Why the Joshtopia downgrade?

I log on today to see that Joshtopia has been moved down to the third slot in the stars forum. I can see that the stars forums are now in alpha order but where was the announcement on this in the announcements thread? The girls in the Josh forum have worked hard to make Joshtopia the #1 stars forum and we feel slighted to have lost our place on the top of the board. I would like to ask that Joshtopia be put back in the top slot where we belong.

Also, I'm getting peeved at the lack of communication on this board. Rory is the only one who bothers to be flexible around here.

Thank you Ophelia for this post! I absolutely agree with you! I was totally shocked when I saw that this morning and I have to say it feels like an insult to us to see the most active male celebrity forum, with over 80,000 posts downgraded like that.

and I also agree with you that we somehow don´t get informed about changes like that and just have to see what happened.

so I agree with you totally that Joshtopia should be put back as the #1 forum in the male celebrity section!

What Op said (and FB, although I fear the van to say too loudly)... why change the order to alphabetical, seems unnecessary? It's just odd not seeing Josh and JLH top of their categories when they get more posts than other Stars/Starlets put together.

totally agree. I think it should be listed after the post counts in honor to the people who keep those forums active and updated.

There is an advantage to listing the stars and starlets alphabetically - it makes it easier to find a forum if you are looking for one in particular. However ordering the forum by post/view count also has a lot going for. Too bad the order cannot be customized for each member; or can it?

As to just changing things without consulting the membership - as anyone in management knows, a committee is good for getting ideas but in the end one person or a very small group of persons need to make the decisions. Note that admins do ask for suggestions for moderators and new forums, and they have notified the membership that low usage forums would be dropped. Let's cut them a bit of slack.

On the other hand, this site's management needs to remain flexible and open to new ideas. The top star of TV or film changes almost as fast as the weather. A good balance between the traditional forums (as long as they are viable) and new ones is desirable to keep this site vibrant. As I said elsewhere - Diversity, Diversity, Diversity will keep the site hits up in the long run.

well actually to me it´s harder to find the josh forum now. cause now it´s in the middle and i always tend to enter the wrong forum which is now on top, which is not the Josh forum anymore.
I think at least the top 3 forums should be listed after the post count. about the others, well maybe the can be alphabethical.
it´s just strange to see that we work so hard to keep Joshtopia the #1 listed and then ..... bam.... it just gets downgraded without an announcement where someone told or asked the members or at least moderators about what they think.

I would rather have the listings like they were before, in general, cause I also always think that the Scarlett forum is gone, now that it is at the very bottom. it´s just confusing.

But I would be at least happy if Joshtopia would get moved back at #1

My issue is the JLH is said to be "the heart of Fanhost" but she has been put in the middle somewhere. I don't understand how that fourm is now mixed in with the others like it doesn't mean as much when it's one of the hottest on the whole board.

that´s exactly what I mentioned before and I totally agree with you. JLH is in the starlet section what Josh Hartnett is in the stars section.
it feels bad being downgraded like that.

Well, now that they have this whole post count thing, maybe they could list the forums in order of the monthly post count. You would have to earn being the top slot.

And ladies, don't complain so much, you only got moved to the middle..not all the way to the bottom ehem...

and a downgrade of such forums although the members of them worked and still work hard on it to keep it on top is not that good in my opinion. I bet it kept long to keep them that high in the list. But now they are downgraded as if they are nothing special.

That has been corrected, Bill. It seems that Sc does come before St alphabetically.

Actually, if you went by number of monthly posts, Starlets would probably be first, but let's not give anyone any ideas.

I dont know if this is known. But because Im using another persons comp. I came on as a lurker. I could not view the Chad or Wenty forums without being a member. Josh was fine. I was Ok with whatever. I really didnt go further.
