According to my wildly popular but still hasn't caugh on "I can see it in his/her eyes" theory of people, that woman has a %100 russian soul. She's too beautifil to be wasted in the military, probably didn't learn to negotiate various stratified social groups, and end up being pre-engaged to a passive aggressive business major. ![]() Last edited by Captain Beefheart; 08-16-2008 at 02:39 AM.. |

| Lacey's Man ![]() ![]() ![]() | The ship I served on was about 25% female. The narrow majority pulled their weight; there were quite a few that didn't want to be at sea and got pregnant just to get assigned shore duty. As I never heard from any of them again, and indeed didn't really know any of them with such loose morals, I don't know what happened. I would presume the few that were married kept the baby, and the rest probably had it killed at their earliest convenience/when the chances of having to go back to sea were minimal. There was one I had a nominal friendship with who wanted desperately to be treated like one of the guys most of the time. She was a pretty one, with a sturdy frame, so she could work, but her chief was some jackass - don't know what his problem was, if he was just too sexist, or if he wanted something nice to look at - who kept her in the office instead of letting her do the grunt work she said she wanted to do. She was nice, one of the few girls I found attractive, but could still talk to her like a regular person. There was also this officer who'd never been to sea before, and EVERYONE ELSE who had been to sea was telling me that when you go to sea, you take your hat when you're on deck off so you don't lose it. This is the day the boat is first going out, and it's MY first time out too, and I'm still "young", so I don't want to screw up and get in trouble. I get lucky and can be out on deck to watch what's going on, and this idiot woman insists we all have to wear our hats. And the CO never bothers to correct her (probably sleeping with her, but he had a taste for the enlisted girls that wanted an easier time on the boat, so no telling for sure), so we were the only boat in the entire navy that had to wear hats while at sea. It was quite often one great big soap opera. Not a single woman on that boat was lonely if she didn't want to be. NOT ONE. Any of them could've had 2 or 3 guys at any given time. Even the frickin' CO was banging at least a dozen girls a month. I hate to sound crude, but it really boiled my oil the way the bastard treated the rest of us. I could tell stories about planned mutinies because of this guy. Not a soul on board didn't cheer when he left. Hope the bastard heard it too. Last edited by wannabe; 09-20-2008 at 01:20 AM.. |

The best female soldier barely compares to the worst male one. They don't belong in the military. All woman in the military do is encourage poor behavior. These women, especially.

If a woman can do the job as well as her male counterparts then why not. But she has to be as good.

I mean apart from prejudice, can anyone post a study that shows a de facto reduction in combat efficiency of units that have integrated women? Probably not. As for women in combat roles, I'd oppose, but not because of fitness reasons but rather protecting them from rape when being captured. Last edited by Captain Beefheart; 10-02-2008 at 07:42 PM.. |

There are things we do believe and then there are things we'd LIKE to believe: specifically about ourselves and our beliefs. HA! Believe it or not, there are more fragile perceptions and conceptualizations, consequences of a woman getting raped and boiled alive after being captured than with a man getting beheaded. I guess as society we find men to be simply more "expendable". Perhaps you misunderstand that my main concern isn't so much women being in the military, but women being conscripted and put in the front lines. I know you're probably thinking I view woman as the weaker sex and it's not even about that, sometimes fighting is more about wits than brute strength. And I don't believe in wars for starters. Just thought I'd make that clear. ![]() Last edited by Captain Beefheart; 10-03-2008 at 06:51 PM.. |

And conscription is something I'm uncomfortable with in general, for men and women... that's a mother's view.
