I so very hope you have a magic mass unlock button.
Nah, you guys are okay with doing it manually for me, right?

Haha, kidding. Yes, I can update the flags in the database in one shot.

Also guess where changing the rule;
Please dont post in a thread that hasnt been active for more then 60 days
Hmm. You guys are the experts so I'll defer to you. Will unlocking old threads create a mess? Were people respecting that "don't post on old threads" rule?

haha, I'm sure unlocking all the threads is something the s-mods can take care of.

Having the full counts back would be kind of cool, but based on the counts we are currently seeing, which I assume is the whole database, they aren't very accurate so I've said Mar 2006.

There's a solution for this. Just reset our posts to zero again and the problem will be fixed.
Newbies again! Should be nice!

Or even a negative number. -100. Wouldn't that be fun... you have to post 100 times before you're a Newbie again

I didn't know there was a "don't post in old threads" rule until now. I don't see much bumping at all of very old threads, so it won't worry me.

new owner, reset the post count...has some merit. People notice when they are missing 20 posts from their count.....I'm sure there will be underwhelming support for that idea.

People dont normaly post in old threads anyway, they just create a new one, the rule wasnt really enforced as it happened rarely.

The reason was; for every old thread brought back, a newer one gets pushed down. We thought the news and current goings on was better upfront. In JLH and Alba, on most days the whole first page gets filled with that days posts.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
This is our rules thread
Rules and How To Guide

I posted it but most of them are from Jeff and other things that just came up and were discused in Admin forum (New Rules for all forums!!! Please read and provide feedback ) Fell free to edit them or write a new one. Other then whats like common sence, like no nudity, most of the little things are not really enforced all that much anyway. Were a laidback forum.

Phuck 'em. If they care so much about their post counts they should just post more (a revolutionary idea, I KNOW!).

Marc, I don't care about personal post counts but if you're importing old threads from the archive can you restore the post for the Josh Hartnett forum too, like you have for Chad Micheal Murray, who previously had less than 1000 posts and now has over 11,000.
Josh's forum has over 16,000 at present so I'm looking forward to seeing that grow hugely!

I'm all for having the old postcounts back. I used to have over 10.000 posts. It would be nice to have them under my name again.

I think Rory already mentioned this but people don't often post outside of the first page's threads anyway.

On Val the Perpetual Newbie, can you fix if so that everytime he posts his count goes back one? I think it would be fun to see how quick he can get back to zero. (Btw, Val is my online baby... so it's ok!)

10,000, eh? I know I had more than that. Before the big move I had twice as many posts as I do now (well, yesterday, before the old post counts were restored). Oh well.

Marc,

Thank you for the quick actions you're taking to fulfill everyone's request. Like Still Dirrty, It would be nice to have our post counts under our name again. I had about 6,000 post under mine.

A reset post count on all members wouldn't really seem right. Take for account a member who's been here since 2001 or 2002 and having this under their information:

Join Date: Apr 2001
Posts: 165

A great example: Vulture's above post count as I can see it at this moment... 0 post count? And he's been here forever. That's just not right.

In my opinion, keeping post counts close to what they should be for dedicated members who've been here since "the good 'ol days", through the phases of changes we've seen through the years, I think it hold some sort of sentimental value. The good times, the bad times, the really good fights and arguments with old members, the great discussions we've involved ourselves in, the friendship and communication we've kept over the years; some great history behind post counts, I believe.

But I trust you'll do what's best for the community. Smashing job you're doing.
