Female bosses

I had a job interview the other day and one of the questions was how I found managing a high percentage of male employees. I've never really thought about it from a gender perspective, but maybe it makes a difference if the boss is male or female. What do you think? Would you rather have a male or female boss? Does it really matter?

good question.... i have had both.. i seem to use my charm and get away with more when i had a female boss.

I've found that to be the case and for that reason I always preferred a male boss. And if you ever had to have time off sick, men don't question that for fear of the dreaded "women's problems" response.

I've had both. Never really mattered much either way. Seems to be more meetings ... more talking w/ a woman boss.

I have had both, I think I like a woman boss better. Although I had one once when I worked at a camp that was so mean. She made it a point to fire someone almost everyday just to intimidate people and get them to suck up. (They had about 200 employees) What an absolutely hellish person that was. So I guess it just all depends on the person.

all my bosses are women, actually the only guy we have in the shop is the security guard Some of them are complete *****es, but most of them are alright, depends on the person i guess.

I think it's definitely easier to work with guys. It's a totally different world when you're only working with men. Not all that girl gossip and always feeling like you're being watched.
I only had a male boss, but I can imagine what it'd be like with a female boss. And I'd still prefer a man. Besides my boss is incredibly smart and fun, he's easy to be around.

I currently have a female boss, but i prefer to have male bosses, as i feel more comfortable with men at work (no, not the song).
And also, my boss currently is a real cow, which doesnt help.

Male co-workers are more honest and competitive when it comes to working towards a promotion.

Females are more backstabbing, brown-nosing, tattle-tale types that'll start rumors about men to get ahead of them.

I would cosign on the *******s come in all genders statement. However, I will say that due to our male dominant society and the lingering sexism that many women who strive for "success" feel that they need to do so by proving that they are "strong". Normally this means acting like an *******. Men do this too, but many of them don't feel like they have to prove their strength in such a way, or at least to such great lengths.

I blame genetics. In a world dominated by alpha males, females need to abuse any possible advantage as leverage. It's not fair, but hey... we pee standing up and they have multiple orgasms.
