But she's about to take on a modern telling of that classic fairy tale, a studio film that goes into production in Central Florida on Wednesday. Bynes, 20, of TV's What I Like About You and such big-screen comedies as She's the Man, has the title role in Sydney White, a college-set Snow White with Bynes as a freshman who reforms the "seven outcasts" of her downtrodden sorority so that they can take on the reigning campus queen and alter the social hierarchy. So says a spokesperson for Morgan Creek, production company for the low-budget ("under $20 million") comedy. Joe Nussbaum, who did last year's American Pie Presents: The Naked Mile, which went direct-to-video, will direct a script by Chad Creasey. It's Creasey's first feature screenplay to make it before the cameras. Also in the cast are Jeremy Howard of Accepted, Matt Long of TV's Jack & Bobby and Sara Paxton, the mermaid from Aquamarine. Morgan Creek is a long-established production company that mixes prestige projects such as The Good Shepherd and Heist with comedies of all stripes, from the Ace Ventura movies to Man of the Year. Bynes, a former child star of The Amanda Show who has made the leap to young -adult roles, already has one hotly anticipated film in the can, the big-screen musical Hairspray, starring John Travolta in drag. It's due out this summer. Her TV series, What I Like About You, ended its four-year run last year, and her last film, Lovewrecked, didn't play in U.S. theaters but was a ratings hit on the ABC Family Channel in January. Sydney White is the first studio film to shoot in Orlando since Larry the Cable Guy: Health Inspector in August 2005. |

But she is very smart and talented and I'm afraid that she is going to be pigeonholed as just another female comic and not be taken seriously. Not that I think that there is anything wrong with her career so far. I'm just saying that she is so much more than just that. I hope that she gets to do some dramatic roles so she can show everyone what she is capable of. |

I hope that doesnt happen. Lots of actresses get stuck. But she is slowly moving out of the kid stuff, each movie has been more mature then the last. Hopeful Morgan Creek makes this comedy a little more like a scray movie or american pie rather then a movie like aquamarine which was made for kids. I hope she does a drama also. |
