| Junior Member ![]() ![]() ![]() | This is not the first time she has said this so maybe she is just caught up in the moment. Still, I wonder if she is looking more and more into the fashion business or maybe thinking about taking a stab at stage work.Lot's of movie stars live in NYC and I wonder if she will keep a house or apartment in LA as well as living in NYC.Until she gives us more we will have to just speculate. |

| Junior Member ![]() ![]() ![]() | She's in NYC and according to her Twitter, she has found the perfect condo! However, she also tweeted that she WAS moving to NYC and changed her mind several times, including removing all her tweets about it. She said as much as she wanted to move to NYC she just didn't think she could make the move away from LA.It appears she came back to NYC after spending about a week here last month for fashion week and the MTV awards just to look at places to live. So, is she or isn't she? Is this a good career move? I mean, a lot of movie stars live in NYC and I am sure she could find work. I just wonder what her intentions are and if she is all talk or actually serious. The girl changes her mind more than anyone I know! |

I've always dreamed of living in Manhattan and it would afford her so many new connections and potential projects. Maybe she could get a part in Woody Allen's next film! That would be a perfect fit for her type of sardonic comedy. Or better yet, a Scorsese picture! It would be so much fun seeing her beat somebody to death with a baseball bat in one of Marty's pictures! LOL! |

| Junior Member ![]() ![]() ![]() | Timothy, this is Amanda we are talking about! She is a lady! She would beat someone to death with a $400 pair of Manolo Blahnik stilettos,ya know with some class. Gangsters beat people to death with baseball bats. Ladies do it with expensive shoes(hurts more) LOL! There are pros and cons living in NYC. I find people who are use to LA,especially their entire life living there have a difficult time with the 4 seasons, most of all the winters. She could do television in NYC like an HBO series or 30 Rock or even SNL. She could do theater and do films like she could in LA. Problem I have is she keeps changing her mind. I have checked out various tweets of hers from a day or two ago and find that she removes most her tweets, even the ones that are silly and have nothing to do with anything.I've been to Paris twice with my boyfriend and each time I am there I always dream about moving there. Of course, I don;t mean it 100% but still,I wonder if Amanda does the same with NYC.Guess what I am trying to say is I am not sure if she is serious about the move or not.I don't think she makes the kind of money where she can afford homes in LA and NYC. Time will tell. |

And I made the statement that Amanda was a young girl trapped in a woman's body and Christina was a woman trapped in a young girl's body! What do you think about that? I would dream of Amanda having the career that Christina has had up until this point. But I'm beginning to wonder if Amanda even has the maturity level to sustain a Hollywood career! I was honestly incredibly disappointed about Easy A and I'm wondering if I even want to see it. I think that her parents continue to baby her to this day and, like many young stars, she has never had the chance to grow up and become an adult. And we are talking about a woman in her mid-twenties here! What in the hell is going on? By the way, I loved your comment about the shoes. Very, very funny! And I hope you fulfill your dream of moving to the City of Lights one day. |

