with Marisa Tomei at the Grammercy Park Hotel Thursday night. Ok, we weren't stuck, per se, but we were able to get close enough behind her to touch the hem of the long black frock she donned to celebrate Christina Ricci and the launch of Samsonite's new Fashionaire line under the Black Label.

We don't really get the connection between Christina Ricci and Samsonite (Does she looooovvveee to travel a lot? Is luggage design her calling?), but nevertheless the luggage label chose Ricci as the face of their new line co-designed by Samsonite creative director Quentin MacKay and Decades owner Cameron Silver, who had a pretty good Blue Steel look for the cameras. At Thursday's launch, the diminutive Ricci - donning a Sophia Kokosalaki mini dress - mugged in front of the collection that includes carry-ons, makeup cases, tote bags, wallets, and even umbrellas, designed in a black and white floral print. It's cute in that let's-jet-set-off-to-Corsica-for-the-weekend, but the stylized Marimekko print would probably look silly on business class to Milan.

With the two designers constantly by Christina's side, it was nearly impossible to do the brush-and-touch, but we did sneak in a question.

"Christina, if you had to leave tonight on a plane to an unknown destination and could only take five things with you, what would you take?"

"Hmm…Ok. I know," replied Ricci. "Jeans, my green crocodile Manolo Blahniks, a white bikini, my Calvin Klein cashmere sweater, and my entire collection of American Apparel tanks."

All good answers. But having an unhealthy obsession with the movie "200 Cigarettes," we secretly wanted to scream: "Val!!! You said we weren't going to go past Avenue B!"

Oh, and don't think we didn't touch her arm as she walked away.

Oh really interesting about her tattoo being Aslan - thanks for the info, I had no idea about that at all. I used to love the Narnia books/tv when I was younger.

One for Uk fans mainly, Chritina's interviewed in the latest issue of Total Film magazine. It's the one with Spider-man on the front. It's just after a Star Wars tribute.

Forgot to add, it uses a few of the Italian Vague pics from this year in it's interview along with a few other BSM pics. Also rates some of her films too, and will review BSM in the next issue.

Default New Film!

It's Speed Racer!

Christina Ricci Scores Date With Speed
Christina Ricci is joining Matrix creators adaptation of the 1960s cartoon Speed Racer.
Reuters

Christina Ricci is joining "Matrix" creators Larry and Andy Wachowski's live-action adaptation of the 1960s cartoon "Speed Racer."

Emile Hirsch, Susan Sarandon and John Goodman already have boarded the high-octane Warner Bros. project, which is based on the anime series created by Tatsuo Yoshida for Japanese audiences and later imported to the U.S.

"Speed" centers on a young race car driver, Speed (Hirsch), and his quest for glory in his thundering, gadget-laden vehicle Mach 5. Ricci will star as Speed's girlfriend Trixie, his formidable ally on and off the track.

The show revolved around Speed's family. In the big-screen adaptation, Goodman will play Pops, a race car owner and builder. Sarandon is on board as Pops' wife, the backbone of the family as well as the Mach 5 Go Racing Team.

The Wachowskis, who are writing and directing, are eyeing a summer shoot in Berlin with a summer 2008 release.

The casting is a change in direction for Ricci, who has tended to star in such indie-oriented fare as "Monster," "Penelope" and the recent "Black Snake Moan." She also appeared on ABC's "Grey's Anatomy," a turn that earned her an Emmy nomination last year.
