| Bynes=Love ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20081122/...ollywood_labor The Screen Actors Guild said Saturday it will ask its members to authorize a strike after its first contract talks in four months with Hollywood studios failed despite the help of a federal mediator. The guild said it adjourned talks with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers shortly before 1 a.m. after two marathon sessions with federal mediator Juan Carlos Gonzalez. SAG, representing more than 120,000 actors in movies, television and other media, said in a statement that it will launch a "full-scale education campaign in support of a strike authorization." "We have already made difficult decisions and sacrifices in an attempt to reach agreement," the statement said. "Now it's time for SAG members to stand united and empower the national negotiating committee to bargain with the strength of a possible work stoppage behind them." The statement did not specify what led to the impasse, saying only that "management continues to insist on terms we cannot responsibly accept." A SAG spokeswoman said she would not comment further. A call to the movie producers group, known as the AMPTP, was not immediately returned. SAG's national board has already authorized its negotiating committee to call for a strike authorization vote if mediation failed. The vote would take more than a month and require more than 75 percent approval to pass. SAG is seeking union coverage for all Internet-only productions regardless of budget and residual payments for Internet productions replayed online, as well as continued actor protections during work stoppages. --- Maybe this is why Amanda hasn't done a project yet. |

| Moderator ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I hope this strike does not happen. But I know this is not why Amanda has not done a project yet. Amanda has plenty of opportunities to film a movie or work on a tv project many times in this 2 years break of hers. Practically every C list-A list actor/actress under the sun has worked on several projects. Every acting member from Hairspray has done 2 or more projects after the release of Hairspray in theaters. Nicole Blonksy did 3 projects and she is about to do a guest spot in a show, she is practically a C-lister. I am really disappointed in Amanda on how she handled her career lately. Sometimes she just makes the wrong decisions, like when to take a break from working. IF this strike happens, expect an another half of a year of no work. So this is like 3 year hiatus for Amanda if the stike happens. Amanda is not even a well-established star unlike Julia Roberts or Jim Carey who took a break from acting a while. They proved in the past they can make a killing at the box office in the past so they can easily obtain many offers after their break. Amanda hasn't had that kind of success yet. And if Amanda is only receiving only bad/weak movie offers, I say take it. Amanda has the power to convert weak scripts into wonderful films. You need to do something before people forget you, attending to a bunch of events does not count as keeping yourself in the media or a household name. There are alot of horrendous disney stars that are about to take your place. Amanda don't count on Hairspray 2 has your backup plan, the project already seems to be faltering by losing its main actor. We miss you from the small and big screen. It is hard for us fans to continue to support you if there isn't anything to look forward to in the near future. |

| Newbie | Again? I can't believe they want to strike so soon after the last one...seems like that one just ended last week... In response to about amanda filming movies, I'd like to offer my two cents worth: Perhaps she's decided that she doesn't want to solely work on expanding her movie career...I remember reading somewhere that stated she's expressed a desire to attend new york university in the near future, it may be that she is enrolled in a independant studies version of it just as she finished high school. If that's the case, it's easy to understand why she hasn't been too active in the film industry. Don't get me wrong, im a big fan of her as well, and love to see her up on the screen just as much as the next fan, but I think i almost prefer her not spending all her time filming. I like to think of her just leading a normal life (well, as normal as she can make it) and enjoying every minute of it-and she definitely deserves it. I'm going to guess that if she wanted to do more movies she would, and perhaps she just doesnt feel it's what she wants to do right now, and there is nothing wrong with that at all. (By no means do i intend to cause arguments, i just felt i'd like to say how i felt on it ) |

Many stars like Julia Stiles went to college around this age. But, she stated that thing about NYU a very long time ago, she hasnt brought up college in a while. |
