The thesp will first co-star in the Will Gluck-directed comedy "Easy A," and she and Screen Gems president Clint Culpepper will then craft a star vehicle for her second project. Culpepper said that Bynes, who gained fame as star of Nickelodeon's "The Amanda Show," has been on his radar for some time. "She's one of the few who can make that graceful transition from kid to adult star because she has such strong comic chops," Culpepper said. Scripted by playwright Bert V. Royal, "Easy A" stars Emma Stone as a high school student who is victimized by a false rumor that she lost her virginity, until she exploits the rumor mill for her own benefit and becomes wildly popular. Bynes has signed on to play a puritanical high school queen bee. Zanne Devine and Gluck are producing." Finally someone recognize Amanda's talents. I feel so giddy right now, I feel like I want to jump on my bed all night long. Her first project, Easy A sounds very interesting. I can't wait to hear the details for her second pic. I hope the projects will move fast. I just did a little research on Easy A. It is suppose to be "A Scarlett Letter" but in high school. Amanda sure does love those modern retelling films. It is a great one week early birthday present. Also a plus, my relatives from Europe, Louisiana, and Texas are coming over soon for a big family reunion/birthday party. Have a great summer everyone! I enjoying my several weeks break until I take two summer courses. |

| Junior Member ![]() ![]() ![]() | Happy Birthday in Advance Pranks! I wonder when she starts filming. IMDB still has her attached to FOOTLOOSE and it says this film comes out in 2010, so we still have to wait a ways to see her in a new film. However, I am glad she held out for something more original. I only wish she was not playing a high schooler. Thought she was moving forward. Still, her playing a puritanical high school queen bee could be good. I have always wanted to see Amanda play a b*tch and if the part is well written in addition to Amanda's comedic timing, it could be a good part for her. Now when I say that, I don’t necessarily mean I love her movies (though I did enjoy “Sydney White” – that was fun; the rest, not so much), I just really like the girl. She’s always a pleasure to interview – one of the sweetest, most down-to-earth youngsters I’ve ever put a Dictaphone in front of – and seems genuinely happy to chat. Can't say that about many newly-breasted teen moppets. In Bynes case though, there's not a bad word to be said. And I do think there's potential there too - - she's a very funny girl; just needs the right vehicle. And it seems I’m not the only Clint that loves Bynes. Screen Gems has had the smarts to sign the pretty little moppet up for two pics." The Footloose film is still a rumor but I hope Amanda gets the role of Ariel. Maybe this piece of news will get the people behind Footloose to re-evaluate what they could be missing out if they don't cast Amanda. Thank you Candace for the birthday wishes. |

| Junior Member ![]() ![]() | This is hardly the next project that I hoped Amanda would be offered or end up doing. About the only good thing about this, that I see, is that Amanda is finally going back to work. While I'm glad that Pranks and others are thrilled about this, personally I'm DAMN disappointed! When Amanda was cast in "Canned" everyone was upset that she was in an ensemble cast and wasn't the lead character. Now she is being cast in a SUPPORTING role as a TEENAGER! At least in "Canned" she would have been an ADULT! Yeah, she's going to be in a movie but by the time it's released in 2010 Amanda will be 24 years old. To most of the movie going public Amanda will be seen as nothing more than an actress capable of of doing only teenage roles because that is all they have ever seen her in. A 24 year old teenager! I guess this reflects just how badly her career has been damaged. At least in "Sydney White" and "Living Proof" she was playing a college student and not a High School kid. Now she's back in High School! This is hardly the kind of role that I expected Amanda would be doing by now. I expected Amanda would be doing ADULT roles! I don't know who to be more angry at. Amanda's so called fans who failed to support her particularly by not going to see "Sydney White" thus making it a box office disappointment and ruining the career momentum that she had from "Hairspray", Amanda's stupid ass agents and reps who can't bring her anything better than this mindless teenage drivel, or Amanda herself, for taking extended time off at her career peak and then allowing her agents to present her with nothing but crap when they are being paid to advance and grow her career. I'm sure that Amanda is more than aware of the mistakes she has made with her career so right now I'm really only pissed at Amanda's agents and her past non supportive fans. Yes, this IS a movie role and it IS work but it is only a teenage role and not an adult role, a supporting role and not a starring role and we won't be able to see it or know if it will be successful until 2010. Not exactly a career advancement! Since this seems to be the best project that she has been offered then I guess I'll just have to settle, for now, with Amanda simply returning back to work and do my best to support her. Hopefully her next project for Screen Gems will have her doing an ADULT role but if it doesn't I just may do what Pranks has been threatening for some time to do and cease being an avid fan! I have no interest in watching another tween/teen movie in which a grown adult woman like Amanda pretends to be a kid. Especially when she's capable of so very much more! * Last edited by Grate Oz; 06-03-2009 at 03:46 AM.. |

| Richy ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Ah thats awesome! I'm really happy with the news. She really does like these modern re-tellings doesn't she! Let's hope she has a large role in the film, almost as good as being a lead actress. Also don't forget it's a two film deal so look forward to news about the second movie which may be even better Thanks for the news pranks, great great find. |

