Can the problem be solved by changing the "memory_limit = 16M" line in php.ini to "memory_limit = 24M".
Sounds so easy to fix doesn't it.

About the memory problem

Maybe he can't access the file, if the server is only leased. Also think about it: The memory limit is per session! Imagine 100 lurkers eating up 2.4 GB of the servers RAM. OK that's a little exaggerated, but you get the picture. Normally no php script should need more than 16 MB, for message boards a limitation of 8 MB is common. Either the programmers screwed up or something is stealing memory. I suppose the Intellitext needs a lot of memory. Because the error message didn't appear earlier, I think a recent change caused the problem. So just changing the line would be kinda like pumping more oil into a pipeline after the pressure has dropped instead of looking for leaks.

Do you guys get that many ads as well or is it different from country to country - most services that pay for putting ads on sites do that for different companies/organisations around the world, in order to target potential customers better. Anyway, I asked myself, is it really necessary to have two popups for 888 online casino at navigation click (except the preview button for posts).

I think even a bigger problem are the ads for ErrorSafe (Winfixer's new name). Maybe not everyone knows that it's scamware - very clingy with rootkit and everything, closing the process via TaskManager won't do. Luckily the company is willing to sell you the fullversion that has an uninstall button. The EULA is the kicker. Have they never heard the term "contrary to public policy". They actually have a point in the EULA where they claim right to uninstall software that "might interfere" with ErrorSafe (yes they mean anti-spyware tools and anti-virus-software).

Thinking about it, this explains a lot. There used to be an inflow of new members. Young fans of actors and actresses that somehow found there way here. Imagine them falling victim to those scam ads - an accidental click on OK is enough - considering the persistence and nerviness of those ads, this isn't an unlikely situation. They screw up their or their parents computer and in consequence won't visit Fanhost again.

My plea to the admins: please do something against those scam ads. I see it's necessary to have ads on this forum to attenuate the costs for webspace and bandwidth - which I guess are high with forum software that shows it's opinion of using ressources sparingly by demanding more than 16 MB RAM per session. I also know that the prices paid for placing banners aren't as high as they used to be in the late ninetees. Still isn't there a possibility to go without sponsors such as ErrorSafe/Winfixer?

Yes me and every other person from Germany have been banned. Why? Those Danny and Nina had the idea to move to a random town for a year. Which one? - visitors of their site should decide. A popular German vlog (Ehrensenf*) told about the site and suggested that the viewers should vote for Plano, TX (I guess because it sounds plain, boring). The presenter advised not to used voting-bots, as the votes would be deleted. Anyway Danny and Nina changed the results more than once and in the end disabling all German IPs. Note that over a million visitors went to their site, which was riddled with ads, yet didn't seem to eat up many ressources. Why do I tell this? I just don't like to be banned from any site based on my nationality.

* directly translated it means honor-mustard. They used the name, as it's an anagram of Fernsehen = television. btw. Ehrensenf rulez!

Just Tribalfusion in Spain. I've blocked it using my HOSTS file and no more ads have popped.

I can say nothing about pop-ups, my browser blocks them.

About the memory problem
Im pretty sure they use dedicated servers, several of them, so there should be some access to the file. A message board should be the least resource intensive. But I have heard of this error being cause by addons and hacks to the software (like the myspace like profiles we have). These errors started when they started moving stuff to different serves, which has been going on since 12/15.

Just tribal fusion mostly for me also, and a few others I have blocked. I get about 10 other popups per day that get through, about half from fanhost half from image sites like imageshack.

We do not have adds for WinFixer, WinAntiVirus, ErrorSafe, SystemDoctor, or DriveCleaner. If your getting them a lot you probably have already been infected by it. And I know popup blockers cant block them. There not coming from Fanhost. We have tribalfusion for the popups, and doubleclick.net and burstnet.com for some of the other ads.

I have no idea what it is but it blocks me also.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Sampson try blocking this using ether your HOSTS file or your restricted sites option in your browser. *.atdmt.com. If your not infected already by the winfixer this might block some of those winfixer popups.

If pop-ups are using Internet Explorer even when you're not running it, then yes: you're infected by ad/spyware. Try Ad-Aware and Spybot Search & Destroy.
