So, who is her boyfriend?

I assumed she didn't have one. I mean, everywhere she goes she is either alone, with her dog or her big sister. I never see her with a guy. I think once in Hawaii and about a month ago at a movie theatre is the only time I can recall. I can understand her wanting to keep that private, but she is seen with her sis why not her BF? I would think she would want to show him off.

Is this still josh? The reason I ask is Josh was a dancer and this guy she talks about in Seventeen is a web designer. Any pics of this guy? His name? How they met?

It is Josh. He went to school for webdesign and I think the dancing thing was just a hobby. She doesn't want to show him off, because people would be hounding him/them nonstop.

From the latest in Seventeen, its deffinitly seems to be Josh. They meet while filming Hairspray, he was a background dancer, like Brusha said he is a dancer probably just as a hobby. And he went to York Sheridan University, a design school that also does digital arts, we knew Josh was a webdesigner before Seventeen. This April probably makes it about 1 year 5 months (right?). We do have several photos of him.

I could be wrong, but I could have swore a few months back while doing press for her SYDNEY WHITE that she said in an interview she did not have a boyfriend and that she was dating. Could maybe they have taken their relationship to the next level? Were just friends and now something more? Maybe they were not dating? Hmmmmmmm. Thoughts?

As long as Amanda is happy thats all that counts.

It's pretty simple... She was lying. And for good reason.

The less information the press gets, the less they have to work with. She does a good job staying out of the tabloids, and it's partly because she keeps things in her personal life private.

She has had many interviews this past year where she said she didn't have a boyfriend. I know she said that on Tyra's show and Jay Leno, for example. Some things are better kept private. This is actually the first time she has admitted to having a boyfriend so it kind of surprised me.

What reason would she have to announce it now unless its serious? I don't think Amanda would come out and lie, but I feel that maybe they just were not as close as they are now. This is why I thought she had a new guy. I was not aware of Josh being a dancer/web designer. I thought we were talking about 2 different people. That and the fact that he is rarely seen with her made me wonder. I mean, she goes to A LOT of social events and premieres. She has no problem being seen with her sister. Does he sit 5 rows behind her at the movies? Does she have to walk several steps in front of him so they are not seen together? I just feel it's kind of sad. Amanda comes across as being too down to earth to put a guy through that.

Amanda has always been pretty private and she does lie about the boyfriend thing, pretty much all the time. Even back with Nick Zano, she never admitted to it until long after, even in an interview on Regis and Kelly with Nick and the whole WILAY cast right there with her, even though the fansites already had pictures. (Its ok, we understand it though, its for her own privacy and safety.)

As to why come out with it now, I think because many people now know, all the photo sites and blogs know to list boyfriend if he is in the picture, she still didnt say his name. And her sister just isnt tabloid fodder, a boyfriend is.

There really are so few pictures of them together; one reason could be they dont go to the movie theaters or the restaurant where the paparazzi are, I cant imagine its that hard to do. She lives(ed) in Ventura Country, its quite a ways from LA and Hollywood. (If I went to the theater around the corner from me, theres no chance of paparazzi being there, if I went to the one on South Beach or North Beach then there might just be a few). The other is she doesnt seem to take Josh to the big public events and we only rarely see her in candids.

There is no doubt that their relationship is serious. They've been together for well over a year now and in my opinion, once you hit the 6-month mark it is a serious relationship. Besides, why would Amanda be with someone for that long if it weren't?

Yeah I do think their public relationship is based a lot on what you (cdc792000) have mentioned above. But sometimes, it's better to lay low and not give the paparazzi fuel to throw into the flame. Once that flame gets big enough, and starts encroaching on your private life... well, at that point you wont have a private life anymore. And once that's gone, you can start to lose your mind, like some other celebrities we know. I don't blame her for lying all those other times. And I think she should continue to lie for the sake of keeping some things in her life private and avoid unwanted attention.

Why is she announcing this news now? I can't answer that for you. Maybe open32 is right and it's just because everyone knows already at this point. But just look at the whole interview, not just that part. The whole thing is basically a side we've never seen.
