A source close to the production further added that Cyrus "is definitely in the mix." As it stands, that mix currently includes Hayden Panettiere, Amanda Bynes and Dancing With the Stars pro Julianne Hough, all of whom have auditioned in recent weeks for the part of Ariel Moore, the independent-minded daughter of a preacher man, originated in the 1984 classic by Lori Singer" I barf at the fact that Miley Cyrus is being considered. Chace Crawford may replace Zac Efron. They should definitely pick Amanda, she proved herself in a supporting role in Hairspray. This may be the break Amanda needs. |

Amanda and Miley Cyrus up for the same part? Really? Amanda had to audition for the part to prove herself but Miley does not? Excuse Me? Have these people never seen Amanda before? Amanda can sing and yes, she can even dance. There has GOT TO BE a better part for Amanda out there instead of these table scraps they keep throwing at her.My advice to Amanda, keep looking! | Junior Member ![]() ![]() ![]() | I thought the same thing Brusha. Talk about tension! Footloose is NOT a musical, although I believe they did do a Broadway version that flopped. If they do this like the original,it's a movie with a popular soundtrack that somehow got labeled a musical. It's no more a musical than Flashdance is.In my opinion, this is just yet another pointless remake coming out of Hollywood. An original idea nowadays would be a shock to me! Miley is a little young, but she is hip and more than likely in her prime and that is what Hollywood wants. Whoever and whatever is popular RIGHT NOW!Amanda is above this and I am surprised she even took the time to audition,of course maybe when she auditioned for this Zac Efron was still attached and it was before CANNED got canned.Frankly, I am a little sad that Amanda is being offered a lame TV pilot and a supporting role/love interest in a so so 80's remake. Note to Amanda's Agent: IS THIS THE BEST YOU CAN DO? SERIOUSLY? |

Amanda has much more sex appeal than Lori Singer did in the original and I would love to see her play the preacher's daughter gone bad! And it does have the potential to be a big hit. If she were to win this role, certainly it would lead to big parts in major Hollywood films. That's just my take on it. |

I have to agree, Amanda is a 23 year old woman and her agent is having her audition for a role as a teenage high school student? There seems to be a serious disconnect between Amanda and her agent when her agent doesn't seem to realize that Amanda is an ADULT. This made me wonder what has been causing all of these career snafu's (screw ups). In chronological order this is what I have discovered so far. Initially Amanda was represented by Jason Heyman at United Talent Agency (UTA). From July 2005 to August 2008 she continued to be represented by Jason Heyman when he moved to Creative Artists Agency (CAA). It seems that Heyman did a fairly decent job during this time and it's not entirely clear why Amanda left them. ( Google cached link: http://74.125.47.132/search?q=cache:...&ct=clnk&gl=us ) In August 2008, she chose to be represented by Theresa Peters of the William Morris Agency (WMA) ( http://www.deadlinehollywooddaily.co...s-caa-for-wma/ ). In retrospect, this may not have been a wise decision. It's at this point where the train seems to come off the tracks. Just 2 months after Amanda signed with WMA, Theresa Peters (Amanda's agent) decided to leave WMA for United Talent Artists (UTA) apparently leaving Amanda behind. Add to this that WMA seemed to be undergoing some kind of internal turmoil and that would have virtually left Amanda without some kind of representation ( http://www.deadlinehollywooddaily.co...peters-to-uta/ ). I would imagine that Amanda had to be a bit concerned and distracted by all of this. It seems odd that this is also about the same time that Amanda started going out to all of those clubs. Coincidence? Since then, Amanda has changed her agent and agency once more to Megan Silverman of Endeavor Agency ( http://www.deadlinehollywooddaily.co...talent-agents/ ). Little wonder that Amanda hasn't been offered any decent roles or projects. Her representation has changed so often lately and her current agents, Megan Silverman and Endeavor Agency, doesn't seem know anything about their client. It's pretty obvious that the reason Amanda hasn't been getting offered any decent roles and projects is that her agents and their agencies haven't been doing what they were contracted to do. Isn't it high time that they start doing what they're suppose to be doing and that's finding better roles and projects for Amanda to choose from?!! * Last edited by Grate Oz; 05-23-2009 at 04:20 PM.. | ||

