It's a gambit to get close to the campus cool guy, a soccer player who's not sure what to make of the whole thing. Bynes, 19, is the youngest of three children of a dentist dad who grew up in Thousand Oaks, Calif., where she used to practice her sister's lines in school plays. But it was Bynes who nabbed a role on Nickelodeon's "All That" in 1994, then became a star in 1999 with "The Amanda Show." Her films include "Big Fat Liar" (2002) and "What a Girl Wants" (2003). 1. When you were pretending to be a guy did you shop in the men's or women's section? Oh, I'm very girly. I like shimmery eye shadow. I love makeup like Nars and Mac. I'm obsessed with cosmetics like foaming facial wash. I'm the girl whose biggest nightmare would be to lose my makeup bag while traveling. So naturally I shop in the girl's section. 2. What did you learn about being a boy from your new movie? I never want to be a guy. It was even hard for me to watch the movie for the first time. I brought my sister who told me that for half of the movie I was covering my eyes. It was like watching someone else because I'm a guy, but it's still me. I guess that's surreal. It was also 13 hours a day of not feeling feminine or like a girl. That was definitely hard on the old ego. I feel much more comfortable as girl. 3. Would you date yourself as a guy? I'd probably say no. Once I got to know me, however, I might change my mind because I do have a great personality. But I'd still probably say no. I hope I'd at least go out with me once and give myself a chance. 4. What are you looking for in a guy? Well, I like guys who are funny and not jerks. Jerks need not apply. 5. Why don't we read that you're dating that Wilmer guy, and why isn't your picture plastered all over the tabs each week? Why haven't you gone all Lindsay or Paris on us? It's a conscious effort to be like that, but in the long run what good does it do? It's like being the hot girl at the high school party. I was never that girl. I grew up with terrible acne and feeling insecure. I was tall and skinny. I didn't feel pretty at all, and guys didn't even like me. That's why I got into comedy. http://www.suntimes.com/output/peopl...-fiveq121.html |
