About 1,900, STM was 2,600, WAGW 3,000, and Hairspray was 3,200. So much competition that week, and now a Disney Family Comedy called The Game Plan opens with 800 the same day. Thats going to limit opening weekend no matter what. Good thing is Amanda's fan will go to see it no matter what, even if its not opening weekend. I still think it will do good, I think she has more fans now then ever. |

Many theater owners probably hesitated in showing it in their theater because they know Resident Evil is going to be victorious that weekend. I wished Universal released Sydney White eariler. It's as if they are trying to make Sydney White bomb in the box office on purpose with their terrible advertising campaign and also releasing their highly anticpated movie "The Kingdom" the following week. I just hope all the old fans and new fans Amanda made in hairspray and She's the Man will support Sydney White. This is tragic. |

I knew it was bad news when I saw 5 other movies were opening that day. What a stupid weekend for them to choose. I guess I will try to see this one twice too, cause I don't want Amanda to have a flop. |

We don't expect Sydney White to be number 1 so I think it will make from the 7-9 million dollar range. Movies that come out on from Mid-Sept to Ocotober don't tend to do well. I question Universal motives for releasing Sydney White at this time. |

The going perdiction is under 7. But even with that opening it will pass 20 million with no problem. Universal is such a big company that they have to release a movie almost 2 twice per month. The ones with lower budgets usualy get this september spot, it was probably there intention all along and there counting on Amanda's fan base to see the movie no matter what even with little to no advertising. In a way its a complement that there counting only on Amanda. Last edited by open32; 09-16-2007 at 09:51 PM.. |
