The thread. Plastic Flute likes the idea and appreciates you offering advice.
However she couldn't think of a concrete question right now.

I'll try to make a start ... *thinks*
OK. How about that.

Since two years ago my father (he divorced my mother long time ago) has a new girlfriend. She has a daughter (17), who is cute. I can't tell her, because she has a boyfriend (19?) for a year now. Even though the two of them separated for a short time, because he needed more "space", they are now back together.
.
I probably wouldn't be a better catch for her, so there's no need for me to tell her that that I have a crush. I've been trying to lose interest in her but yet to no avail - everytime I visit my father and she's there my infatuation for her returns. I can handle the situation, as it is now - it's not even close to the pains of unrequited love that I had to experience in my school days. Also I don't think that I could possibly start a relationship now. Still, it's somewhat bothering me to see her with another guy...
.
Should I say and do anything or continue with the wait-and-see-strategy, which would be looking for someone else? How about casual compliments on her looks? What if I screw those up because of my shyness?

I think that if you have feelings for this girl then tell her how you feel. On average 89% of males theses day are to shy to tell the people that they love how they feel and the girl ends up getting married and havings children, which just makes things worse. Not saying that this is wats going to happen to you because the girl is only 17. Casual compliments on her looks are a good place to start. I no its hard to think of telling her how you feel because of all the bad things that could happen. If i was in your shoes then i would wait for a good time and tell her how you feel, because thats the only way your going to find out if she feels the same way.

Yes, congratulations.
There are many FH members with problems...

..particularly with "obsessions".

Might not this thread be more appropriate under a different forum? Perhaps Whatever or the Men/Women forums with a redirect from one to the other.

As Flute already suggested, we'd love you to start a thread in Women's forum. Click on my signature to take you there.
