I'm just so upset that Amanda didn't get a nomination! She really deserved it!

I think she would have had to have been in the movie more and had more musical numbers and what not. Elijah Kelly did amazingly in the movie too and he wasn't nominated. I'm sure that she will be nominated some day.

The movie was filled with really good performances, clearly Nikki Blonsky did great as the main character and was the only one who could have been nominated for best actress and with everyone else in the movie, it must have been hard to find one supporting actor to nominate as the best.

Yeah I agree. I am surprised that Amanda wasn't recognized more for the movie since she did so much with the character. If another actress played Penny she could have sank into the background but Amanda definitely stood out.

And I think that's always why Hairspray has won and been nominated for ensemble cast, because almost every person in the movie is worthy of a Golden Globe.

Did you guys realize that Hairspray was never #1 at the box office but made $118 million, the soundtrack was not #1 but sold more than 1 million copies, and the DVD wasn't number one but has made more than $43 million in two weeks AND the movie has been nominated for tons of awards.

It had very tough competition durring the theater and DVD release, like Die Hard 4 for DVD and Harry Potter in theaters. Number 1 doesnt matter that much, it did better then a lot of this years movies that where number 1. For a musical it did amazing everywhere though. And just look at its world wide, 200 million.

Guys lets be grateful the movie is well knwon and what do numbers matter when she did the movie and we can see her there in it?!I think the most important thing is that she had the role of Penny and she did a great job and we should be happy for her.

About the Golden Globes, the Screen Writers are deciding whether or not to picket the event, if that happens many stars may not cross those lines.