| Junior Member ![]() ![]() ![]() | Well, My boyfriend use to live in NYC and we know so many people (family and friends) who live there it would be a very easy move. I'm feeling like you may be right about Amanda. Like I have said before, for women in Hollywood Amanda has some tough competition. Hollywood seems to like very young women, probably because they can attract a bigger audience. Amanda will be 24 next year and she has not done very much over the past 2 years. I can't believe she has not been offered anything good either. I bet a lot of films that have been released since 2007 were offered to Amanda or she could have been in the films if she were a bit more aggressive. How many films have you seen where you have said, "WOW! Amanda would be great in that?" I can say off the top of my head 'Rachel Getting Married', 'Enchanted', and 'Bride Wars' just to name a few. I always liked Christina Ricci, but just sort of lost track of her career. My boyfriend loves Mila Kunis, and again I look at films like 'Forgetting Sarah Marshall' and 'Extracted' and think Amanda would be great in them. Seems like Amanda thinks she still has the same audience she had back when she did WILAY and that she is trying to appeal to the Disney Channel crowd. She finished her film EASY A back in June. So, the way it's beginning to look that will be her ONLY film in 2010 and from what I hear she is playing a supporting role. So, what's she waiting for? She has one film for Screen Gems that I thought would be catered for her. I am beginning to think Amanda will end up making a career doing Hallmark made for TV movies or she will get out of acting and focus on a fashion career.Hope I am wrong, but she is really disappointing me these days and I can tell by the lack of interest in her on the forums that she is losing her fan base BIG TIME! I will continue to support Amanda no matter what she decides to do, but I feared in my heart that the day would come when there would only be two or three posters here on the Amanda boards. It looks like that day has arrived. Thank you so much for continuing to post here because it would be dead without you. Where is Richy, Renee and P? After taking a break for a month or two because of computer issues, I was hoping that I would come back and there would be tons of activity and great pics here. Such a shame. As I said, I will continue to post here as long as there is SOMEONE as wonderful as you to talk to, but I am terrified that the end of Amanda's movie career is at hand. As you said, it looks like she refuses to leave the Nick/Disney crowd behind and this new generation of kids won't even know who she is. Same thing happened to Melissa Joan Hart, another actress that I adore, and she was forced to do made-for-tv films. Then again, when another great comic actress that I admire, Shelley Long, began to lose popularity, she was forced to do tv movies as well. It pains me to say this, but this is a very sad time to be a longtime Amanda fan. |

| Junior Member ![]() ![]() ![]() | It's pretty sad Tim. I use to check her Twitter several times a day when I was online and check the forums here as well. Now, I pretty much check it once maybe twice a day. All she does on Twitter is quote other people and occasionally lets us know what she is up to. However, I notice she is moody. Cheery according to one tweet and almost depressed with another. She also loves to delete tweets, which leads me to believe she tweets before thinking about what she is saying. I go to other message boards and it's all the same. No one is talking about her.Saw some of my cousins this weekend. Their ages range from 15-22. We got talking and I asked what they thought of Amanda Bynes. One said they loved her............when they were 10! None even remembered she was in HAIRSPRAY and none of them had even heard of SYDNEY WHITE. They all are into other movie stars now. Amanda's time for them has come and gone.Even with EASY A coming out in a few months, no one really cares. We could blame Amanda's agent for her lack of work, but she got a new agent this year. He probably got her the show Canned and EASY A and I would guess her agent is just as frustrated as we are.She tweeted last week that she had a pile of scripts to read. Great! Will she accept any of them though? I am certain she has been offered parts but for whatever reason she is turning roles down. I am more and more convinced that Amanda will end up doing guest roles on CSI and made for USA,Sci Fi or Hallmark channel movies.I can even see her doing commercials for M&M's or Campbell soup. Many young people have forgotten her and are now into the stars of Twilight and movies like that(this is who she is competing with) I loved Alicia Silverstone and am sad to see how her career has gone down hill. I think she is beautiful and talented but heard she became very picky on film roles. Look at Julia Roberts. Look at Meg Ryan.Look at Drew Barrymore and Cameron Diaz. Claire Daines. So Many actresses out there with no decent parts written for women. Amanda I fear will end up doing terrible films just to find work.Looking at various message boards, no one is posting about her nor do they seem to care. The ones that are talking about her are talking about how she has ruined her career. I was sad seeing her out at all these clubs but felt that this was where all the deals are being made nowadays and that she was networking. I think I may have been wrong about that. I look at actresses like Mila Kunis or Amber Heard or Zoe Salanda or Kristin Bell and think Amanda should be doing parts they are doing.Amber Heard is the exact same age as Amanda and has a diverse resume of films. She is pretty, she can act, and is in high demand. These are the up and coming actresses people are recognizing. Amanda can not do happy family roles forever where she plays the high school girl.I have really become a fan of Anne Hathaway. I like her films, I think she is a great actress and she works steadily. Even though she is a little older, I also admire Kate Winslet(I still think Amanda would have been great in her role in THE HOLIDAY) So,I think I may end up taking a break from Amanda. She will start promoting her film that comes out in March around the first of the year. I doubt much will be going on til then unless she announces a new film. Even looking at new pictures of her are not the same anymore. She is turning into one of these actresses who we will start asking,'Why is she even famous?' I think the lack of interest and the fact no one here is posting is all because of Amanda. How can you just expect to have fans and not work for them? Sorry Amanda, their are too many other actresses out there who want what you got more than you do and are willing to work hard for it.When you get your career back on track,I and I am certain many other will hop on board. For now, I'll check the message bards once a day for a while. ![]() Last edited by cdc792000; 10-19-2009 at 04:15 PM.. |

