Sorry to say, but your relationship sounds doomed to me. In a serious or strong relationship, a 3rd party wouldn't even be fathomed, much less mentioned. That's why I said "get it over with".

Whoever brought it up has doubt about the relationship. If you two were truly really really really in love each other, what you have between you two, you would want to keep it sacred.
