Absolutely. Although, mine are related to PTSD rather than flat out panic attacks, I know where you're coming from.

I've only just woken up, so I can't give you a decent account right now, but Ill give you all the info I've gained when I get home tonight.

What are the symptoms, do you know why you get them?
I'm definitely more edgy at times and sometimes wake up out of breath, which is odd.

Restlessness or feeling on edge
Fatigue
Difficulty concentrating or mind going blank
Irritability
Muscle tension
Symptoms associated with muscle tension, such as trembling, twitching, feeling shaky, and muscle aches and soreness
Physical symptoms such as clammy hands, dry mouth, sweating, nausea or diarrhea, an increased need to urinate, trouble swallowing, and an exaggerated response to being surprised difficulty sleeping.

I get all of the above. Except for the trouble swallowing thing. (in case Josh is reading this)

I used to have them back when I was in my early 20's. They felt like I was having a heart attack.

Oh yeah I know just what this feels like! But probably a hundred times worse. Don't worry I feel great empathy for you! Ok this must have happened to a lot of other here too. As a silly teenager I did some dodgy pills which were supposed to be pure but actually just ketamine and speed and rat-poison. We had a terrible dealer at university. After an hour you know that you've just taken ketamine, so feeling annoyed, but you're a jittery idiot by this stage as opposed to your usual happy person. And then we drove miles out to this birthday party where we didn't know anyone. Already feeling nervous. And then did a few spiffs in front of television. And then I lost my friend who was supposed to drive home. And then I talk to the horrible local birthday types who weren't friendly or hospitable and also smelt of cheap beer from tesco. And then cue complete panic attack! Mood plummets first I think and then later you start thinking through every bad scenario possible, and then your mood plummets more, and then you think even more bad stuff, and then your mood plummets more, ect, ect. The thing is you can't control your thoughts so they follow your mood in a helter skelter downward spiral. Luckily thank god never get this sober.

Of course you don't. You think everything is OK. Sunshine and lollipops up the butt for you.

I couldn't find one where little children are playing with lions and cheetahs, sorry.

Flute, the experience itself can seem like Hell (it's close) but the outcome can be positive. As it is said that one can not know good without the bad.

Life is not about feeling good 100% of the time, that would be foolish. Panic attacks are not pleasant, life is meant to have its moments of pleasure and pain. It's how humans grow and learn.

I'd say seeing a specialist about it would be a choice, but I question the drugs they give to "treat" panic attacks or other similar reactions.

But there are alternatives. Yoga is one.

Speaking from personal experience, you shouldn't really fight the panic attack, let it do what it does. The more you fight it, the more fear just builds up, then you feel more on edge, then you tire yourself [fatigue], become more irritable, have more difficulty concentrating.

If you're mind goes blank, that's actually a good thing. Which would you prefer: a build up of confusion? or or a platform for clear awareness?

Panic attacks are really not good or bad. It's up to you how to perceive it. To me, it's fascinating.

I usually get torn between young Diane Keaton(1970's) and Faye Dunaway (late 1960's).

I know that during a panic attack, excercise does nothing to help. Take zanax with a beer chaser, you'll be fine.

I've never had one but they sound like they suck. May I ask how you know you're getting one? Do they happen suddenly like flipping a switch, or does it build itself up and get worse over time? How long do they last?