![]() Candace, you pretty much summed up my feelings as well. You mentioned in another post, in another thread, that Amanda acted more mature 5 years ago than she does now. I think that's a pretty accurate assessment. Amanda DID seem more mature and adult when she was in her teens and is behaving more like a teen now that she has reached adulthood. Doesn't it seem like Amanda's career started to nose dive about the time that she permanently moved out of her parents home? It makes me suspect that Amanda's parents, her father in particular, were the driving force behind her career and, perhaps, even her success up until now. Since she moved out of her parents home she has appeared to be unmotivated, rudderless and simply not interested in working at all. The one good thing about Amanda using Twitter is that we can get some insight into what is interesting to her at the moment and quite frankly, if she was interested in pursuing her film career (or any other career for that matter) I would think that she would have tweeted about this significantly more than she has. Tim asked this in another post: Quote:
Simply put, Amanda just doesn't seem to want to work! She seems more interested in screwing off and in the process, is SCREWING UP HER CAREER! There is one thing that Amanda does appear to enjoy and that is being a celebrity. She hardly passes up a chance to attend "Red Carpet" events and within her little circle of friends, she is the "queen bee" of the group due to this celebrity. She seems to do just enough to maintain that celebrity status like doing an occasional movie or photoshoot. I know this seems to be a rather harsh assessment but most of her behavior seems to point in this direction. If this assessment is correct then I hope that either her parents or some other responsible person is able to straighten her out and get her back on track. I seriously doubt that, given her present state of mind, Amanda could survive in the harsh acting environment that has traditionally existed in NY. The NY theater is hardly a place for someone to is unwilling to devote their total energy to hard work and the same holds true for the NY Fashion Design scene as well. Hopefully Amanda will return to some semblance of a more mature behavior but, as I said before, I think it going to take her family to get involved and straighten her out before her career is irreparably damaged. * Last edited by Grate Oz; 10-20-2009 at 02:45 AM.. | ||

| Junior Member ![]() ![]() ![]() | Amanda tweeted last night that she wants to get married SOON and settle down. Call me old fashion, but I think finding someone should come first.(LOL) I think Oz and Timothy are right on. Very logical observations.I can not think of anything else to say. Who tweets that they want to get married soon when they are single? Considering it was last Christmas in the issue of Cosmo where she said she did not think much about marriage. I think her views on the subject will change a dozen more times before lunch. I love Amanda but I think it's obvious she has some growing up to do,which really doesn't make that much sense to me. I felt she was wise beyond her years 3 or 4 years ago. As for her career,I think it's suffering and I wonder if she is in denial over that.Could it be she surrounds herself with no one but 'yes people'? Another I'll point out is her friendship with Perez Hilton. The two obviously are very close.I sometimes read his blog but my overall impression of him is that he is not a nice guy. He is judgmental, often reports on gossip and NOT the facts, he draws immature drawings on people's picture on his blog, and I do not think I have ever seen him apologize or retract a story he has got wrong before. Why would Amanda be friends with someone who says such hurtful things to people? The guy posted a picture of Adam Sandler's daughter calling her the ugliest celebrity baby in Hollywood. NOT COOL! To go after a child Perez? Really? Amanda, why are you hanging out with this jerk? So, I think it's important to note the company Amanda keeps. Is she friend with any adults? Any close friends older than 30,besides Leslie G.? I'm coming here less and less and am sad to see others just have lost interest in her. Looks as if EASY A is the only film she shot in 2009. Looking at other actresses, they have their next 2 or 3 films lined up.Meagan Fox,Amber Heard, Amanda Seyfried all have the next 2 or 3 films listed as either in production or post production listed on their IMDB page. Amanda should have had another film lined up after EASY A wrapped in June. I think at this point she will have to literally start over as far as her career goes. Even Linsday Lohan is finding some work. Come on Amanda!!! |

