Default Amanda Bynes in a Horror Film

I thought I would start a new thread rather then respond to the Britney Snow (Other girl from HAIRSPRAY thread) because I wanted to go a little deper into this.

I personally can not see Amanda doing a horror film. She seems to perky and happy and light to do one. Unless of course it were a 'SCARY MOVIE' type comedy horror film (which is still more or less a comedy) It just doesn't seem to be her bag.

Has Amanda ever stated on the record the type of films she would NOT do? I can't see her in a real deep depressing drama or any kind of films where you leave the theatre feeling down and sad.(or in the case of a horror film, terrified) I could not see Amanda in a film like HOSTEL or HOUSE OF WAX. I can't see Amanda being in a film where she is tortured or killed in some disgusting gross way (Paris Hilton in HOUSE OF WAX for example)

Anyone agree or disagree?

There are "horror" films and then there are "suspense" films or thrillers, which are different. What if a suspense film like DISTURBIA was written for a young female lead, instead of a young guy like Shia LaBeouf? No one here would mind seeing AB in a film like that.

I think most of us would agree that AB's "fairy tale" phase is over now. But that's OK; there are many other types of movies that should interest a 22-year-old actress.

DISTURBIA was not a horror film though. PROM NIGHT was originally planned to be a R rated film and I am curious if Britney Snow would have still done the film if it was rated R. I sort of Agree about Amanda's fairy tale esque films coming to an end. Anne Hathaway has sort of retired from that genre and its time for Amanda to as well.

Yeah I could totally see her in those kind of films.

cdc792000, you're looking at Amanda the same way I used to look at Jim Carrey. I always thought he was a zany/goofy guy and comedy movies were his only option. But he came out with really fantastic serious movies and surprised me big time. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind is one of my all-time favorite movies now. And The Number 23 was awesome. Who would have thought that Jim can pull off roles like that?

Amanda has mentioned that she wants to have a long career. And I do think getting into new genres will help here achieve that. That doesn't mean quitting comedy. She should still do comedy, like Jim Carrey does. I always thought Amanda had an amazing sense of comedy so I would hate it if she stopped doing funny movies. But she should also keep her options open so that when a good role in a serious film comes along, she can take advantage of it.

You should check out the episode she did for The Nightmare Room:

It's aimed at a young audience, but it is different from any acting she has done in the past.

I agree that Amanda needs to broaden her film repertoire. Where to not she goes into horror or not is not important. Her forte seems to be in comedy, however. Disturbia wouldn't have worked as well with a female lead; remember it was in actuality, a remake of Hitchcock's Rear Window. A serious drama might be just the thing for her.

Default Well,

The one role I am dying to see Amanda play is the villlian. It could be in a comedy where she is just so over the top, she could be the scene stealer or if its a drama or action film. I could have seen her in the Teri Hatcher role in SPY KIDS to the Emily Blunt role in DEVIL WEARS PRADA. I guess I want to see her do this because she has such a nice girl image, it would be fun for her to poke fun of her squeaky good girl persona.

I know I can not be alone on this. Who else wants to see Amanda slap a another girl hard across the face or steal an idea of hers or do something mean and evil?

I cant see Amanda not open to doing other genres, It might be hard for her to cross over. Im sure when movies are casting for drama or suspense she might not be the first one called. Amanda has never really expressed any genre she wouldnt do, but she has said many times she wants to do movies that are fun and that she likes. She has always been picky with her movies but Im sure we will se Amanda in something else other then comedy. Even though Im not huge fan most horror movies, I wouldnt mind seeing her in one, I would prefer that she did a drama though.

Since she is already working on R movies and one movie already completed thats flirting with an NC17 rating I would have to say yes.

"Finding Amanda" is rated R for strong sexual content including graphic dialogue, pervasive language, drug content and brief nudity. I don't know abouta NC-17 movie.

^Yep, "Finding Amanda" is rated R so that answer the first question. And open32 mentioned in the other thread that "On The Doll" may get an NC-17 rating. I haven't heard anything about any of these movies until now so I can't really provide any more info.

On The Doll is stuck in limbo, kinda like Lovewrecked and Havoc was. Supposedly the movie contains a few full sex scenes including a scene with full nudity from Brittany Snow. The movie had a distributor who pulled out, also supposedly, because of a possible NC17 rating (I dont believe the movie was ever screened for a rating). This movie would have been made before Hairspray.

Full nudity from Brittney? OMG! I don't have a problem with nudity at all, it's just that if she did this before Hairspray she would have been so young (but legal) Anne Hathaway did Havoc and before the film came out there was a lot of hype about her nude scenes. It was not as graphic as the hype built it up to be (she still had her Princes Diary image) Well, turns out the scenes were shot, but left on the cutting room floor. Anne said in a interview she had no regrets and felt doing the film helped her grow as an actress, so I am not judging her "if" she did a full nude scene. It just seems most actresses wait a little til they are more comfortable and older.

I always applaud actors and actresses who are willing to take a chance and do something risky. I think this helps them grow and learn from their craft. I think if Amanda were to do a horror film I would feel the same. She would be doing something risky and making an attempt to branch out into other genres, which in my opinion is what a filmmaker wants in a actor. Range! If Amanda wants a long career she should consider all types of films and not just sweet comedies. Meryl Streep for example has done comedy, drama, action, musicals, and theater. I don't think there is anything she can not do.
