No Golden Globes: Amanda will not cross WGA line

At the Palm Springs Film Festival Amanda told Access Hollywood that she was invited to the Golden Globes for the first time. Amanda said she will not cross the WGA lines who announced they will picket the show.

On Friday, the Screen Actors Guild released a statement saying its members would not cross the WGA’s picket lines to attend the Golden Globes
“We’ll respect that wish and hope that something gets resolved before the event. If not, I guess it will be postponed maybe,” John Travolta told Access.
Travolta is nominated for Best Supporting Actor, Musical or Comedy, while “Hairspray” is up for best film, musical or comedy.

Co-star Amanda Bynes, will also stand behind their union.
“I’ve never been invited before so I was very excited to go, so it’s disappointing,” Bynes said. “Maybe next year or the year after.”

And Bynes isn’t the only disappointed star.
“I got a dress and it was amazing and I was really bummed out about that because it was like, my Golden Globe dress,” Bynes’ “Hairspray” co-star Brittany Snow said.

First time Globe nominee Nikki Blonsky, who was presented with the Rising Star award by the original Tracy Turnblad, Ricki Lake, shied away from a definite no. The nominee for Best Actress, Musical or Comedy said she is undecided about whether she’ll attend.

Its good that she is suporting her union. She and the SAG may be joining them on strike come June, when the SAG contract is up.

Yeah, I read that too. It would be almost selfish if they did cross the picket line for an award.

I have a scary feeling that there will be no Amanda movie in 2008. I think she also supports the writer guild as well, that is probably the reason why she have not signed on to a movie project yet. And the Actor Guild might go on strike too in June. Once that happens, Amanda cannot make a movie after June unless a contract gets settled. 2008 will probably be a sad year for us Amanda fans. All we have to look forward to is some events/red carpets and maybe more interviews for her clothing line and that is it. It have been almost 9 months since Amanda have filmed her last movie. :(

Looks like they will be replacing the award show ceremony with some sort of press conference/news show.

I hope they resolve this strike soon. For the same reason that pranks mentioned above.

People seem to forget, ALOT of stars have made deals prior to the strike. Amanda has said in interviews and dropped clues about what she is looking to do next. My guess, she knows and has known for awhile now what her next project will be. I think she's waiting til the start date gets closer to announce or maybe she has narrowed it down but not sure exactly whats she is gonna do.Of course, I have no idea, but I am confident she will have a film out by the end of the year or atleast start a film by then. She is too big now and when your this hot you DO NOT take time off and wait.My guess is Amanda did not choose to wait this long before getting back to work but the strike may have delayed some projects.

I have to agree there may not be an Amanda movie in 2008. She may film one sometime during the year but they usually take several months from filming to the movie screen. Sydney White was actually pretty fast.

Unfortunately a strike means they stop working even if there under contract, like the writers did mid-season. Also a lot of movies wont start filming without writers, most scripts are written or rewritten to be actor/actress specific. Once the actors are sign scripts are usually retooled to those people. So this does slow down movie production. It just depends how far along the specific project is.

Hopefully this gets settled for the WGA and the SAG. Dont want Amanda to have to strike.

Yeah I hope everything gets settled too. And I have to think that it would ruffle a lot of people's feathers in the industry if a movie gets started. People like Ellen Degeneres are under contracts where they still have to work even though they support the strike and she has taken some heat so it's affecting everyone. Too bad Amanda doesn't want to record an album, now would be a perfect time to do it.

Ellen did that by choice, her show doesnt use writers but even still the writers didnt like it, they even picketed outside her studio a few times.

I was talking more about if theres a SAG strike. Amanda would have to follow that no matter what.

Actually Ellen does use writers to do her monologues with her and what not, and the info is on IMDB, Karen Kilgariff is her head writer and was seen picketing. One thing I don't really get is why they use writers because I don't really notice too much difference as far as talk shows go, but anyway, it sucks either way and I hope the SAG doesn't strike too....I just found on IMDB that the Golden Globes are going on as a one hour press conference.

Wow, I really cant believe it, Hairspray went 0 for 4 at the Golden Globes announcement. Nothing for Nikki or Travolta. It deserved to win something.

I was disappointed too. I really wanted Nikki or Ellen Page to win for Best Actress. I watched a few of the post shows and a lot of the critics were very disappointed with the winners.

I didnt care for the winners ether but im not surprised, I never really like the golden globes, the winners are rarely movies I enjoy. Many of which I havent even seen, like No Country. I like the Peoples Choice Awards or MTV awards more.

I didnt get to see Juno yet, I want to though. I like Ellen Page.

Juno was great, one of the best movies of the year. I'm so suprised Ellen Page hasn't won any awards for it yet. (That I know of)