Very impressive! You should be an investigative journalist! I had a feeling that something was amiss with her representation and you have confirmed this. I've never even heard of Endeavor and I wonder if they can really give her the support and open doors to the industry that she really needs. The jury is still out but it's not looking good right now. |

| Junior Member ![]() ![]() | Oh it gets better (if you think sick and twisted is better)!! I decided to check out the Endeavor Talent Agency a little further so I went to Wikipedia ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Endeavor_Talent_Agency ). Everything was looking rather impressive. Hell, they even listed Amanda's friend Seth MacFarlane, among others, as a client. That seemed like a good sign that Endeavor was a good choice. Yep, everything was looking great UNTIL I got to the bottom of the page and started checking out the External Links. I clicked on the "The Endeavor Agency Company Profile at Yahoo!" link ( http://biz.yahoo.com/ic/53/53221.html ). At the bottom of that Yahoo page it stated that "Endeavor is planning to merge with rival William Morris Agency (WMA)." WHAT?!!! Amanda just left WMA to sign with Endeavor and NOW she maybe returning back to WMA because of some planned screwball merger?! YOU'VE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME!! What kind of sick, twisted joke is that? WMA couldn't find Amanda any work if they had a map, a flashlight, a GPS, a private detective and a pack of bloodhounds to help them!!! They've been that INEPT!! Amanda may end up pulling out her pretty blond hair in exasperation before all of this is over! In order to be sure that what I read was correct I even double checked this by going to Hoover's ( http://www.hoovers.com/the-endeavor-...-profile.xhtml ) and, sure enough, they confirmed it. I swear, if I didn't know better I would think someone is purposefully trying to screw up Amanda's career! These events are starting to take on a Britney-esque feel to them. Oh yeah, this whole circus just keeps getting better and better! NOT!!! * Last edited by Grate Oz; 05-23-2009 at 04:35 PM.. |

| Moderator ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Great detective work there Grate_Oz. I enjoy your commentary and your analysis of Amanda's representation history. Although I had expected Amanda's next project to be a eye-popper, I wouldn't mind so much if she signed up for this reenergized FootLoose. Her character sounds interesting enough and at least it is not a small supporting role. Many high school films are acted by twenties/thirties year olds. So age is not an important factor. This film will get alot of media attention since it is a re-make, so we will get to see alot of Amanda on talk shows and so forth. After a long drought, this potential movie project is sufficient enough for me although we all agree that Amanda can do so much better. |

The original is not a classic by any means but it did have a great soundtrack and lots of high energy moments. And the great John Lithgow was a plus! It would be interesting to see who they get to play the preacher father in this revamp. Who will be Amanda's daddy? And great job Oz on the investigations. It really does seem that someone is conspiring to ruin Amanda's career. |

