| Member ![]() | I'll admit she's pretty, but the ratings on the movies she in are poor!!!!! Big Fat Liar - The film received mixed reviews, getting a "Rotten" rating at Rotten Tomatoes of 44% What a Girl Wants - IMBd gave it a 5.7 rating out of 10. She's the Man - IMBd gave it a 6.5 out of 10. Lovewrecked - On its Rotten Tomatoes listing, only 17% of critics gave the film positive reviews, Christopher Null of FilmCritic gave the film 2 out of 5 stars, stating that "Bynes has made far better films." Sydney White - At Rotten Tomatoes, only 38% of critics gave the film positive reviews. ![]() |

So you can't always go by the numbers. What matters more... what other people think? or what you think? Now, I'll admit, the movies she has done don't have such a large audience. And I don't think those types of movies are really popular amongst critics and probably the majority of movie-watchers in general. That's what I think hurts the ratings. Her movies are geared towards a small/specific audience. Even though Lovewrecked got bad reviews... it's still my favorite Amanda film so far. I really don't care what other people think though. Not everyone has the same taste. I think now that Amanda is getting older she will start to move towards those other type of movies that have a larger audience, which will most likely get better ratings. If you go on IMDb and look up some of your favorite actors, you will see that the first several movies they have done are all low-rated, low-buget films. Amanda's movie career has really only just begun. I'm sure she will get better roles in better films as she gets older. So look out for the future! Last edited by sparky : 04-07-2008 at 09:48 PM. |

There not competing against the 100 million dollar, mega special effects blockbuster or the Oscar dramas. There light comedies and Amanda did a good job in all of them. They do get progressively older, I saw BFL in the theater. Most of them did win a Kids Choice or Teen Choice Award. |

Most actors/actresses I know have loads of movies below that level. Lovewrecked doesn't count because it never came out to theaters in the U.S. Mostly indie films get 60% or higher, that is how hollywood works most of the time. Comedy films/chick flicks rarely makes past 50% unless they are indie films like Juno. Heck, Good Luck Chuck got 3% in Rotten and it beated Sydney WHite in the box office. 6.5/10 is actually very good in imdb. Rarely any movie gets 7.0 and higher. Even big actors only have a few of their movies that got 7.0 or higher. Last edited by pranksalot : 04-08-2008 at 07:31 AM. |

| Bynes=Love ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | A lot of people vote and don't watch the movies on IMDB too, they just might rate it low because they don't like an actor, director, or the hype or whatever. Critics don't matter very often, and even so Amanda has usually gotten good reviews for her performances even if the critics don't like the overall movie. The fans like them, which is what matters. ![]() |

Anthony Hopkins, Tom Hanks, Matthew McConaughey, Denzel Washington, Morgan Freeman, and Jim Carrey for actors. ( I know someones going to laugh at my Jim Carrey pick ) Jodie Foster for actress. My 5 favorite movies are Alien/Aliens, Starman, Contact, Meet Joe Black, and The Majestic. ( Got this thing for Sci-Fi )

And Jim Carrey and Denzel are also one of my favorites. (Just as a side note: who cares if people laugh at your pick of Jim Carrey. He's one of my favorites too. It doesn't matter what other people think... only what you think) Now take a look at the IMDb page for each of the actors you just listed. Have a look specifically at their first several films. As you can see, they are all mostly low-rated films. Before they ever became a huge success, they had a good 10 years of poor/average films. Also look at your favorite movies. Check the IMDb pages of the actors who starred in those movies and you will see the same thing. Before they ever starred in your favorite movies of all time, they had plenty of low-rated films which not many people cared about. So my point is, Amanda's film career has literally only just begun. The actors you've listed are 20-50 years ahead of her. I'm sure she will be at that level in 20 years as well. It takes a lifetime of movie making to get recognized as one of the best. And all the bests had shakey starts and tons of low-rated films. I actually think Amanda is on a very good start for only 5 years of movie making. She's only 22 years old. Give her time ![]() Last edited by sparky : 04-09-2008 at 08:32 PM. |

| Member ![]() | Sparky, I agree with everything you said. Let just give her some time and see what happens. Maybe in 10 years she will have several oscar nomination, We'll see. It's just that certain posters on this site act like she's the greatest thing since sliced bread. It's like they have blinders on. If you go back a few years to when "Baywatch" was on, everyone was talking about Pamela Anderson. She was drop dead gorgeous and had a killer body, but was she a great actress? Mark |

To me, Amanda is the greatest. And she always will be. You don't have to like a person just because of the rating their movie received. It's OK if you want to think she is a bad actress... but you have to understand that this is just your opinion. I'm sure there are tons of people who feel the same way about the actors you listed above, and that's their opinion. To me, Amanda is on a whole new level compared to any of them... that's my opinion. There are tons of movies I dislike, and tons of actors who I think are overrated. But I don't go join their fansites and start threads about it because I respect other peoples opinions. So I wonder, what exactly are you trying to accomplish with this one?

| Junior Member ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I wish I was more like you guys, but I tend to watch a movie if critics like the movie. I mean if most critics praised the performance of the leading actor/actress but overall disliked the movie, I would still watch the movie in the cinemas. If most of the reviews are mostly negative, the overall picture and the terrible performances from actors...I will likely skip it unless I really intrigued in seeing it anyways and I would just watch it online for free. I think Amanda got pretty good reviews overall in and out for the type of films that she has been in. Most teen movies tend not do well in critical reviews and get like 15% and lower on Rotten Tomato (E.g. Most of Hilary Duff films). But so far Amanda films get 30% and plus, pretty good for the genre. Also there are little to no profanity or any below the waist humor, which is rare for a teen movie. So if you account all those things, I think Amanda is getting "a pretty decent" overall rating. Last edited by pranksalot : 04-11-2008 at 03:19 AM. |

You are right about one thing, the fact that you think Amanda is on a whole new level compared to any of them, That's your opinion. Apparently you're one of the posters I was talking about. ![]() This reminds me of my daughter, when she thought Barry Watson from 7th Heaven was the greatest actor in the world. She had his pictures all over her room. She had blinders on. Now that she has grown up, she just looks back at that time and laughs.

| Member ![]() | You're oviously so defensive about anything that is said about your beloved Amanda, that if anyone mentions anything that doesn't agree with your point of veiw you resort to insults. Some day when you mature a little, maybe then you will understand some of the points I made. ![]() |
