Default Does Love Conquer ALL?

So I'm mildly in love with someone from another religion at the moment. Its sparked off the debate amoungst friends and family as to whether or not its right for me to say that I would never date him as he comes from a different religion.

I personally just see no point in it. Its only going to end with broken hearts and probably bloodshed knowing me......

Mildly in love with? Doesn't seem worthy of bloodshed, I agree. Of course if it ever became the kind of love where you couldn't see yourself living completely without him, then that changes things.
Mildly in love, I don't think I've ever been in that state, so I can't say if what you feel with grow or die but enjoy his company while your together.

Throughout the centuries these 3 majour religions: Christianity, Judaism, and Islam, has separated humans from each other for selfish reasons. Religion has a history that stinks of festering bodies and through its belief, we have placed blood on the hands of God. And I wouldn't blame God if he smites each and every single human for the way man has abused His trust and knowledge.

"Man has made God in his own image"

Kill the man-made God, and burn these man-made bibles, because by being this closed-minded you close yourself off from the Real God. The God who cannot be explained, who cannot be tied down, and who would not be so selfish and egotistical to need to be praised by egotistical mortals.

You also close yourself off from the whole point of living. By letting any religious belief dictate your life, you separate yourself from the rest of the Universe when everything inside of your skin and everything outside of it, is one.

You're meant to be free. That's why 'free will' exist.

"If you meet the Buddha, kill the Buddha. If you meet a Patriarch, kill the Patriarch." -- Lin Chi

Why?

dont listen to idealists. thats horseshit. love will not conquer everything. in fact, it doesnt conquer most things.

forget about the guy as best as you can. religious differences--REAL religious differences where the 2 people are actually religious and stick to their religious beliefs despite any obstacles--cannot be overcome and if they can, than obviously 1 of the parties wasn't all that into it in the first place.

P.S. Buddhism is faggot doublespeak nonsense.

I'm a mormon. Atum in the morning, Khepri at noon and Ra only at night. I was going to go for christiany as my first choice but I kept seeing these commercials on TV about getting a free DVD about Mormonism.

"Either call this number, or ask your mormon neighbors for your free DVD!"

Who isn't into a religion that not only gives stuff out for FREE, but remixes the white washed chauvinistic version of all other religions with racism towards people of color outwardly justified!

My girlfriend is christian and the only problem I remember was over Thanksgiving at a fwe were playing Guitar Hero 3 and she choosed Iron Maiden's Number of the Beast as the song we were to battle it out on. That was weird.

Missy luuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuvs GOOOOOOOOOOOOOLD.

You're confussing organized religions with social clubs.

What masons do is brag about their kids and asking a buddy if he could help install a deck on the back of the house. Also, discussing the new episode of Desperate Housewives.

An organized social club.
And we discuss "House", maybe sometimes "Boston Legal" but not "Desperate Housewives" That's discussed in the other hall where the Stepford Wives gather.

Of course, that's not my wife, that's Victoria from the escort agency. She's all right with me.

Little Mosque on the Prairie will go down as one of the greatest Canadian sitcoms.

I'm an atheist....so most girls I date are most likely going to be a different religion.

The truth is that there is no such thing as love. 99% of guys would drop their girlfriends/wives or whatever for a hotter younger girl .....and 99% of women would do the same for a hotter richer guy. The same applies with same sex couples. WE all do the best we can do based on our looks, finances and personality. Sometimes......we even do better when others have self esteem issues....but for the most part we stay within our range. It's always easy to judge an say you would never do it......but if you're fat and ugly you on't have many options. Not that it's okay to do whatever you want.....just that it's an unfortunate reality that people do. Love may exist in an non sexual relationship....such as friends or family.....but that's it.

It's hard for love to conquer anything when it doesn't exist.

I think the longer you spend time with someone the better they look(physically/personal wise). Just because if you like someone because of who they are, you tend to look at them with positive eyes, so their good features get amplified, and their negative ones get drowned out.

Now as far as the topic. Could you really love someone that thinks women were made from a rib and that when we die we see all of our loved ones and live with an imaginary creator in paradise, so long as we follow ten rules that this imaginary creator wrote on some tablets?

If you want to criticize all faiths equally, I'm all for it, but singling out muslims because you are not accustomed to their beliefs and ways of life is bullsh!it. It's a delicate balance and a permanent conflict of ideals that only becomes more difficult as you're more intimate. But don't ever let the odds dictate the direction of your heart.

I think that, in the case of religion, people are less likely to take that moderate line, and more inclined to assert that their version is the absolute truth. A feminist reads the Koran, and finds it to be pro-women's liberation. If a rampant misogynist reads it, they'll find the exact opposite. But, if they're believers, both would swear up and down that their point of view is the TRUE version of Islam, and anything else is a misinterpretation, if not a heresy.
