Video 6.8MB http://www.megaupload.com/?d=Q78ZGK63 Credit: rlb Quote: yM: What attracted you to "She's the Man"? AB: I loved the idea of playing a guy and a girl in the movie and I thought it would be funny to do a movie that wasn't just about becoming a princess and being the prettiest girl in school. I wanted to do a movie where I could dress up as a guy and sort of struggle through high school like some kids do - just make light of it and try to make a silly, funny comedy. yM: How did you prepare yourself for becoming one of the guys? AB: Once I wore the wig and the sideburns and eyebrows, it really felt like I was a man. Once I had the costume on it was very easy for me to take on the guy characteristics and become a goofy sort of man. yM: How did you go trying to master the soccer field? AB: I had never played soccer before this movie and I never realised how hard it is - you have to have very strong legs. And I have definitely not played now in like seven months so I don't think I could play like I did. So it was fun to learn for a movie but I'm glad I don't have to do it again. yM: Your character Viola is a bit of a tomboy. Are you a bit of a tomboy yourself? AB: I think I'm more of a girly girl - sort of in between that and a tomboy - because I'm not prissy - you know I'll go bowling or whatever - I do like to do stuff that's sporty, but I'm definitely not good in any athletic way. yM: The script in the film was very young and hip with lines like "1800-BIATCH" - did you have any input here? AB: Well the part in the movie where I do the "One, two, three, four, five" and then I slap him [Robert Hoffman] in the face - actually I came up with that. And I was sort of irritated with Robert - who plays Justin - at that time - I think he was getting into character by being a total jerk, so I would just sort of get into it and eventually I just slapped him in the face. And he was like, "I cannot believe you just slapped me," and then Andy [Fickman] the director eventually was like, "Ok you have to keep on doing that - you have to keep slapping him" - so that was exciting! yM: How tough was it pashing uber-hottie Channing Tatum on set? AB: It was horrible having to kiss Channing Tatum, I gotta tell ya, no girl should ever have to do that - cos it was "nish gut"! yM: You all really gelled on screen - how was the vibe on set? AB: The whole cast just got along really well and it was lucky because sometimes you'll have different people in it who are arrogant or jerks, and nobody was like that so we all got along and hung out every night - we'd go get food, go see movies - and it made it the most fun experience with a kind of college or high school type atmosphere because everybody was young... and willing! (laughs) yM: So tell us about your favourite scene in the movie. AB: One of my favourite scenes in the movie would have to be when I was dressed up as a guy and I was falling in love with my guy roommate, Channing. I was sort of acting as a girl but looking like a guy - I think that was the most fun for me to play because I got to be very weird and I made people very uncomfortable which I kind of enjoyed in a freaky way. yM: You really shot to fame through your TV work - do you prefer the big screen to the small screen? AB: You know, doing TV is really fun because it's on every week and there's something exciting about being involved in something that airs all the time. When you're on TV people do feel like they know you in a weird way because you're in people's homes. But there is just something about being in movies that is I think every person's dream when they're young or growing up - because everyone loves movies and there's something about movie stars that is sort of exciting. I still feel like I'm working my way up - I hope I can just keep on getting better and do it for as long as I can. yM: How does it feel to be a role model to teenagers out there? AB: I'm really grateful to be a role model for kids. It's something that I take pride in and I want to be someone that girls can look up to. Also - it's fun to just have fun and you don't have to do things that your mum and dad would be mad about in order to have a good time. yM: What's your advice to other aspiring young actresses out there trying to make it big? AB: My advice for someone that wants to do acting would be to try and do plays in the area where you live, in school or community theatre, and then besides that I think watching movies really is a great way to learn how the best do it - it's sort of like an acting class that you can watch for free - don't steal the movie though - you have to pay for it! yM: What does Amanda Bynes do to chill out on her day off? AB: I really sleep more than anything because I don't know what it is but doing interviews just sort of takes it out of you. So if I'm ever not working, I'm probably in bed - just sleeping the day away - which is depressing - but it's what I do! yM: If you could be a boy for a day in real life, what would you do? AB: If I were a boy again for a day I would probably, I'd probably do what every other guy does - play video games, eat and watch TV. yM: What's up next for you? AB: Right now, I'm just enjoying Australia but besides that I turn 20 in a week - so it's my big birthday. I did a movie called "Lovewrecked" which I think will be coming out this year and besides that I'm sort of taking a little break before I start reading for other things because you have to have time for yourself and enjoyment.