| Junior Member ![]() ![]() | Well, I think we're getting a little ahead of ourselves here since Amanda hasn't actually been offered the role but I decided to compare the postive aspects of doing this remake of "Footloose" with the negative aspects and how it will affect her career. Beginning with the negatives. First: The role in the original is for a high school teen. Amanda, at the age of 23 is hardly a teen. She has expressed the desire on more than one occasion to do more mature roles that more accurately reflect her age. As it stands now, Amanda is known by the Hollywood establishment for doing only teenage roles and this role in "Footloose" runs the risk of further pigeon-holing Amanda as only a teen actress. Second: It is my understanding that the movie isn't slated to start filming until spring of 2010 so there will be quite a bit of lag time before Amanda would actually start work. Third: At the earliest the movie wouldn't be released until late 2010 but more likely in 2011. This means that Amanda's career wouldn't experience a bounce or benefit from her appearing in "Footloose" for at least 1 to 2 years. Fourth: We don't know, at this point, if the film will simply be a remake of the original or whether the movie will be a "re imagining" of the original and have significant revisions. Remakes generally don't fair well with the critics. Fifth: With the exception of Chace Crawford, we have no idea who will play the other significant characters in the movie such as the Preacher/Father that John Lithgow played in the original movie. These other characters will have a definite influence on the final result. Sixth: The primary male lead, Chace Crawford, has a rather limited acting portfolio with his most significant role being in the Fox television series "Gossip Girls". I think it is safe to say that "Gossip Girls" is hardly award winnig caliber television. As a side note, I also find it interesting that, like Amanda, Chace has done episodes of "Family Guy" for Seth MacFarlane. Seventh: I find it questionable for the producers of "Footloose" to expect other actresses, especially Amanda, to audition for the role but are reported to be more than willing to cast Miley Cyrus in the role, if she wants it, without an audition. While Miley, for now, certainly has "Star Power", like Chace, Miley has a rather limited acting portfolio and hardly the experience to carry a dramatic role such as this in a major movie. It makes me wonder if the producers are only interested in making another "Teen Flick" that totally lacks any substance. Enough of the negatives for now since I'm sure I could find many more. Now for the positives: First: Well, it IS a JOB and far be it from me to advise someone to turn down work. Second: It IS suppose to be a DRAMATIC role which will allow Amanda to expand beyond simply doing comedy. This experience would be a nice addition to her acting portfolio. Third: There is an slim OUTSIDE possibility that they may rewrite the character of Ariel Moore to be an older "college age" woman although that is rather unlikely. Fourth: Since "Footloose" isn't suppose to start filming till next year, this still allows Amanda the option to accept other short term projects in the meantime. Okay, so the negatives outweigh the positives. Still, even though I'm not trilled with Amanda doing "Footloose", since she actually won't be tied down to the role until next year then I don't see any reason for her to turn it down should she be offered the role (and that's a big IF). I just hope that it won't interfere with Amanda being offered an even better role that is more in tune with what she says is the way she wants her career to develop. I would advise her to make sure that she has some kind of contractual out should a better role come along. All that having been said, my gut feeling is that the "Footloose" producers won't offer the role to Amanda since, by most accounts, they seem hell bent on getting Miley Cyrus for the role. The bigger problem remains Amanda being unable to get her agent(s) to get off their butts and find some actual worthwhile projects and roles that Amanda can seriously consider that will be beneficial to her career and not require her to simply settle for whatever comes along. * Last edited by Grate Oz; 05-25-2009 at 03:04 AM.. |

I have my doubts about whether they would cast Amanda or not also. There may be the problem that she hasn't had any significant roles in the last couple of years so her career has cooled off considerably. But I do think she would be perfect in the role and I would certainly cast her over Miley if it were up to me. This will probably be a PG or PG-13 so I doubt that we would get to see Amanda in sexy scenes like Lori Singer did. But who knows? This might just be the open door that she must walk through to put the heat back on her. Like you, I'm hoping that she would take on some interesting projects in the interm or at least some guest spots on some established tv shows. We have used Christina Ricci as an example before and her guest spot on Holly Hunter's excellent show certainly didn't hurt her. I guess it's just a matter of waiting to see what happens next. God knows I will be supporting her no matter what she decides to take on. As long as it isn't Gossip Girl! LOL! |

And no wonder Amanda went out to clubs so much. She had to do something to be noticed if she didn't have or had less than decent representation. |

She really needs an agent that understands her strengths and can guide her in positive directions. Unfortunately, they all seem to be interested in the flavor of the moment and not stars that have the potential for significant and lasting careers. Of course, it's never too late, because Amanda looks better physically now than she ever has so they would be smart to hire her for major projects that would showcase her acting abilities as well as her astonishing beauty. I'd love to see her in period films because she would look fabulous in those vintage clothes. |

| Moderator ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Accordng to this article, Julianne Hough this week will screen-test for the role. I hope Amanda will get the chance to screen-test as well. I think Amanda would be the perfect choice. http://hollywoodinsider.ew.com/2009/...ose-exclu.html Also the article states that there will be lots of singing in this version. Now I really hope Amanda gets this role. I would like to see her sing and dance once more. The Hairspray producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron are the producers for this film. I wonder if this was one of the reasons why Amanda auditioned. Last edited by pranksalot; 05-28-2009 at 04:30 PM.. |
