Looooong downtime

I've noticed over the past month (coincidentally (?) since this post-counting thing started) that the forum goes down a lot, and for long periods. Today, it was down for approximately 6-8 hours (didn't keep perfect track, don't know when it started). There have been other times it has been down for an hour or two at a time. I didn't notice any downtime before the post-counting started, but this is at least the fourth time, and definitely the worst.

I know "stuff happens", I'm just wondering if you could share with us the cause, if you know, so I know what exactly I should be asking my deity of choice to lay a curse on. (gremlins, hackers, new software bugs, hosting problems, submarines, whatever)