And, Oz, I have been reading all of your posts and they are very smart and observant, and the reason I didn't mention you is because you still steadily post here. But it looks like, other than us three and Pranks, everyone else has pretty much moved on. It makes me wonder about my sanity and judgement that I am actually wasting so much valuable time complaining about Amanda and the sad state of her career. I was actually hoping that she would become a fashion maven so that she would have a steady income just in case her career went South. Just like the insufferably annoying Alyssa Milano, when an actor or actress seems to be spending an inordinate amount of time posting on Twitter, something is amiss. I like most of the young actresses that Candace mentioned, and Anne Hathaway is a good choice. I just always thought that Amanda had that extra something special that other performers her age don't have. But Oz was spot on in saying that she is just not motivated to work. She had her career practically handed to her at a young age on All That and The Amanda Show. And I always felt like she really worked hard to grow as a performer. How long will it be before we have to sit through She's The Man 2? Someone needs to kick her square in the ass. When the money starts to dry up, she'll be the next Dana Plato ( and, just so you know, I always adored Dana and was sickened and heartroken by what happened to her life). Even Lindsay Lohan got a prime part in what looks to be a very cool movie, Robert Rodriguez's Machete. And Candace mentioned the adorable Amber Heard and she has the lead role in my favorite director's long-awaited new film (John Carpenter). Hell, I'd settle for Amanda becoming a scream queen and starring in cheesy Scy Fy horror movies at this point, just to see her work. I had such a crush on her when she did that MTV reality show (what was the name of that?) and she was so hammy and funny and charming. Now she seems to be just another perpetual adolescent crying about wanting a boyfriend and soaking in all of the outlandish compliments that people are pouring on her on Twitter. When you start reposting your compliments ( I think they call it re-tweet or RT), then there is a major problem. |

Amanda seems to have completely lost her sense of humor. I always felt that she was the most talented comic actress in her age group that I have ever seen, but she has not made me laugh even one time since she has been posting on Twitter. This concerns me even more because, even when she did that MTV Reality Show a few years back, she had me rolling in the floor she was so funny. Granted, there were cameras on her, but even when Robin Williams is doing one of his deadly serious roles, I've always heard that he was hysterical behind the camera. Can someone please explain to me where our "cute, funny girl" has gone? |

| Junior Member ![]() ![]() ![]() | I'm with you Timothy! My boyfriend one night read her Twitter page and said guys freak out when girls start wishing for boyfriends and talk about marriage while still single. I get annoyed with her Twitter page. 99% of her tweets are quotes. I'm like,ENOUGH ALREADY WITH THE QUOTE BOOK! The other times I will read something and it will be gone an hour later. If I had no idea who she was I would guess it was a 13 or 14 year on Twitter.Like I have said,I have gone to other forums and no one is talking about her and those who do are saying her career is over. Saw Zombieland the other night and loved it. I am beginning to think AMber Heard,Anne Hathaway, and Emma Stone are taking Amanda's place. Anne Hathaway's page has 4 films in development,2 in post production and one filming.Amanda's page should be very similar to that. Now EASY A has been pushed back September 2010 which means nothing new from Amanda until late next year. 2008 she did very little. Nothing in 2009 and now most of 2010 will slip by before anything new. Only thing I am sure we will see is Amanda at events having her picture taken. I wonder Amanda will feel when she is out shopping or running errands one day and she notices no one following her or taking pictures. Wonder how she will feel when she is at an event and photographers stop snapping pics of her and head over to Meagan Fox and Emma Stone because they are actually actresses who are working. Will she take to her twitter account and start tweeting quotes about how life is not fair?Seriously. Amanda will decide to get her act together when she is in her late 20's and people start asking,'Whatever happened to Amanda Bynes?" |

