Actress Christina Ricci has revealed the origin of a fearsome lion tattoo on her back.
"It's Aslan, the lion God of Narnia, from The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe," she told the New York Daily News.
Ricci, who is now the face of Samsonite Black Label's new Fashionaire luggage collection, was talking to media at a party when asked about the frightening ink.
"It was a symbol of my hellish childhood," she said.
"I struggled through my oppressive teenage years, and when I turned 18, I escaped. Like Aslan, I was finally free."
When asked what happened in her childhood, Ricci bluntly responded: "That's not party talk."
The 27-year-old began her career as a child actress, and became famous through her role as the dark Wednesday Addams in the blockbuster flick The Addams Family.

Christina Ricci Would Take Green Croc Manolos to an Unknown Destination
Jeannette Park
March 30th, 2007 @ 2:09 PM - New York
It's with shame that we admit we do the celebrity brush-and-touch every now and then. Though verging on pleaseleavemealoneyou'reinmypersonalspace, it hasn't stopped us yet. So imagine our delight when one of our own was stuck in a revolving door with Marisa Tomei at the Grammercy Park Hotel Thursday night. Ok, we weren't stuck, per se, but we were able to get close enough behind her to touch the hem of the long black frock she donned to celebrate Christina Ricci and the launch of Samsonite's new Fashionaire line under the Black Label.
We don't really get the connection between Christina Ricci and Samsonite (Does she looooovvveee to travel a lot? Is luggage design her calling?), but nevertheless the luggage label chose Ricci as the face of their new line co-designed by Samsonite creative director Quentin MacKay and Decades owner Cameron Silver, who had a pretty good Blue Steel look for the cameras. At Thursday's launch, the diminutive Ricci - donning a Sophia Kokosalaki mini dress - mugged in front of the collection that includes carry-ons, makeup cases, tote bags, wallets, and even umbrellas, designed in a black and white floral print. It's cute in that let's-jet-set-off-to-Corsica-for-the-weekend, but the stylized Marimekko print would probably look silly on business class to Milan.
With the two designers constantly by Christina's side, it was nearly impossible to do the brush-and-touch, but we did sneak in a question.
"Christina, if you had to leave tonight on a plane to an unknown destination and could only take five things with you, what would you take?"
"Hmm…Ok. I know," replied Ricci. "Jeans, my green crocodile Manolo Blahniks, a white bikini, my Calvin Klein cashmere sweater, and my entire collection of American Apparel tanks."
All good answers. But having an unhealthy obsession with the movie "200 Cigarettes," we secretly wanted to scream: "Val!!! You said we weren't going to go past Avenue B!"
Oh, and don't think we didn't touch her arm as she walked away.
