Jeans and a T-shirt are probably not quite going to cut it, and other than small amount of stuff I have for interviews my wardrobe is completely lacking in corporate clothing. So when I get a job it looks like I'm going to be going on a spending spree. Clothes shopping is like a form of cruel torture, corporate clothes shopping is even worse. The only plus will be that I do enjoy spending money. ![]() |

| Since your thread has been viewed by 20 people but no one has replied, I will. Personally, I like corporate clothing. I wear it all the time. I like wearing long-sleeve button-up shirts, mainly dark coloured and striped. But in my industry of expertise, it's accepted to wear button-up long-sleeve, dark blue jeans with a suit coat. Sometimes I wear the jeans, the coat, and a trendy t-shirt with a print that says "Texas Hold 'em" or "Deftones" ![]() As for shoes, when I want to go a little less corp, I'll wear white tennis shoes. They're actually white nike basketball shoes, not made for tennis, I guess. For a less casual feel, black skechers "scholars". For a coat: Claiborne black car coat, or Calvin Klein dark-gray thin jean coat. Jewelry: silver bling. necklace with celtic trinity charm, silver claddagh ring on right hand's middle finger. |

I've told you before I'll start knocking at 1 Sydney road until I find you. ![]() Phoenix, that's becoming the more common kind of dress in corporate here. The jobs I'm going for at the moment though are quite a few government and they still seem much more the full suit look. Last edited by Blackmask : 09-16-2007 at 08:40 PM. |

It makes all the difference in the world! The suit maketh the man/woman. Last edited by Moshe.. : 09-17-2007 at 08:11 PM. |

You can’t see the quality of the cut, the quality of the fabrics or, most importantly, whether it fits you. The main problem in England is that people rarely wear clothes that fit them. My mum says you have to go to either armani, blumarine, lanvin, or givenchy for a nice feminine ready to wear suit. But I don’t think you have to spend all that much. You don't have to dress like you got off the plane from milan. You simply have to look like you put effort into your outfit and, especially, into the small details. The effort you make says very good things to your employer/interviewer! First, it says you are willing work hard to get/keep the job (therefore you genuinely want the job). Secondly, that you are concerned about presentation (and remember presentation is everything in the world of business). And that you are well-organised in that department. Third, you care about the details of life and are therefore a perfectionist. Fourthly, it shows that you value yourself. Five, it simply makes you look better. And finally, buying designer clothes is scientifically proven to be therapeutic and good for your blood pressure. With my advice, I am sure you will do very well in the corporate world. | il dolce far niente ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I have a clothes fetish. I think even better for corporation women than any business suit would be some ultra-feminine retro monaco casino wear. Armani’s black label stuff last winter is the best. It’s on the video from 1:50 to 2:50 (just ignore the silly cocktail hats). Pause the vid at 2:41 and you see the kind of shawl-collar british airways hostesses used to wear in the 50s when aviation was still slightly glamorous. I’d hire anyone who wore one of those on the spot! Only it should be done with a velextra briefcase and ballet flats instead of heels (falling down stairs at work isn't very clever) . http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9SwsV6mbPCs |