| Junior Member ![]() ![]() | So Tim and Candace, it's funny (not in a haha sort of way) but I pretty much posted many of the same things in the "EASY A Now Coming Out September 2010" thread that you guys posted here and THAT was BEFORE I even read your posts here. We all are obviously noticing and thinking the same things about Amanda. As you guys have mentioned, she has been interacting more with her fans than she ever has in the past. Normally I would feel that this was a good thing but unfortunately she just seems to be reacting to having her ego stroked and not really responding to any truly serious questions or comments. Also, have you guys noticed that Amanda hasn't tweeted to or about any of her "inner circle" of friends (for lack of a better expression, the "Bynes Brat Pack")? I wonder if there has been some kind falling out among them? I fear that our cute, funny and intelligent Amanda is morphing into some kind of strangely bizarre, self-absorbed Hollywood celebrity clone of Paris Hilton or Lindsey Lohan (or a combination thereof)! THE HORROR! Almost like Invasion of the Body Snatchers! ![]() * Last edited by Grate Oz; 10-25-2009 at 05:44 AM.. |

| Junior Member ![]() ![]() ![]() | I agree Oz. I think we are all thinking the exact same thing. If so, that tells me those friends and close to Amanda must see it more than we do. Perhaps that is why she is not talking to them. AT this point, not to sound to negative, I do not see how she can continue on. I think she wasted too much time. In 2007 right after HAIRSPRAY and her DEER line, she should have found PLENTY of work. Instead, this is when she decides to take a long break. Not counting her small part in the Lifetime movie she made a year ago, she has not been in a feature film since 2007 SYDNEY WHITE.Her next film comes out in September 2010. 3 years after SYDNEY WHITE.Only an established actress can do that. Amanda has way too much competition at this point. I think she will literally have to start over. Smaller parts, less pay,and she will have to co star with much younger less experienced talent, which if she has an ego will not go over very well.I think someone needs to tweet Amanda and tell her to check out the forum here. She NEEDS to hear some of this. Last edited by cdc792000; 10-25-2009 at 10:00 AM.. |

Does this person she hired just sit on their ass, stroke her ego and spend her money? She really needs someone in her life with the balls to tell her to get off of her lazy ass and get motivated! Hell, even Lindsay Lohan still has straight-to-DVD films coming out. There is still an audience for Amanda, obviously, and my feeling is- if the insufferable Jessica Simpson can get movie roles, then surely Amanda can. With the DVD and Blu-Ray market, you can have new product out in stores and video stores and not have to worry so much about big studio support and backing. I really felt like she should have started her own production company at least two years ago so she could generate good roles for herself. Oz, how long has it been since we heard about that two-picture deal? And now Easy A is done, the release has been pushed way back (which never bodes well for a film) and there is nothing new in the pipeline. She said that she is reading scripts, right? Oz and Candace, you hit the nail right on the head when you said that she can't afford to be so picky anymore. But, the damage is done and I honestly believe that her chance at real stardom has passed. Who knows? Maybe she will find that boyfriend that she has been whining about, settle down and have kids and quit the business entirely. That might actually be her best bet at this point. |

As you both know, I have been a rabid Amanda fan since I first saw her in All That so many years ago. I felt then, and still feel to an extent, that she is the most naturally gifted performer to come along since Jodie Foster. Noone else, save for Bette Midler, Robin Williams and John Cleese, has made me laugh as hard or as often as she has. But her staunch refusal to grow up has damaged her career almost beyond repair. Even Jim Carrey forced himself to stretch beyond his buffoonish persona and tackle more susbtantial roles. Obviously, they don't do as well at the BO but at least he is trying. Can you imagine Amanda even attempting a role as powerful, moving and dangerous as Charlize Theron did in Monster? Amanda seems obsessed with her own beauty, staunchly refuses to explore her sexuality and seems to be afraid of the dark shadows in her soul. Until she starts to move beyond the insulated bubble of her own fame, she will never grow up and she will become just another Hollywood statistic. I should have seen this coming when she first started going out and clubbing all the time. But I figured she was just a young woman trying to have some fun. Maybe she should start hanging out with Paris Hilton and they can star in a female rehash of Dumb and Dumber! I'm sorry to sound so mean but I am just sick and fed up. They say that young people are corrupted by their access to tons of money, and Amanda appears to be the perfect example of that. Last edited by Timothywalker; 10-25-2009 at 05:32 PM.. |
