Knocked Up

OK, remember my sweet kitty Guinness who was supposedly a declawed male cat which is why we named her Guinness and adopted her in the first place. Well, I could tell instantly she wasn't declawed, and after a while it became clear she wasn't a dude either. I went twice to get her spayed and was turned away because they were too busy. Well, she's an outdoor cat and a big ol' ho apparently because she's good and knocked up at less than a year old. It's hard to tell when she's gonna blow but I think it will be soon, like today or right now. I have her "birth room" aka my closet all cleared out and comfy for her. Anybody been through catbirth before?

Nope. I've birthed two litters of puppies, though. Most likely she'll do the work, strangely enough. Telling them to breath is kinda useless.

My cat had kittens in my closet once. She did all the work herself, we were on vacation at the time. Came home to find three beautiful little creatures. I don't really know what to tell you other than good luck! Oh, and my mom always told me to tell the cat she was doing a good job and tell her how beautiful the kittens were for some reason.

Having three kittens in the house was great, giving two of them away was not.

Thats reassuring, thanks. If I could read her mind right now, I would say shes thinking..er...WTF, all I wanna do is sleep and eat? She keeps looking at me and my hubby and meowing loudly, as if searching for answers. I think we will keep one kitten. The rest wll have to go. Still waiting for her to blow, but I am enjoying all the affection that I usually don't get from her.

Haha, I didn't mean it like that! I just meant I was never around for the actual birth, so I have no idea what happens. Well, you know... Other than what they taught us in health class. Everything was perfectly fine when we came back. It was just as clean as when we left it (I don't know whether this is a good thing or just plain gross), but there were three kittens squeaking in the closet. The first week or so they're just...there. And then they grow and start wanting to have a look around and explore. That's when it's a pain..We wanted to keep them in the closet during the night (this is a huge closet, mind you. Walk in) cause we didn't want them to wander off around the house and fall down stairs and stuff. They kept screaming even though they had everything they needed in that closet. Their mom was there and everything. When they get a bit older they're amazing. They're so cute and furry and playful. I think you'll enjoy it, really.

Oh, and my cat was around a year old when she had kittens. She calmed down after she had them. She got more affectionate.

NO, I was serious, that was reassuring as I am supposed to go out of town this weekend and I am leery of leaving her in "her precious state." Thanks to you tube I have seen what the birth looks like. whoa. I will take pics of the kittys and share. Anyone want a kitten?

Ok, no sooner had I said that then my cat starts meowing at me and leading me into the "birth room" aka my closet. She had 5 kittens total, 3 totally healthy, one stillborn and one runt barely hanging on, if it makes it then thats the one I'm keeping.

Thanks. We lost another in the night, the little guy, but othermise mama and babies are great.

Problem is she relocated them under my sons bed in the night and I can't really see them...

Thanks guys. They are cute, mostly black like Guinni, but one is tortoise shell just like her. They are under the bed, I can' really see them she is being uber protective of them. I'll take photos when she's done freaking out.
