Bynes and Hathaway used to resembles Betty and Veronica in the new archie comics

The much talked-about moment has finally arrived. After over 65 years of existence with only the slightest change in their design, the Riverdale gang gets a complete makeover. The typical, cartoon-ish art style is replaced by something more hip, modern and realistic. Betty resembles movie star Amanda Bynes, Veronica resembles Anne Hathaway and their clothes appear to be taken directly from the pages of Teen Vogue.

When the news of this change hit a few months back, it garnered all sorts of attention, both from the comics and mainstream media. It also stirred up a fair amount of controversy from loyal fans and even those who haven’t picked up an Archie comic in years bemoaning the fact that the beloved icons were changing their appearance. While Archie has gone on the record as saying that this is only one storyline in one book, the change is not universal, it has gotten people talking about Archie Comics again. And I consider that a good thing. "

Wow Betty does look like Amanda(I believe the look to be from Hairspray). Hathaway really does look like Veronica as well.

I guess there is somewhat of a resemblance. I think the doll looks more like Amanda. If they can get a doll to look more like Amanda then a drawing, im wondering if that was there intent or if it just happened that way.

I don't think she looks like Amanda at all. Veronica on the other hand is a spitting image of Anne.

No I think just the comic is being updated.

You have to look at the picture for a while to see the resemblence to Amanda. Anne's pops right out.
