Latest News on HAIRSPRAY 2

Heard an interview with Nikki Blonsky where she gave us the latest news on HAIRSPRAY 2.This was recorded yesterday, Memorial Day. I know this is a Amanda Bynes forum but this was a really good interview with Nikki.Lots of interesting stories about the making of HAIRSPRAY.She talks a lot about HAIRSPRAY and the making of the film. I mainly listened to it to hear the latest on HAIRSPRAY 2 and to hear if she mentioned Amanda at all (she didn't)

She has no idea whats going on. She did not even know they were thinking about making a second one, according to Nikki. She found out they were doing another film by receiving a text message and she was not even certain she was going to be in it. She does think everyone will be back and that it will take a while for everyone to clear their schedule. She also says that if there is a script, she has not read it and that even the director has not mentioned it to her as of yet.

She makes it sound like she will only do it if they bring everyone back,although she does not come out and say it. She said they will most likely plan 2 1/2 months for rehearsing and spend 4 months shooting like they did for the original.

The 22:30 mark is where she discusses HAIRSPRAY 2.

Thanks for the update. Hairspray 2 can still be release on its target date of July 2010 if the cast members from the first one has their schedule opened in July/August for rehersal and ready for filming time in the fall.

Good news/bad news, your pick. Amanda schedule is "Wide" open. If Shankman can pull out a decent story out of Waters ludicrous draft, I give my blessings. Clearly, hairspray 2 is among the small list of projects that is the closest of being decent for Amanda. And that isn't saying much. I guess Amanda has to start small again to rebuild her credibility as a staple actress, which means that she has to take upon several/many thank-less roles at the beginning.

E NEWS mentioned that HAIRSPRAY 2 is Adam Shankman's and John Waters next film. Shankman is pretty popular and busy so I find this hard to believe so I wonder if things are moving faster on this than expected.If Nikki has not heard anything I would be surprised if Amanda has.

Yes. I thought it was weird because of the timing.I live on the east coast but I think they repeat the previous night's E News Daily at 12:30Pm.

It looks like a go then. I'm sure Amanda would be involved in this if it comes to fruition. It's not really what I would have wanted for her but it is a sequel to a film that was a huge success for her, so I guess it's ok. I would be thrilled to see her in another Lifetime cheesy-movie-of-the-week at this point.
