From Captain to captain(lower case), dude's being a pig, patronizing someone is just an equal offense as being a "sexist" and those are really the only objectives that were intented with the comment(yes I do realise there are gray areas in casual interaction: the tone etc)

PS: As a note for future problem solving, do women mind being taught any skill/work related duty if they haven't asked for advice? Last week I was out at the driving range and the woman next to me was "slicing"m couldn't hit the side of a barn or make a hole in one in Saturn. I couldn't help but notice and gave her advice about not opening up her feet(shuffling forward). She was really cool about it.

I really need to be more sensitive to remarks made in good humour... I'm actually going through life seeing compliments when I should be seeking legal action!

I guess it's hard to know the tone of the remark unless you're there.
