So basically it is a hack that will take our UserCP and make it like myspace (which I hate)... but i like the concept. It would be a HUGE upgrade to the board since you can imagine the work involved and is something I wanted to get everyones opinion on.

IN some ways I love this hack since you can build your buddy list, your profile, etc. Then we can port this to the fanhost homepage randomly, etc... really integrate things together...

My impression is 95% like myspace. the comments, buddies, photos, music, etc. Like i Said, it will take me all weekend to set up since it is major rewrite.

You would total customization I believe. plus it the hack includes the naming convention so it would be like forums.fanhost.com/bigpoppa instead of the php?.p=

If it's just the User CP, then I guess it's OK. As long as it doesn't make the actual forums look like the eyesore that is MySpace, then I can't see any objections.

no, just the usercp area. basically it replaces that with myspace.. .think of it that way... the forums would remain.

Just wondering why we continue to add all these things, but cant improve posting activity with the lurkers and quiet forums. Irriatating me.....

I hear ya on the lurkers and activity... It will take baby steps on those items for sure. I think it starts with the fan sites... we need to focus on updating the fansites. Believe it or not when a site is updated, traffic goes up.. hence traffic to the mb. That is step one. I think we have started that process too!

I think doing all that work for something fairly useless is lame

Find a hack for a myspace link to be added in a profile.

How many actually view others profiles here on a regular basis?

the key to success is simplicity. you can't keep adding a bunch of junk, that ain't gonna help. stop adding more forums too. we could even mass merge a bunch of forums. just look at some other boards who has very few forums and they are very successfull.

you gotta keep things simple.

its weird on the forums thing.. that is trickey.. do we not get posters because of a lack of forums? Every forum I know that is huge has tons of forums.

I dont mind adding more forums, especially celeb based, thats what FH is suppose to be about, want cooking, ,goto foodtv.com for it.

Just need mods to make topics of discussion on the celebs now and then, only so much picture threads you can do....

At some times its harder then others, I only know about the Amanda forum, sometimes I can make several topics a day, but like now, Amanda hasnt been out or mentioned anywhere in 3 weeks, it makes it hard to make a lot of new topics. I had to make a few filler topics.

I know I lost 3 constant posters in the Amanda forum after we changed sites, I dont know why, they never came back. There are others too from the board.

The fan sites are wahts going to bring people to the boards. All board have lurkers that are never going to join, thats the same everywhere.

It's been almost a month now since the launch and it's clear some of these forums aren't very popular

Its not always clear, celeb forums have spikes of activity due to when something new comes out or if there out of the news of filming something. A lot of it also has to do with the fansites that bring the fans here.

Oh no doubt it is hard to make some topics on celebs, but good example is dushku and hewitt, both always have active topics of the subject themselves, alba did on the old board also.

Just so many darn pictures, want pics ill view the fansites or non fh sites/boards :/

This is going to cause some heat.. but look at other fansite forums too.. they basically allow spam. people discuss everything about a celeb but responses are often...one liners... so it is tough to manage that fine line. People post a response like "cool" or "thanks" and members here frown at that... its weird...

I see what you saying too and I agree some forums have never been active even on the old site. I was just saying its hard to trash them based on 1 month. The spikes work the same way as lows, hopefully anyway.

What I cant understand and whats very fusturating to me is the Keria forum has 3 times as many posts as the Amanda forum but only a fraction of the views. I dont know why people dont join.

Thats going to happen in picture threads though, does on all boards, nothing you can do about it. Even on the less populated boards, it just happens more in places like JLH because there are so many members which is a good thing, so it really dosnt matter much.