I knew that our patience and undying support would pay off. Finally, everyone can stop complaining about no new projects! I agree with Candace...it's going to be a lot of fun seeing her playing a bi#@h for the first time. She is more than qualified! Will Gluck directed Fired Up which didn't do well at the box office but he was a writer/producer on "Andy Richter Controls the Universe." While I didn't see that show, I know from way back how funny Andy and Conan are. So Easy A has real potential in my book. Having not seen Superbad, I was not familiar with Emma Stone, the lead actress, either but she seems to be an up-and-coming star. This seems like the type of film in which Amanda will steal the whole show. The jury is still out on Endeavor, but at least this is a step in the right direction. As I have said many times before, all it takes is that one big hit and Amanda will be the huge star we always knew she would be! |

| Junior Member ![]() ![]() ![]() | Grate Oz says it best. I have often been accused of being too critical of Amanda but I do it out of love. I expect a lot from her because I do set her apart from the "other" Actresses of her age. My guess is Amanda liked the script and part enough to want to be involved. However, I think she see's the big picture and that is Screen Gem's finding a film for her to star in. Part of the deal is to play a small part as a high schooler but the pay off is something bigger. For all we know she may have a role in mind or a book she wants them to buy the rights to so she can play the part. So, I am not as critical about this as I normally would be. I am happy it's not a remake or a sequel but something original for Amanda to make her own. I know this will lande her something bigger and possibly more personal. The downside is we have to wait another year for this film with her in a supporting role to come out. More bad news is it will take a year and a half to two years to see her do whatever starring role she has with Screen Gems. By that time let's hope she will be playing the part of a 25-26 year old woman. Yes, Amanda will be that old whe this starring role of hers come outs. Which sort of sucks! |

| Moderator ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I still believe Amanda is in the appropriate age range to play teen roles. Teen roles have been building blocks for many thespians. When you are 30+ it is almost impossible to play a teen role so let Amanda relish those roles while she still has the chance. But I do see what you are saying. Amanda can do so much better. Some of us in the past has suggested Amanda playing the role of an antagonist, and now she is doing so. This film seems like it will be a dark comedy, it may be a little more raunchy than the past. It has the main character feigning to be a S***. I am interested in how they are going to incorporate "The Scarlet Letter" into this film. Candace is indeed correct, Amanda probably sees the bigger picture. Her second film with Screen Gems may be colossal. I believe that Amanda may finally be busy again with her career. I think it is a blessing that Canned did not get pick up. She can now work on her movie career. I don't think Canned would have survived for a entire season anyways, not with the vuglar language it had. Shankman is still working hard with Hairspray 2, I really believe that Amanda will signed up for it although I don't really want her to. Shankman even stated that Hairspray 2 may be even in 3D (Seeing Amanda in 3D sounds awesome). There is also the possible Footloose and the potential Andy Fickman project. 2010 may be a glorious year for Amanda and her fans. Let's hope that Amanda starts picking up the pace. | Bynes=Love ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | What great news to come back to. I'm glad Amanda didn't rush to do a reality show or take part in crappy-ish movies...her patience and ours led to this great deal. It does seem kind of weird to go from a college movie back to a high school movie, but whatever. That's Hollywood. Maybe Easy A is a favor for Screen Gems, and in turn, she gets her own movie. Why not take part in an ensemble movie, if then you get to develop your own script. I'm excited. |

And this has the potential to be a big hit so there's that. I'd love to see Amanda in a raunchy Judd Apatow comedy. I thought she would have been perfect as Katherine Heigl's character in Knocked Up. We all know how funny Amanda is and hopefully Easy A will lead to more hilarious projects and even some serious dramas. Amy Adams started out doing comedies and now she is an Academy Award nominee. Could an Oscar be in Amanda's future? |

| Junior Member ![]() ![]() ![]() | I would not be at all surprised to see Amanda get at least an Oscar nomination sometime in the near future. Judd Apatow,Woody Allen or Wes Anderson(My all time favorite) are some directors who I hope see their muse in Amanda. I thought Amanda would have been great in the Ben Stiller film THE HEARTBREAK KID. Malin Akerman was hilarious, but I think Amanda could have been better. Amanda needs to start being more open minded with the material she does. Amanda in BRIDE WARS or THE PROPOSAL would have been great. I see all these films that Amanda would be great in and wonder if they were offered to her. |

But, obviously, things are improving a great deal now and we all know that she has the talent and potential to tackle any kind of role. Since you mentioned The Accused in the other thread, could you just imagine our girl sinking her teeth into a revolutionary role like that? I know she can do it! And she has all of these untapped emotions that she needs to explore. God, I would die and go to heaven if Amanda got a substantial role in a Woody Allen film like Scarlett and Evan Rachel Wood have! I have always maintained that great things are on the horizon and it looks like my wish is coming true! |
